The Redweed in the Tom Cruise War Of The Worlds movie it was`nt human blood, it was martian vegetation, it was just watered with the human blood.

thats because they TRIED to make the 2005 War Of The Worlds like the book, but they missed the shot.

Even though I think War Of The Worlds 05' was pretty good, they should have stuck with the martians coming down in meteors and the redweeds being martian plants, NOT human blood.
