this song makes me want to cry, cause i heard this when i was little looking at the adventures of milo and otis (childhood movie). Reminds me of the good times i wish i cud go back to wen i had no work to worry about, tho im only 16. I WISH I WAS A KID AGAIN! :(
I represent the senior citizens who can't play fast or complicated pieces. Instead, we work to make anything we play as musical as possible. These pieces, and this performance show what is possible, if not attainable.
This music tellls u wht a pianist really knows. We can all move fast fingers but can we judge pedal&attacks so finely that it is as if a voice was singingArgerich,Moisewitsch,Horo can!
A beautiful recording, it shows that Horowitz was the master of this work, easy to play but so hard to play right. It's the little things that make it stand out; where most artists often stomp through the seemingly simple pieces like #5 (Glukes genug) or #8 (Am kamin) Horowitz's restraint makes them sing in a way that eludes others. Also love the dramatic dry way he ends #9 (Ritter) and the overall dreamy mood present, especially towards the end. Easily my favorite rendition I've heard online

Oddly, I find Schumann's Waldszenen a bit fond than Kinderszenen. A bit unpopular compared to the Kinderszenen, but great as well. Have you heard the Arrau recording of the Kinder/Waldszenen and the Carnaval?

Remember the intro scene of Conan the Barbarian?
The pillaging horde rides to the first movement(listen 0:30 onwards).
Conan OST: Riddle of Steel/Riders of Doom 1:35 onwards.
One of the best Fantasy movies ever BTW.
Anyone else notice?

Y'know, Horowitz's Kinderszenen (especially the extremely popular Traumerei) seems to be his signature piece. (With his Rachmaninoff 3, of course!)

his rendition of Traumerei is so lyrical, soothing, and sensitive, and his tempo flows perfectly. after Schumann himself, it definitely sounds like one of Horowitz's babies.
