I can never quite put my finger on what it is that sets Elvis apart. People talk about pitch, range, etc, but I really don't think it is technical ability. There is a loss and a yearning in that voice, something that transcends the actual notes. You can hear singers who are technically flawless, but they lack that soulful or haunting quality. You can be impressed by them, but they don't move you. Singing is about the emotions and that's what Elvis delivers on. He strikes a human chord.
@hardyfh1..Oh , very well said. Another things that completely amazes me is His CONTROL! Every now & then , you meet sum1 in your life that kinda fascinates you,for 1 reason or another...well, Elvis was the personification of this feeling.Every facet of His being. Talent , looks , personality, Charisma , attitude..it just goes on & on.Only God can bestow such a complete package. Elvis was His 2nd best work..wink-wink.I guess every 2,000-3,000 years or so...The world gets a present.whats next?
@hardyfh1 A very accurate and unique description. His voice, persona, and humility will never be matched. You are so right about being moved. I listen and get moved especially in a spiritual way. When I hear songs like this it makes me think of the people I love and care about. Makes me love and appreciate my wife more. Amazing affect! Thanks for your opinion. I feel the same way as you! Take Care!!!
Elvis was the one and only. No one could match his style, his voice, his presence on stage. His music will never grow old, his voice will always be in step with the times. He will forever be the greatest performer that ever lived.
The King's voice is so powerful and devine, singing the most beautiful love song of all times, how could anyone forget this song which is sung by so many singers. Music from the Heaven, Thank you for posting it.
I've listened to everyones rendition of Twelfth and Elvis is the ONLY one who can rival Johnny Mathis on this song. I like Mathis' version the best, but Elvis' version is as powerful, just different is all. There is not another singer with the range of Elvis, except maybe for the chairman, Frank Sinatra
This was recorded on a Scotch C-120 Low Noise cassette during rehearsals on August 16 1974. Elvis was not recording this under the usual recording studio environment. He still does such a good job especially with the over dub by David Briggs.
some here say Elvis owned this song , while I respect Elvis as one of the best singers ever I beg to differ , if you listen to Johnny Mathis with this song ,no is no better version.
The Osmonds recorded this and released it I always thought of it as a Donny song, but clearly anything Elvis sang, he owed it. No one could so completely bring out the message or story of a song like he did..
Elvis never sang this live. this is just a cleverly edited. he never recorded it. the audio is from a rehearsal on 16 auguts 1974 before one of his vegas engagements. but he never performed it properly,
this is the first time i saw elvis in a concert and singing my favorite song.. amazing.. this song lift my lonely heart.. thanks elvis.. wherever u are
I have been told that it was released as a single.....I am trying to find it...if anyone knows how where when...please let me know. I have looked through EBAY nothing!!!!!!!!!
I love this song...the way Elvis sang it...but then anything he does..he is the best.
Just got married 8,8,08..this was our last dance..then we headed down to Granceland.
Does anyone know if it was ever released, and if so, what cd it is on. If Lisa or Priscilla read these things......THIS IS A SONG, THAT SHOULD BE PUT OUT...FOR HIS FANS
Another great, great song. Elvis can sing any thing and make it his own. what a great song and what a great Elvis. Elvis will never die as long as we can hear his music.
The KING will never die in our hearts, but there never will be an Elvis Presley again in this life. Listen to his songs when you're sad and lonely or even when you're sick, believe in Him and you will feel better. His presence on stage was so magic and indescribable. He've changed my life when I saw him on stage in Vegas.
What you said is so true. Elvis can sing anything and make it his own. And he did it so naturally and effortlessly too! He's so gifted and yet he's very humble. Until the twelvth of never, we'll still be loving you, Elvis.
i am thinking it was 1974 maybe 75 no later but al these love songs are because of the loss of his marriage, have been married almost 29 years will be in just june now my wife wants to get a divorce, we got and get along great, do not know why,
Maybe she wants to be goddess again. Picasso said there were 2 types of woman, goddess and doormat. If you are not divorced yet, do something.Hope Elvis song inspires you.Love conquers.
i do not know why no one gave this man credit when he was here to know just how much he was loved and we needed him longer than he was here maybe it might have helped him and the depression he was going through
Dear Black Elvis-this was a moving song with Elvis'beautiful voice.I guess with no visual, you had to post it with him doing something else.Thanks-by the way, are you a Black Elvis? That'd be cool since Elvis had so much soul and reveered black musicians.
