Here's my theory: Apparently Grusin has been sampled by hiphop acts lately. If you go to "Heaven Can Wait" V7rFpcPBQug it says "As Seen On: Future Producers" which is some sort of rapniggaz forum. Also read comments on "Either Way" pADrZfzPrAY. This way his back catalogue has reached people who apparently don't belong there. When these rocket scientists check out his works and find it's way above their level and not worth stealing, they press dislike.
People don't appreciate a well crafted song anymore. I put this song right up with the work of John Williams and other great film composers- this one is heart rending.
@cjdawdj Must be a Dave Grusin haters fan club. I've been trolling Youtube clips of Grusin's work tonight and am astonished at how many dislikes I've seen. They all have about a 3 - 1 or more margin of dislikes verses likes. STRANGE. And even stranger is I haven't seen negative comments in the comments section.
@pearldiver610 My guess would be that most people gave up after the first 30 seconds when the tune began with such simple chords and didn't have the patience to listen to the whole piece. I don't usually pay attention to the like/dislike bar but this one is unusual.
Dave Grusin played this for us last night at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley, Seattle. I am so glad we asked for seats with the best view of the piano. The performance last night was longer... but this is the first one I found this morning.
@stitchesful Yes. I have been up at Squam a number of times, including once in a boat. It is stunning. I saw three bald eagles in the middle of summer, the mountains are incredible, and I can begin to explain what it is like when it snows.
When you see terrorists and rappers sitting together reverently, send me a pic. I'll place it on the blog. In a prominent corner, with subtle lighting. Incense. A soft breeze and you. Together we'll sit and wipe one anothers tears, as we miss earth life together. The struggle will be missed...
@PaulGiffs Been there, seen that, got the T-shirt. 45,000 white women raped by black men every year in the U.S. alone. And this is according to Obama's own Justice Department website to be an actual "conservative" number. So please, lets not make jokes about double standards.
Exquisite music - haunting, light and yet profound. Grusin's lyrical performance gives me goose-bumps whenever I hear it. I loved it when the film came out all those years ago and love it as much if not more now.

@UnyieldingHERO Well, now I know I'll also have to get there someday. Squam in New Hampshire, okay. But the best time is when it snows?

My all-time favorite piece. Although beautiful beyond words, this is not Dave Grusin performing. Nice rendition though!
