  • Thanks for the upload, I am trying to get some help handling rats as I'm new to it and despite what some ignorant people think, would never want to hurt or upset them. It's easy to be absolutist about animal research when you don't have to look into the eyes of someone with MS, Alzheimers, depression, or any number of biological/psychological dysfunctions and tell them to suck it up so rats can scurry into the sunset. Any moral, intelligent person can understand not everything's black and white.

  • Oh yeah, he's not stressed?!! He's F-ing hiding in your arm fold. Like the stork who stuck it's head in the sand. Who holds his hand when your injecting him?

  • @BMWBiker2 Its a rat not a human. They are comforted by hiding in dark or tighter places. Think about it, they are a prey animal unlike us, so it is naturally comfortable for them to be hidden.

You should try understanding things from both perspectives before you claim the moral high ground.

    -an animal person

  • Am I the only one here that thinks animal testing is morally wrong, cruel and inhumane!?

  • The rat's house is way too small, and it's living alone.

  • If you don't support this kind of testing, have fun not advancing as a human race. Idiots, how do you think medicinal effects are discovered? Might as well return all your meds.

Also, rats have a large amount of excess skin around the neck, similar to a cat, and it does not hurt them in anyway to be picked up by there. In fact, its probably more preferred for them seeing as they do not react violently or show any signs of pain. Stop with this "animal abuse" bullshit. It's needed, its necessary.

  • I don't understand why your holding your rats like that. It looks painfully and you wouldn't like to be manhandled in that way, so why would a rat...plus, that cage. Fucking unsuitable.

  • I support animal testing for science (not cosmetics). But... i just wish these poor babies were taken better care of. It breaks my heart to see that rat living all alone, it' only companion a giant green thing that scruffs it :((

  • For all those people who don't know dick about rats, especially lab rats:

The most 'cruel' thing I noticed in the video is the rat was by herself in the cage. Rats are social animals, and unless there is a good reason, should never be housed alone.

Rats are NOT given drugs as routine to make them placid (unless anxyolitics are being tested or on vet advice, etc) and nor as their genes messed with it BUT they were bred for it, and some strains are supposedly calmer than others. [cont]

  • The same applies to pet rats, or any other pet animals. This is simple as selecting the most 'tame' rats to be the breeders. Spirits have not been 'broken', they learn that humans are not predators. Like pets.

Rats are prey animals. They hate light (they are more active during the night) and hate big open spaces where predators can get them. The cage is not so 'tiny' for the rat (but I don't know the size of this cage, it does look a bit too small). Rats in the wild live in burrows. [cont]

  • Although better would be a big enclosure with lots of hiding places, but that's harder to monitor the health of the rats.

The rat was picked up correctly, not by the tail, and was quickly placed on the arm. Scruffing (holding by the neck like that) is not cruel or violent for a short amount of time. I imagine the shaking around was to show the rat was firmly held and calm, not something done for the fun of it. [cont]

  • Usually if rats are held in the air with legs dangling, they will try to get back on your arm unless they are very placid. It's better to let the rat rest their feet against you or a table while being held. The problem with the video is it needs audio to explain what's going on. I have not seen or heard of anyone scruffing lab rats. There are better ways to hold the rat when giving injections. So I'm not going to comment more on it because I don't know myself.

  • I do NOT support the tests on rats! It's horrible!

    Poor baby...*sniff*

  • What most people don't know is, these lab Rats are giving stuff to make them more submissive, similar to the prisoners of the nazis back in hitler's days. And I also heard (Not yet confirmed), but the gene that makes them aggressive and bite has BEEN TAKEN OUT! so if anyone says, "Oh, he's not hurting the Rat, the Rat doesn't mind", well that's because it's medicated and butchered to be submissive.

    ~The Rat King~

  • @TheNycRatKing You have no idea what you are talking about it seems. Would you want stuff to make rats more submissive screwing around with research data, I don't...

  • thats sad

  • wtf!!!!! it´s an animal not a toy!! wonder what that person should say if i did like that with his/hers cat ( if he/she had one of course)

  • You cruel person I completely agree with "whataboutkatlin" that's horrible the poor rat it looks scared to death

  • @candosar1 I can tell you've never handled rats before

  • Laboratory animals are used for experimentation and for toxicity testing of chemical substances because society has determined that man must not be used. well these "mistreated" animals gave you the medicines that you take everyday. The testing on laboratory animals are all for our benefits.

  • I'm personally disgusted with this video. You people who like testing on animals, well, shouldn't those animals be treated with the greatest respect ever because of the fact that they are testing new products to potentially save YOUR life!? YES! I think humans should be tested on more! If it's medicine for us then it only makes sense. I believe that all living things are equals, regardless if some are more advanced than others. Don't treat animals like pieces of crap! Karma will come swiftly.

  • in reply to people saying that they're just rats and we ought to be more concerned about other issues in the world... this is atrocious. i started to cry watching this. what kind of horrible person would ever treat a living creature like that? i understand that the rats are used for medical research, which could potentially lead to the curing of many fatal diseases. but every living creature deserves respect! all i can say is that guy in the video has some bad karma coming his way.

  • I personally love animals, but i wish if people feel as much sympathy towards human being as rats... cmon guys there's more important things happening in the world... There's thousands of people dying everyday in wars... Besides these rats are used to test medicine and ultimately cure humans, would you rather have a human die than a rat?

  • I normally avoid using vulgarity, but this...why the HELL was this in my suggested videos? Ugh...Poor rats :(

  • Really...you guys "care" for rats by putting them in a cage that a dead ant couldn't be comfortable in?Where it builds up ammonia so much easier so they can get respiratory infection? And this is caring for them? Okay buddy, what ever helps you sleep at night. I understand that rats and other animals will be tested no matter what and nothing will probably change that, but at least give them a LOVING and NICE home till you do what ever the hell it is you do in the name of "medicine"

  • poor rat ;-;

  • You can see this animal technician really likes rats. He's stroking the rat frequently and his handling is expert. This is an instructional video showing various holds. The rat is professionally and calmly handled. Whether animals should be used in experiments is a different issue.

  • @Pollyannan I bet his gloved hand feels like sandpaper to that poor rats skin. It's trying to hide from the man by hiding his head within his arm. He's petting it so hard too! I would never hold my rat like it's a piece of trash.

  • "how to take 'care' of lab rats to avoid stress." im not sure grabbing them by the scruff and shaking them about like that would avoid the stress already braught on by the tiny tiny smelly cage.

  • fucking stupid ass cunt !

  • That was really mean

  • i hate you muthafucker!! GO FUCK YOURSELF YOU STUPID BITCH!! YOU DONT GO SHAKE AROUND A RAT YOU STUPID SON OF A FUCKIN BITCH!!

  • thats stupid. U`r handling it wrong

  • Yu are motha fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuiuuuyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuiyuuuuuuiioiuuuuuuiuuiuuuiassuuuuuuuckeeeeeeeasseeeeeeer

  • SO NO TO ANIMAL TESTING!!! how could you do that to a cute little rat?! WHy?!

  • Rats arent supposed to be lifted by the scruff and shook around. Would you do that to a baby? You dumbass.

  • Thankyou, little brave rattie souls, for helping humanity the way you have done. Your small, short lives were lived in fear and pain from the illnesses you were given.

You only ate lab blocks and never knew the joy of yogurt,You were scruffed and never experienced the love and warmth of a skin-to-skin cuddle. You never got to dig in the dirt, or snooze in the sun, or snuggle with a brother.

But you saved so many lives, and we thank you. There is a special place in my heart for you.

  • @Treemeadow almost cryed for that you just say it right

  • @Treemeadow

im confused..are you FOR rats experiments?

youre talking as if the rats are volunteering to do this.

animal experiments and especially rats are so unnecessary . please.

  • @natalie20136

Animals testing HAS been necessary in the past and continues to be necessary. It's horrible, horrific and often cruel, but until you're happy to go back to living in the dark ages, you can't say anything against it. Many of us would not have vaccines for illnesses like the plague or rabies if it weren't for animal testing.

  • @natalie20136 then you tell us how can we test medicine if we dont test them on the animals such as rats and mice? since obviously and logically, we cannot test on humans.

  • Ok so people know why he did the picking up by the scruff of the neck and mild shaking, its to calm the rat.

Youll see that it has calmed down after it happens.

  • @seeriktus

Because it freaking hurts. Dude, I own rats. That rat takes it because it has been conditioned to. Try that on any rat that hasn't had its spirit beaten down- it'll screech.

Did you not see the way that rat hid its head earlier? That was a sign of nervousness.

  • Even during the weekend and holidays, there are staff members to check on the health of the animals. Each research animal facility also has veterinarians on staff to maintain the health. If you are at all against animal use in research, then please remember not to receive any vaccines, antibiotics, pills, ointments, even cardiac-pacemakers and just ANY medical procedures; because before any of these could be taken and done on humans, they had been done on animals first. Plz don't be ignorant

  • you haters better recognize, that most medical advancements are made possible because we have these wonderful animals to conduct research on. Each laboratory has to go through a dozen inspections very year to be able to continue using animals, and every lab member has to go through trainings before they can touch the animals. Proper restraining techniques allow us t o give the animals treatments without hurting them unnecessarily.

  • @RoseySnakes And you need to realize that the way that man is handling the rat isn't correct.

  • 0:26 FUCKIGN DICK you cant pick them up like that!!!

  • @KandyBat I agree, these monsters know nothing about rats. Rats should always be lifted by their body.

  • @KandyBat I agree, these monsters know nothing about rats. Rats should always be lifted by their body.

  • this was deplorable. totally mis-labled, and i'm kinda queazy now. You ought to change this title.

  • ok well first of all you dont need a protective suit on to hold a fucking rat douche-bag

  • That guy is angry because his wife didn't give him a blowjob the other night. And now, the next day, he's taking revenge on a rat.

  • @adrie7777 You obviously don't agree with animal testing which I can respect. However, every single new life saving pharmacotherapy must be put through a multi step approval process before it can be used in the general public. In vivo (animal) studies are an important step of that process. If you talk to anyone with a mother/father that has suffered from serious illness and overcome it with the help of novel drugs (imatinib for CML) I'm sure they appreciate everything the animals have done.

  • @gflasker some people are just so ignorant. I agree with your view point

  • Best way to take care of a lab rat is to let it go, period.

  • Yea let's avoid stress by BOUNCING IT AROUND BY IT'S NECK!

    Fuck you!

  • Wrong. Animal cruelty. Go die.

  • ur a fucking douche

  • This is a perfect example of CRUELTY

  • the cage is to small and u where horible to it!

  • Can you do a video handling rats that have not been previously handled?

  • @racehorse87 DO NOT follow this for the love of god. If you get or have a pet rat do not pick it up like that!! rats dont have scruffs like cats, that injures them. can even break their back. please, follow a proper video or email me!!!

  • the person in the video is a fucking asshole... that is not how you handle a rat, lower stress? more like scare it out of its mind, the way you picked it up. and then you swing it about like that? complete fucking douchebag.

  • You were miss treating the poor rat i dont like you for what you are doing to the poor rat they are supose to be handled with respect what if someone holds you like that you wouldent like it will same thing for that cute rat animals have feelings you know

  • My jaw kinda dropped at the grabbing of the rat neck... it seemed so harsh and bitter in the way it was done...

  • Comment removed

  • Hi, I'm doing an assignment on my degree course on stress in relation to animals used in experiments. How does the gripping at the neck assist with reducing stress? Is it just based around the rat becoming "used" to this reaction from the owner.

Also, to those commenting, I'm an Animal Scientist and we're taught everything about the welfare of the animals we use, despite what is encouraged by the media, these rats need to be healthy and happy otherwise the test results are bias & don't matter.

  • testing on animals is wrong you know?!?

i dont care if they try to lower their stress they are still being used to test drugs or to test cosmetics such as covergirl or mabeline and yes those companys do test on anmals!!!!!!!!! sure some of you DICKHEADS think that rats and mice dont matter in this world and that they should all be killed but clearly you have no idea about how rats and mice are intelligent creatures and should have a chance to live like a new born baby dose

  • you always appreciate the amazing job the animal facility and husbandry staff does on the daily maintenence and upkeep of the animals being used for medicinal purposes. I work at Baylor College of Medicine and the transgenic mouse facility there is fantastic. Thank you guys so much!!!

  • i forgot to write this but rats ar loving pets!!!

  • i flagged this for animal abuse animals shouldnt be tested on and yes whatever you said in the info they are in stress i cant beleive you you sick person!!!

  • ya and bending it and holding it by the neck------relieving stress????

  • @toadette1fan Im with you dude...

    THE HUMAN RACE SHOULD DIE!

  • you people are stupid. medical animal testing is how many of the drugs you (or your grandma) use every day are developed. lab technicians do everything they can to keep the animals comfortable, and rats provide important information that humans are not ethically capable of doing themselves in an early stage treatment development. learn to appreciate what science does for you.

  • @digmyenigma How long has this world been here?..........Because....Id of thought humans would make something more intelligent by now..

  • @WeWillNotRockYou1 really? like robot rats to do tests on?

  • @digmyenigma Lol maybe not Robot Rats but something like that yeah

  • I have a dad that takes meds and he wishes that he never got on them. but he can't stop because the doctor said it will kill him if he stops. So all this animal testing is wrong.

  • conard !!!!!!!

  • flagged, this is cruel, and so much for not trying to stress it, it nearly got its skin pulled of u sicko!

  • agree :)

  • omg thats not even a freaken cage!!!!!!!!!!

  • flagged it ! it is so rong to test on animals

  • assholes :[ rats should be kept as pets. they are loving and should not be experimented on !

  • lab rats are cute but it sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cruel

  • That poor ratty!! I was holding one of my new baby ratties whilst watching this. I hate animal testing...

  • He/she does something wrong by handling the rat by the scruff, and people cry for their blood to spilled. Lovely.

  • im flaging this

  • i hope all the rats get out of their cages and claw your face in your sleep

  • burn in hell

  • u r sick in the head u should be ashamed of yourself this is juct cruel

  • this is cruel , i mean yes research is "needed" but for gods sake be nice to the poor lil ratties:(

  • This is horrible!!!!

  • THT IS HORRIBLE .fuucking man he can go screw his mum! the fuucking twat i hope he dies!!

  • tha rat was petrified burrying his head in the mans arm. that man was petting him like it was a chore. that man is a big fat loser

  • Comment removed

  • these creatures have saved more lives than 911. if they weren't around then mankind wud have been destroyed by now. i work on stem cells so that i can avoid working on these poor little souls

  • oh that's great. so you can work on the souls of children instead of rats. thank god you're here.

  • if this is the video that teaches you how to handle the rat, where's the video that teaches you how to cook them?!?!

  • I work in animal research; this could have been filmed at my institution. I agree with both viewpoints here: whatever the good life is for a rat, it is NOT the life of a lab rat. At BEST, lab animals live cramped, miserable lives. Usually, it is barbarism. No way around it. At the same time, unless you are willing to renounce all medicine and all surgery developed since the Renaissance, it is hard to take a principled, coherent stand against animal research. What is the solution?

  • honestly i fucking hate you. your a fucking douchebag ITS AN ANIMAL not a fucking play toy. i hope someone tests you like you tests the rats, and you die of agony from cancer instead of the innocent little rats. FUCK YOU.

  • @leedleloop67 - actually this video is really helpful... my pet rat (which i adore) is sick and i may need to bathe him and apply antibiotic ointment to his paws. and didn't know how to handle him so if he gets startled by that process, we both can avoid being hurt - he can't bite me and i won't drop him. it really is important to know these kind of techniques for any pet in the event you need to administer medicine to them to HELP the animal, such as my cutie.

  • Comment removed

  • @leedleloop67 i agree 20000% i have a pet rat just like that one and never ever would handle it like that...even when im frustrated with her, i would never do any of what he is doing. Smug bastard! (the jackass in the video) not you

  • @leedleloop67

    Your an absolute Idiot.

Everything in the world was put here for humans. Unless your a stupid person who thinks we evolved from monkeys. And its better for rats to die than humans in the future.

  • DevilDana, colasid, konamtb, jeang, crazyrat, FosteringIsMyLife, et. al. ...

    stop. .. just ... stop ..

Not only do none of you have any veteranary training, none of you have had rats as pets .. It is speciest of y'all to define cruelty by what it would have felt like to humans.

I'm glad our veteranarian knows how to handle our pair of grey Russians. He does it just as in this film, and both run up to Dr. C.

  • If you have these furry little radiant beings as part of your family, at some time or another you will need to get them to a veteranarian.

This film teaches veteranary students how to interact with these little beings to give them the healthcare they require without freaking them out.

  • cruel!! poor rat *cry*

  • You evil bastard, this needs removing and the one IN the labcoat is the REAL RAT imo.

I hope you die in agonywhile paralysed and a 100 rats slowly chew you up then spit out your evil self

fag burn in hell arturaguas 4 posting this evil crap

  • You sir, are an ignorant prick.

  • im a woman retard

  • Is it illegal to educate women in your country? or are you just exceptionally stupid?

  • get a life u stupid im from nz prolem wif dat im 13

  • Comment removed

  • what the fuck is wrong with you! Why would you shake a rat like that!!!!!!

    burn in hell asshole.

  • u must be mentally fucked up

  • ur so mean u dont shake the rat u dumby u want me 2 come and hold u by the neck and shake u in the air

  • thats tight. inject urself with dat crap

  • a cage for 2 rats should be at least 80cm tall,100cm width and 70-80cm front to back and that cage is no way half that size

  • He's a lab rat. The size of his cage is the least of his worries...

  • You evil bastard, this needs removing and the one IN the labcoat is the REAL RAT imo.

I hope you die in agonywhile paralysed and a 100 rats slowly chew you up then spit out your evil self

  • i HATE YOU BITCHES TESTING THINGS ON RATS THEY ARE THE SWEETEST AND HE IS SO FRIGHTEND AND UNHEALTHY YOU BITCH

  • thats so sad. the person is just swinging it around like they dont csre how it feels. I feel so bad for the poor little guy

  • That is not normal rat behavior!!!! That rat has literally gone mad in that cage!!!!

  • How?

  • How what? I can't remember what my comment was. :)

  • it is crazy

  • Ok, personally I think that testing on animals in this day and age is no longer needed, but I will acknowledge that because of this there have been amazing, life-changing discoveries, however, I think that keeping that poor rat in that tiny cage where it can't even stand up is pointless cruelty.

  • I'm afraid I have to take issue with that. Since the Nuremberg Code was put into place, animal testing of drugs and procedures meant for humans has meant that literally thousands of damaging or lethal drugs were never tested in humans, sparing a great many potential human subjects from damage or death. (You will be happy, however, to know that some computer simulations of rat behavior have been developed that take the place of real rats (e.g. Sniffy the Virtual Rat) for educational purposes. )

  • What's your point?! That was in 1947, medical technology has come a long way since then, and besides, what's SO wrong with human experimentation???? < Is it the fact that they know what's going on? Because really, that's the ONLY difference, that's why people kid themselves it's morally unacceptable, because the test subject is aware!!!! There is still no 100% accurate way of determining whether a dose given to an animal will have the same effect on a the human species!!!!

  • Calm down, you're getting incoherent. And yes, there IS a way of determining whether a dose given to animal will have the same effect on a human being. The simple fact is the physiology of a rat is not that different from the physiology of a human being. (CONT...)

  • If for example, we can establish in a rat that a drug's metabolism is affected by a liver cytochrome enzyme shared by both humans and rats, then we immediately know not to coadminister that drug in human beings along with another drug that is metabolized by the same enzyme, for risk of overdose. This is one of many pieces of information we can glean from animal studies that save human lives.

  • Furthermore, saying the Code was established in 1947 in no way repudiates what I said. All it means is that animal experimentation has been saving human lives since 1947. That's a lot of lives.

As for "what's so wrong with human experimentation?" - I personally value humans more than animals. If you feel so strongly about this issue, feel free to offer your services to science as a subject for AIDS or cancer research. No doubt you will save the life of a rat or two.

  • And BTW, my original point, which you have no weirdo answer for is that keeping the animals in labs in appalling conditions does not further science, it merely shows a misplaced lot of morals. Keeping a rat in a box where it cannot stand, rabbits in a box with their heads sticking out, and monkeys in a tiny cage with no comforts. What is the point in this obvious cruelty?!?!?!

  • My "weirdo" answer (and apparently "weirdo" means "knows something about rats and/or science" to that is that the burrows that rats dig themselves in the wild are much smaller and much less safe than these cages. Furthermore, the rat CAN stand up in the cage AS IT IS DOING AT THE BEGINNING OF THE VIDEO, can move around comfortably, and lives in a climate controlled environment with medical care available if it becomes sick.

  • The rat is not standing straight!!!! And in the wild they can emerge whenever they feel safe to walk, run, stretch and stand up tall! They do not condemn themselves to a life in their "burrow". DO SOME RESEARCH! Wild rats are much less susceptible to disease than domesticated rats, and being ripped up by larger foragers is NATURE something I have nothing against, animal attacking animal is the circle of life!!!!

  • Nor does it have to fend off stoats, weasels, feral cats and dogs, badgers, hawks, racoons, or any of the other animals that would mercilessly rip it to shreds and eat it if they could, not to mention the possibility of starving or dying of some hideous wasting disease.

  • Eh, I still don't get your point! And I don't want to know the ins-and-outs of science, I'm saying that there is no complete *100%* way of determining it. Even drugs humans have been taking for ages can still have a bad effect on a particular group of people, sometimes for unknown reasons, so to say the the effect it has on an animal is the same as it will have on humans is incomprehensible!!!!

  • Are you saying science has to know EVERYTHING that will happen to EVERYONE at ALL TIMES before it is of any use?

  • But then again, you "don't want to know the ins-and-outs of science". You just want to be free to change anything that does meet your immediate approval, no matter how many people it kills. If you don't like it, then feel free to pledge that you personally will not accept, at any point in your life, any kind of medical or surgical treatment that was developed through animal research. In case you're wondering, that would be ALL OF THEM.

    I'm done with you.

  • Well, what did I say in my 1st comment?!? I acknowledged that many, many life saving treatments were discovered through animal research and did NOT say that they should not have been carried out!!!! However, if a human being is willing to risk their life for science, why not let them?!? Why make an animal endure the torment? And you are cowering away from my earlier questions, choosing to answer only the ones you feel are applicable to your low morals!

  • Oh, and BTW, by you saying "I'm done with you", does that mean you can't take it when someone on here actually stands up for their point and replies to your silly comments? Or have you realized that you really know NOTHING about rats, biology, sciences or moral standings?!?

  • its nice that he was petting the rat though =D

  • Before he jams a needle into his eye, yum.

  • thats horrible!!! rats are such loving intelligent animals! what next, are you going to test on dogs and little kids!!!?????

  • We already do test on dogs...

  • and this is also coming from someone who is insulin dependant, there are ways to know what is going on with a human body other then checking what happens to a RAT.

even if our genetics are simular.

you can always tell how advanced a society is by how they treat their animals. you are equal to a neandrethal

  • My goodness, you're so compassionate and advanced in your thinking. I'm certain that a person of your sterling character would willingly swear to never partake of any medicine or surgical procedure that was developed through animal testing.

    So stop taking your insulin.

  • (Don't actually stop taking your insulin. But do be aware that animal research has made life-saving medical treatment available for you and for many others with your disease and others like it.)

  • rats live in the wild like a cat lives in the wild, same as rabbits live in the wild. what does that have to do with keeping them in small cages away from sunlight, roaming area, love, and being able to be a happy creature. you are sick, perverse, and i hope someone sticks you with a needle the same ratio as they get.

if you can look at a creature and put harm to it you need help

  • I'm sick and perverse because I have a different opinion than you? If that's your world view, then I have no interest in speaking further.

But one last thing: when you talk about keeping rats in small cages "away from sunlight", you're aware rats don't care for sunlight, aren't you? They're nocturnal.

You know nothing about these animals - get informed before you tell me I'm wrong.

  • Rats are not nocturnal, but you are right, too they do not care for sunlight.

  • go to hell

  • pore rat i fill bad he is a lab rat ):

  • What The Fuck Are You Doing, Don't Shake it!

  • probably you are alive thanks to them

  • I hate FUCKING ANIMAL EXPERMENTS ITS CRUEL AND OUTRAGOUS!!!! i have had pet rats and there the sweetest!! fuck wanker science people!

  • What's so cruel about them? Consider that 99% of lab rodents live safer, better fed, and disease-freer lifestyles than wild rodents - and that work with animals saves the lives of human beings, including children whose diseases never could have been cured without the insight that comes from animal work.

  • But maybe it's not good for their lives to be risk free & dull. Even when food is readily present in a bowl, most animals would prefer to search and forage. They need the stimulation and challange that a natural life provides.

And why is a childs life any more valid than a rats? A rat still values it's life just as much as a child. It's not their problem, it's ours and we should fix it without involving other species.

  • There we are going to have to disagree. I believe the inherent worth of a human child's life is greater than that of a rat's, because I am human and value humans more than rats. This is a prejudice I share with virtually every other species on earth, so I don't feel too bad about it.

I suggest you look at Jane Goodall's studies at Gombe Station when it comes to animals preferring a steady source of food vs. the "joy of foraging." :)

  • poor.babiesX(!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have to say, this video makes me sad, no living being should have to live in those conditions, not for medicine, not for cosmetics and certainly not for human curiosity.

  • What conditions did you find so offensive? You know how rats live in the wild, right?
