One of the jet drive outputs is being pointed all the way up, while the other is still pushing the boat, right? That's the only way I can see it shooting that much water that high...
BTW, I'm not a boat guy, so if this is way off, soz.
@llldodgelll no having one will do the same thing while pointed up the rooster isnt for looks its to make the bow of the boat stay out of the water for choppy waters and such but it always looks cool to tho
Not sure if this comment goes to johnf2000 ultra dual jet but I love the idea and was wanting to know if your the owner? Jet guys have all the fun and this looks like a way to to have twice as much. (must have).
Hell yeah dude check out what I did to mine, can you take that gear box out of gear? that would be nice, I'm just running a Berkeley 12JF pump I like the dual setup you got tho, did you change the ratio at all to keep the rpms down a bit?
There is no special piece that makes the rooster tail. With dual jet drives you just trim one drive all the way up and leave one down to keep the boat moving.
The hull is an Ultra 23 XS the company who builds the dual jet drive and rigged the boat is R&D Marine in Anaheim Ca, Harold Bruce. The engine builder is Jim Guthry Los Angeles Ca.
Hell yeah dude check out what I did to mine, can you take that gear box out of gear? that would be nice, I'm just running a Berkeley 12JF pump I like the dual setup you got tho, did you change the ratio at all to keep the rpms down a bit?
Yes, that'd be the two white things at 0:12. They are called jet pumps, and are the whole point of a jet boat. Without them, the jet boat doesn't go. Newton's 3rd law of motion and all that.
ty i alwasy thaught there was the jet and a seperate pump that you turn on manualy and it pumps water out to make the big roost...dont think im stupid for saying that im only 14
np. What causes a jetboat to kick a roost like that is called a "jetavator", and causes part or all of the water jet to go up instead of straight back. They use this to trim the nose of the boat up. On some PWCs (also jet drive) there is a "mister" that taps some amount of water flow out of the jet and sends it straight up to increase visibility to other traffic. That sprays up a lot of water, but it's no rooster tail :)
funny, about every six months someone makes a comment on the fram filter. Its technically a racing filter. In the end, do you really think there is a significant difference between a racing fram and a k&n, or any other filter? Just curious they are going to have similar particle size removal and flow. and in the end they are disposable
yes, there is a large difference. from the drain back valve, to the filter element itself and the amount used. fram filters use cardboard end caps that are glues in place.
fram extra guard element surface area: 193 square inches.
purolator pure one element surface area: 400 square inches.
"The rubber anti-drainback valve seals against the cardboard and frequently leaks, causing dirty oil to drain back into the pan. The bypass valves are plastic and are sometimes not molded correctly, which allows them to leak all the time."
"The stamped-metal threaded end is weakly constructed and it has smaller and fewer oil inlet holes, which may restrict flow. I had one of these filters fail in my previous car. The filter element collapsed and bits of filter and glue were circuilating through my system. The oil passge to the head became blocked and the head got so hot from oil starvation that it actually melted the vacuum lines connected to it as well as the wires near it."
i dont know a lot about k&n oil filters, i dont use them, but i do know their air filters are a joke. i have seen the stock paper air filters outflow a k&n "racing" filter.
True that on the air filters! The only good thing about their oil filters is that theres no high pressure by-pass, Which works out well for a boat engine which runs a higher Rpm's than a non-marine engine. I sometimes run 4200Rpm for 30 mins+ And that's in a cruiser not even a muscle boat (2001 merc. 5.0 efi )
@johnf2000 hey actually my father in law has an electronic oil pressure gauge that he hooks up to his laptop along with other egine monitoring systems when he breaks in a new engine for his pre runner and i seen the oil pressure shoot up 5lbs when he swapped a baldwin oil filter in. i guess theres a difference in the filter media inside the filter. who kn0ws though...
@johnf2000 frams quality has gone downhill. cardboard endcaps and cheap materials make it a questionably filter at best. i would never run one on any of my applications, but thats just me. i don't think theres been any catastrophic failure due to a fram filter but when you can get a better quality filter for less money. in most cases i've seen "racing" frams have the same filter element as the ph filters.
its your choice. purolator for example makes excellent quality filters for less money
I like your style! It is perfect. I can just imagine the FUN FACTOR! Who gives a rip about the top speed and the gas it uses? Life is not like You Tube with a "replay" button. Life is meant to be lived to the fullest, and it looks like you know how to do that, so way to go. I love the video.
You hit the nail right between the eyes Hobiretired! No one ever said "I wish I went to work way more" as they lay on their death bed. They would say: "I wish I has spent my money on a boat like this!"

There are 2 types of cooling systems one type the jet pump runs the cooling the 2nd is a closed system like a car the water from the jet pump goes into a heat exchanger.
As long as the pump(s) have water, it pumps cooling water either directly through the engines (sometimes after going through the exhaust manifolds to prewarm it), to to a heat exchanger if it's closed loop cooling.
