@val71tx You can use either. I have a microphone jack that is easy to get to so that is what I use. plug your cord into the red mic slot to use the "microphone" option. use the blue line in slot to use the "line in" option. hope this helps.

The cable that I use is around $4 at Radio Shack but you can get the 6 foot cable for $6 if you like a longer cable.
