My Favorite 4 Tops song. It used to be in a jukebox in a pizza place on Market St. in downtown Paterson, NJ., and I would play it all the time. The flip is for Once In My Life, which also was pretty good.
I bought this album the first week it was released and have been listening to it for the past 37 years. The title cut "Yesterday's Dreams" is the greatest song of the seventies that not enough people heard, but it is like a cult movie with a growing fan base that refuse to let it die. NBoshard
"Yesterday's Dreams, a small pile of ashes with one burning hope that hangs on". the perfect line. Ivy Jo Hunter also did a version on his unreleased album "Ivy Jo In The Bag" which i hear is getting a release sometime this year.
Thanks for this.. Great album.. for sure this song could have been better promoted. Motown was funny that way. But the true listeners of the deep tracks get the rewards because if it.
I've always thought the same thing about Motown. All the way back to the early days they left some of their best material on b-sides and album cuts, if they released them at all.
Miss the 4 tops, Levy Stubs was the best, could sing anything. His voice was in the movie Little Shop of Horror's movie., as the Plant remember "Feed Me Seymore" It was great strong voice. He will be missed.
It's an interesting sound for them.. This was a departure from the norm for them in the 60s.. It's a bridge between their soulful early days and smooth 70s stuff
I love this song, I think we can put this right along with some of their other great songs. To me all of their songs were special and will always hold such a special place in my heart. We have truly lost a legand. I found a quote from Einstien after the death of Ghandi and I thought this would be perfect for Levi. "It is important to remember his deeds, for in the future those who were not priviledged to know him, will doubt such a man ever exsisted". To me this is true of Levi. RIP We miss you.
OMG! I Love it! This and "Soul Heaven"=1911derald! My absolute favourites! I love you both for posting! Don't hate on me! No Spamming here! Just comparing! I am in heaven! With both! Encore! Can't stop dancing to this! So beautiful! Just so beautiful! Thanks Motown250 for sharing this! I wanna hug him myself! xo
Hard to believe that I had not heard of this Four Tops song. This is very nice. They had a gems that the D.J.'s didn't play too often I see. Great share. 5*****
