  • But i hate uniforms anyways so... FUCK UNIFORMS.

  • I enjoyed wearing a uniform then i went to public school and public school just sucked :\

  • They're ok for military/private schools, but not public schools.

    Pros: None.

Cons: Expensive, lack of creativity/expression, parents involuntarily giving money to contractors/suppliers who get contracts from school board.

This is the 21st century, not the 1950's-students aren't mindless sheep. Conformity is boring; variety is the spice of life.

  • I had an ID in school, and I never used it I anded up tossing it in the trash.

  • It is also a slap in the face to parents by saying you can't do your job. I buy all my kids clothes until they are old enough in their teens to understand what is right to wear, and what is not. I don't understand uniforms for elementary schools because who wants a five year old wearing a mini skirt anyway. Government is turning into a nanny state. Schools no longer teach they prepare you for big brother New World Order government. Serve your leader NOT! A leader doesn't treat people this way.

  • Uniforms are a pain in the butt because since you have to wear a certain thing, and you can't find it then your late for school. I perfer freedom of expression. I would hate to wear the same thing everyday unfortunetly the 80's are gone. To me it is like your going to prison not school. For private schools it makes sense because religion teaches modesty, and kids learn at a young age to not flaunt their bodies infront of others.

  • I wish I had to wear a uniform

  • Uniforms don't solve the cause of problems and cause more long term problems.

  • uniforms do not help at all it is not cheeper, still bulying, and is a pain in the butt. So i'm dont whant uniforms THEY DO NOT HEIR ME DO NOT HEPL AT ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if i speeld some thing rong i cant right i"m a redneck

  • I went to a school with uniforms. Landmark students wore uniforms, which I loved because it took away the rights of students to wear “individual” clothes (unlike the government schools) and it took away the rights from young girls from dressing like prostitutes.

  • i like uniforms. i lol about all this "expressing urself" crap. clothes are clothes. the purpose of clothes is so ur not butt-naked. graffiti is expressing urself, doesnt mean its a good thing, but ohhh noooo, cuz its "freedom of speech"! im not saying graffiti and uniforms are alike at all, but its this whole attitude to expression that gets me. when u put on a uniform, it gets u in schoolwork mind-set. it works. no one gets teased. u can still wear watever the hell u like on weekends

  • School uniforms violate our 1st Ammendmant Rights, the very foundation of our freedom.

  • "Concerning school uniforms, it's not even a new idea. I first saw it in old newsreels from the 1930's, but it was hard to understand, because the narration was in German! But the uniforms looked beautiful. And the children did everything they were told and never questioned authority"-George Carlin

  • I'm british.

Pretty much every single school, high school or lower, requires school uniform. it's fucking shit.

  • I wish I had a school uniform at my school.

  • No school uniforms. America is a free country.

  • only in retardet countys you still have to wear scool uniforms -they don´t exist enymore in the free world .....:-/

  • fascist bullshit!

  • uniforms got me so many detentions because i never had enough i had to basically wash them alot i like casual clothes alot better alot better in my opinion because you dont have to look around for awhile trying to find a uniform and i dont look good in dress shirts

  • they have no idea what is in the students best interests if they make the plan behind a closed door. i would be for it if they only used formal dress but they insists on putting their fat fingers and a pie that doesn't belong to them.

  • the notion that the uniforms are too expensive is absurd. the clothes they wear now cost more than a khakis and a polo from old navy. large children wear clothes everyday. they can find large uniforms. one thing no one has said....children wear what the parents allow. kids aint buying nothing. you're right to free speech can be exercised at home and on the weekends. when you get to college....wear whatever you want.

  • @headymoe How about we don't stomp all over the 1st amendment? If it's a public school you should be entitled to free speech like anywhere else in the U.S.

  • @ZzDe0 ...I'm so tired of this 1st amendment argument from kids. they can't tell a single thing about the Constitution but as soon as something goes against what they want they start screaming 1st amend. School is intended for the students to get the foundation of their education. It's not a fashion show for them to "express themselves".

  • @headymoe You're so tired of hearing it because you know they have a point. I'm glad they get up in arms when ever they think they're 1st amendment right is under attack, it's probably the most important right you have.

    Oh and...

Exactly, children go to school to learn not to be told how to fucking dress. But we should probably take away art class too because school is a place for facts to be jammed into your skull, not a place for creativity, free speech and expression.

  • @ZzDe0 ...y'all make me sick with all this internet tough talk. can't even have a debate/disagreement with someone getting vulgar or flinging insults.

  • @headymoe I said one swear word and i don't mean to be mean.

  • The idea of not having uniforms in high school is soooo appealing. My Principal actually granted my school one week of free-dress. I live in a poor neighborhood and no kid has the money to buy regular clothes- even monthly. The free-dress week only made things worse, becasue the clothes were DISTRACTING! there was an anonymous poll among students the next week and most said they would just prefer uniforms because they were used to it and it was simple to do

  • very well done

  • * if you want to "freely express yourself" then speak your mind.

    * i grew up in schools where uniforms were mandatory, and there were sizes FOR EVERYONE!!! there is no "one size fits all".

    * yes they are expensive(depends) but you only buy them once.

    * one or 2 uniforms IS ENOUGH!! i only had a few a shirts, one pair of pants, and at most 2 pairs of shoes. take care of your uniforms, and you won't have to worry about buying new ones each time. DUH!

    * why do they "mess up" their uniform?

  • I don't see what's wrong with school uniforms. A lot of kids get judged by what they wear at my school, and some girls dress like strippers while boys wear their pants down to their ankles. They don't even follow the dress code, no matter how bad the consequence is! And of course we can make the uniforms stylish! And it's a lot easier to get dressed in the morning, because you know what to wear right off the bat!

  • @Jingle23TV you obviously havent been in a school with uniforms, it sucks

  • No I have not, Jugo49, but I like the idea.

  • Look bitch shut up uniforms take away our rights of self expression

  • I am in australia and i used to go to public high school and i used to get bullyed because of what i wore. and there was so much competion Now i go to a private school and I wear a uniform and its great there is a sense od equality and every is carm. So uniform for me is so great and on non uniform days you can really dress up and express ur self,

Also getting dressed in the morning is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much easier.

  • Do you know what it's like to walk down the street in a uniform? Zero respect. You are seen as a preppy, rich, spoiled asshole. Whether that's really true or not doesn't matter, people see what they see. Out of school you're an outcast. Everyone in my city knows who the uniform wearing losers go to for school, and you don't want to tell anyone about it. What if these kids are in gangs? What if one day they accidently get seen wearing a uniform with enemy colors?

  • its not like that in scotland since we have to wear school uniform and everybody just accepts it you still get slagged about how you wear the uniform though

  • what a shallow opinion... sorry

  • @TheK00laid47 so ture

  • school uniforms arent that bad I wear them every day and it beats wakeing up earlier to find something to wear and it also beats worrying about what other people say about ur clothes and plus in my school we have civis day that means we have 1 day in the month to wear are own clothes soo I'm okay with it ( but some days a yell at teachers becuase they won't shut up about how I wear my uniform but I'm still okay with it lolz)

  • @nattIXwattI haha gay teachers pet

  • School uniforms are a very bad idea, the middle school i went to has them, but our high school doesn't, and the high schoolers get better grades. Some of the reasons are ppl are pissed they have to wear the gay ass uniforms so they take it out on other students and the teachers. Another reason is some of them plain wont wear the uniforms and miss days because of it. I'll never wear a Uniform fuck that gay shit, half the reasons u said they're good dont exist in actual schools....

  • Uniforms are one of those rules that is there when you want to break something but don't want to do harmful damage.

  • My whole county will be wearing uniforms this coming year. I'm going to 10th grade & honestly, I don't mind uniforms.

Uniforms don't take anything away from a person's personality, or even their individuality, at all. (That mean girl will always be the mean girl, no matter what) I don't see the big deal with uniforms.

  • i go to a private year round mixed gender teenaged boarding school. (phew that is always a mouthful to tel people) and we are very thankful that our school has not gone to uniforms. We surprisingly dont have a dress code either girls cant wear spandex but we can wear booty shorts yeah there is a difference n i love my skool n 1 of my siblings has graduated and 8 of my siblings are currently attending

  • less peer pressure is bull shit, if you dont roll up your kilt at my school they will make fun of you, so you get pressured in to looking like a skank. One girl asked her friends if hers was too long when it was JUST covering her ass.

  • school uniforms do nothing except taking away from our individualalityality. Parents have enough say in our lives as do the school systems. This whole being able to ID students in schools is totally bullshit. Attendance is not affected aswell.

  • people who say that uniforms take away from personality are stupid. Personality comes from what you do and who you are not from what you wear.

  • i like and hate uniforms....

i hate then because they wont let you have the power to show your personality on the outside

i like them because it makes you feel youre part of the school! and some have great styles :D so i say i agree/disagree.....

  • uniforms arn't that bad.i don't go into school with a sence of unity. but we do have days when you wear your own clothes and then i see why we wear them.

  • There r no pros 2 uniforms-all they do is infringe on the constitutional rights 4 students and waste time and money for everyone

  • Boriiing

  • Also, gangs will still be gangs. They identify rival gang members by more than colors. There is tattoos ,gang signs, and word of mouth. Uniforms aren't doing anything but making gang members even more mad causing more fights... They will fight in school and outside of school like normal.

  • Man peer pressure is the biggest load of shit ever. Get a group of kids and ask them how serious is peer pressure to them. Not that much. The highest point of peer pressure is smoking a blunt or losing your virginity during highschool. They act like people will bust people in the head for clothes or some shit because of the peer pressure of wanting kids to wear the latest styles.

  • School uniforms are about control and gratuitous authoriratianism. Nothing more. Rise against the machine, don't let the bible banging fucked up cone heads erode your freedoms.

  • ayo man school uniforms r fucking bullshit where is our freedom of Speech huh? i remember you can go to school and wear your own clothes but now we have no freedom of expression

  • this is our right of speech if we disagree/agree with uniforms then no one should get mad and attack us (or give us a thumbs down)

  • We should give up with stupid consumism before teaching pupils how to dress. I agree with people who say that the way you dress is not the only way you have to express yourself, but this doesn't mean we should repress this form of expression. Kids learn to judge from the apparence because adults do the same with them. Let's be the firsts then who do not care!

  • i love uniforms! and im so lucky that my school uses them... i think that my school uniform is like sooo cute& classic but still the coolest... but in public schools there are families that cannot afford even buying the needed clothes for their children, its so wrong for them to have to get uniforms.. in that case it's sooo not right!

  • we have a uniform policy, school uniforms are violating our rights(freedom of expression),we have been in school all these years learning about the constitution, and now they wont let us use it,thats messed up man

  • Peer pressure is the most petty, bogus argument ever. Those who don't give a shit about individuality don't give a shit about the founding philosophy of the US. Individuality (and the right to it) is supremely important in a free society. The whole idea of school uniforms is one of POWER and CONTROL. To deprive the most basic of rights (the freedom of choose dress) in an informal environment is nothing more than petty, dictatorial bullshit. A hallmark of communist and fascist societies.

  • If it is one thing I notice that schools lack compared to when I was in elementary school in the 80's is I see less creativity. Rarely do I see my daughter bringing home art projects. I did art projects at least twice a week when I was in school. It is like they are programing these kids to be robots without individual thinking. Which I believe will lead to the NWO.

  • Once again schools try to do the jobs the parents are supposed to be doing. If a parent sends their child to school in inappropriate clothing then they should go to the school with clothing the child can change into. If parents were forced to follow the school rules then you would not have kids wearing clothes that were not appropriate for school.

  • There is still school bullies, and gangs so this really does not deter it. My child gets picked on just because she is shy. If it is not one thing it is something else.

  • I'm sick of hearing about individuality and creativity. If the only way you express yourself is through your clothes then you're LACKING creativity. It DOES deter bullying and the judging of other student because the wealthy as well as the poor will have the same attire. Everybody can't afford expensive clothing, therefore, there is no pressure to wear them. It DOES deter crime because you won't get jacked for a piece of clothing. Live in S.E. DC then you'll know what I'm talking about.

  • I understand what you mean, if only through clothing. There are a lot of people who are fake and who are posers and have nothing else to do but express that part of them, which is fake, but think about it. Even if everyone's picking on people about clothes (which i've never really seen) if they really wanna pick, they'll just find something else to pick on, how you act, how you look, etc. And violence, its not always about clothes. Some people just dont like one another. Lots of opinions people.

  • how would we know that ppl like punk music if they didn't die their hair, get tattoos or peircings and have awesome mohawks

  • every1 uses clothes to express themselves even if they dont think so if ur laid bak u wear watever if ur prepy u wear bright colors if u like 2 b outspoken u die ur hair every 2days and wear shout out clothes ppl judge u by first impresions bcuz of the clothes u wear thats where stereotypes come from ur thoughts and actions go with ur clothes THAT is individuality fashion and style r 2 diff things fashion is wats in the magazines style is wat u wear and how u put ur clothes 2gether

  • you are so right especially about the less fortunate family being able to buy only 1 pair of uniforms and not being able to replace them if it gets messed up.

  • We've got uniforms, but it hasn't stopped bulling about the way people dress. Everybody wears their uniforms differently, we wear different bags, wear different make up and style our hair differently, depending on who our friends are. But I'm late to school everyday, so I'd probably be even worse if I had to choose clothes lol.

  • but I WANT uniforms, im a HUGE geek :P

    lmao!!

  • I think this video is bias. but I agree with no uniforms, due to the fact I live in Britain and I know what its like to have to wear uniform. The main pro of wearing a uniform is that somebody will not judge a kid on what he wears and this in turn will stop pupils from just mixing with the kids that dress like them and hate the kids that do not dress like them.

But that wole thing still happens even with uniforms, we still get all the usual stereotypes at each others necks all the time.

  • ummm what does bias mean go britain

  • thanks of the video

it helped me in my 6th grade language arts class

    :-)

  • rele??

im doing grade seven language homework ..

  • if a person needs their outward appearance to express themselves, they're too stupid to deserve that right. individuality should be expressed in your thoughts and actions, not what you wear. if you choose to express yourself via what you wear, you arent even expressing YOURself. thats not individuality, thats f*cking fashion.

  • Personally, I don't only express myself with clothing, but it is a part of expression. I agree that our thoughts and actions should define us more than what we wear, but it is still a fact that clothing sways others views of us. Remember that one debate between Nixon and Kennedy? If you listened (and you were rep.), Nixon won, if you watched, Kennedy won because Kennedy was wearing blue and was well-groomed, Nixon was unshaven and was wearing gray. It was a matter of appearance to the masses.

  • Everyone has a choice about what they wear. If it's a choice, it's part of your individuality. Individuality= freedom. According to the Constitution everyone has freedom of expression. Clothing can help express. The hippies started a revolution against restrictive causes and war. Part of that revolution was the clothing they wore. Clothing can also send subliminal messages. The colors you see politicians wear are very carefully chosen, because they can symbolize different meanings.

  • Thanks for uploading this video. I've been trying to find something to help me with my debate for English class.

  • thank you for adding this to youtube it really helped me with the project I was doing :) 8th grade language arts... XP
