Why are the best artists always the least appreciated? *Sigh* I tried to tell my friends about her and they said that "she was wierd" and "gothic". Then when I played A Thousand Miles they all said "Oh, she sang this? I remember this, I love this song! Was she like a one hit wonder or something?"

vanessa is one of the most brilliant, inspiring, talented, and creative composers of the 20th and 21st century! her songs have so much emotion. some of her songs will help you sleep better, make you so happy, or make you sad. any artist that can influence a person that much is truely special.

i love this song and i've forgotten how much I love vanessa-but sadly she has told everyone that she is done with her musical career- she wants to keep touring- but she's done with albums....

i don't think that's true. she had a year of writers block after heroes and thieves was released, but she's releasing another album this year. thank God. someone like her is a gift to music and shouldn't be taken away. :)

she didn't disappear, necessarily. i mean, a thousand miles was her only successful song she's had, but she's been recording ever since. she later recorded a phenomenal but phenomenally unsuccessful album (largely due to the controversy of its first single, "white houses") called harmonium, and was subsequently dropped from her album. then she released a third album called heroes and thieves and is currently not signed to a record label, but is definitely releasing an album later this year.

i'm not. i'm merely stating a fact: she is not commercially successful. she's is, however, one of my favorite artists of all time. she's a phenomenal song writer and musician. i'd kill to b able to write music that's as beautiful as hers.
