The Mercury Music 'Prize' is appalling. Upon what grounds are these records chosen? On what planet does jazz and classical music 'compete' with pop? This back-slapping farce is wholly despicable and so predictable.
And the prize goes to the usual 'slightly leftfield' indie act. Enough to boost record sales abit without rocking the boat e.g. Gomez, Bat for Lashes, Klaxons, 'Elbow' etc.
Next time please lets bomb the venue before this yearly embarrasment can take place.

In fact, I personally have more respect for the Brits. They tend to give them for the acts that sell the most records. It's a more clear-cut criterion.
