no u stay E-1 untill u graduate tech school, then u get E-3

@RaiderGrad09 False. During bmt you are e1. When you grad, or get one stripe its e2. Either half way thru tech school, or when you graduate tech school (It depends how long of school you have and if you signed up for 4 or 6 years) you get your second stripe and bumped up to e3

It's great to finally get out of BMT, but it also sucks saying goodbye to a lot of great people. I was blessed to meet many great friends in my flight.

well, xonoma, a lot of the ppl that have them r guard and reserve. They dont even have to have any ROTC but guard and reserve just give that to you. And if u are six year active duty u wont get E3 stripes till u gradute tech school or 20 weeks into tech school.

It seems lately just based on the videos that I have seen, there are a lot of people getting out of BMT with E-2 and E-3. Are there really that many people who have 4 years of highschool ROTC or college credits to get E-3 out the door? Or are these people signing 6 year or more contracts? Would love to know from someone who has recently gone through and can accurately answer this question based on what they knew talking to people through BMT, people who got E-2 out the door.
