Most brass instruments will be fine. I'm a huge fan of the trumpet shower (just take it in with me), it's kept my horn almost looking new after 5 years (minus the dents). You need to watch out though if you do have the felt rings, but those will air dry fairly easily. And if you're in a pool, you'll want to rinse out the chlorine...otherwise you're good. Now if you want to see some wet horns, check out the Purdue Pool Hail. Now woodwinds....completely different story.

The only problems that would really arise from soaking the whole trumpet are the felt rings under the valve caps.
