I asume you say 720 because HD tv's are 1080p or 720p but its not 720x***. 720p HD is 1280x720, so 960x600 really isn't high at all.

And i don't understand why playing as low as 640x480 would be any benifit. Unless it's just to increase your fps which obviously you don't need to do if you can play crysis so smooth...

If you are using a tft monitor then you should really use the native resoloution for it as they do not upscale well at all and it just results in stretched pixels.
