I don't believe there is a magic way of removing vocals without effecting the instrumentals behind it.

I know theres some methods of muting certain vocal frequencies but it tends to ruin the sound of the tracks.

I have the film version of the song, the long version of the song, and the John Barry soundtrack for the film, but no direct instrumental.

Its on the vinyl. The 3rd track on it. I When you say the film version do u mean the opening/main titles/sequense? I know the are 3 variations of the John Barry version then theres the a-ha version.

Eh yeah, the versions I have are the 4m 16s one ripped from a Best of Bond song compilation - it's the regular film version; and a 6m 56s version with a whole bunch of extra musical cues in it - took me a while to find that one. Oh and the John Barry TLD Special Edition CD soundtrack.

But didn't know there was a straight instrumental. I love those. One of my favourites is an instrumental of the Sin City signature song, 'Cells' by The Servant.
