I asked him did all Metallica songs sound like that, he took a deep breath obviously annoyed at my ignorance and simply said,if you like one Metallica song,you'll love them all. Agree with flea. Slayer and Possessed may have been more extreme, Megadeth and Testament may have had more interesting guitar work and Anthrax may have been more fun and insane but Metallica just put all the elements together like no other band from that scene.

A lot of the great songs that came from this band either wouldn't have been, or wouldn't have been quite the same, without Dave. I'm sure that Dave was probably invited and chose to be an asshole and not come but that doesn't make his contribution to this band any less significant.

Yeah... he was! Especially during the Cliff-part of the speech! He and Burton were very close! So, he probably was quite taken back by that whole tribute... alot of nice memories, but also of course a very sad memory of a tragic loss! Makes one cry, easily!

@infuzion211 - Mustaine wasn't included in the group inducted into the Hall of Fame. Wikipedia lists Cliff Burton, Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield, Jason Newsted, Robert Trujillo, and Lars Ulrich.

@infuzion211 Well, I don't think that's a great thing. Dave is an asshole and he has issues but he was still a very important part of Metallica. A lot of the great songs that came from this band either wouldn't have been, or wouldn't have been quite the same, without Dave. I'm sure that Dave was probably invited and chose to be an asshole and not come but that doesn't make his contribution to this band any less significant.

Fuckin eh right to every bit of that speech Flea the poet...shitty made tape of Master Of Puppets that i borrowed from a friend in grade 7 changed my musical life (and my dad's haha) forever. Metallica is the greatest band to ever grace te pages of rock history and they still sound as amazing live today as they did 25+ years ago. Thanks for getting me through the good times and the bad times!

but to answer your question muisicismycandy, they origionally were not going to induct jason and they were going to induct cliff burton seperatly but james said if they were with metallica during the release of a record, they will get inducted. however mustaine left just before kill em all and mcgovney left just before mustaine left

Dave mustaine only wrote a few songs on kill 'em all. And fight fire with fire isn't on kill 'em all. Above that, he isn't even featured ob kill 'em all because they kicked him out before the recordings. So every solo in every song your hear on the album, is Kirk Hammett's interpretation
