It has water, the earmuffs on the I/O provide raw water for cooling.

It is called a heat exchanger in the marine world, acts just as a radiator would, but uses raw water to cool the coolant, turbos' air charge, engine oil, hydraulic oil ect.

A word of advice.....ALWAYS drop your outdrive to level before starting. You'll ruin your gimbal bearing and u joints in a quick fasion.

@rickrossthebosz Sorry...you are wrong. Lower the drive as much as you can before running the motor. If the u-joints break, you are going to have some very expensive damage done before you can turn the motor off.

The drive shaft between the engine coupler and outdrive upper unit is always spinning if the engine is running. The shift mechanism is in the upper unit on the drive itself. When the drive is in the full up position, it puts a lot of stress on the two U-joints on the drive shaft with the engine running. If you've ever used hand tools; think about how it gets hard to turn a universal socket at high angles. Same theory on an inboard/outboard, only bigger scale.
