I know just doing it over and over got you there, but what would be one area of practice or study that you'd suggest to airbrushers (with a small amount of art talent) in order to build the foundation to become great like you one day or just on the tract to get better than they are now? Shadowing, portraits, etc....? I really have no idea..

hey if you dont mind my asking, what kind of set up do you use? i've been tooling around witrh the cheap harbor freight setup and i wanna drop some serious money down but if i choose wrong then its all a waste. i prefer the detail oriented side but im also interested in getting into automotive airbrushing. I'm a tattoo artist and i just really wanna learn this. its very comparative from what ive seen and done, and i know i can really turn some things out.

Any airbrush that can spary solvent based paints (has Teflon or solvent resistant seals) will work well....the cheap ebay airbrushes work well too but have soft nozzles and are generally not as nice as the Japanese airbrushes.

I use Alsa Corp paint and they work great!

As for what I've spent- if you're referring to how much might you need to spend to get started airbrushing- I'd estimate $1000 for automotive paint and $600 for water-based paint.

Someone asked about the price- I'd have to say about $800 for this one- but it's already gone to a personal collector in Dubai.

a. I use industrial grade compressors, same as any you'd see in a typical workshop- nothing special....but I recommend Pep Boys- they sell inexpensive ones that work well.

Basically any kind of paint that is sprayable would work through an airbrush....some just work better than others and for the most part those paints formulated for airbrush use work best!
