is there a main rule to making any verb progressive i noticed when you helped me out last time you turn watching mimasu to mite imasu watching please let me know
@kidnitroful Watashi wa terebi o mimasu means I will watch tv or I watch tv. To be progressive you want to say watashi wa terebi o mite imasu " I am watching tv"
sooo prefect timing I found this series of videos - you already helped me remember the weekdays and now the exact verbs I'm always mixing up! arigatou gozaimasu! :D
@CrashPilot4 there´s no L, the hiragana syllabary there are characters for ra,ri,ru,re and ro but you pronounce the japanese r like a strange mix of d,l and r...
I grew up in Japan so I just listen to these videos and it all comes back. Hope to get fluent again. So much easier than learning from books or finding someone to converse with you in Japanese.
Question! Do verbs in Japanese vary depending on *who is doing what? Like in Spanish -I go, you go, he goes, we go, etc. ? Thank you so much for the lessons! :D
@WorldisArt ~ Japanese doesn't really have a 'singular, plural' or '1st, 2nd, 3rd person' chart like many other languages. Like 'tabemasu' could mean; I eat, you eat, he eats, they eat, we eat, etc. Makes life simple.
@WorldisArt Tabemasu simply means to eat which would be too vague to indicate who is eating. If a person makes a gesture before eating then says tabemasu then that is acceptable to show the one with the food will be eating, but it would be better to say who is eating for clarification. Watashi wa tabemasu yo (I will eat it), aitsu ga tabemasu yo (he/she will eat it), watashitachi wa tabemasu yo (we will eat it), aitsutachi ga tabemasu yo (Those guys/girls will eat it) ("Yo" isn't necessary).
Thank you I learned a lot

@shikanda25 You might want to refrain from saying "Jap." It's considered rude by most people.
