  • The big one-off ones are the biggest but those are expensive and unreliable. Serial production models such as the above one are much much cheaper but more efficient overall.

  • it is a shovel not an excavator but they also arnt the largest in the world the mines of northern minnesota have some of the biggest dump trucks in the world my grandpa was a diesel mechanic on those trucks for most of his life. plus i live in the town that this footage was shot.

  • Have lunch there least once a week :)

  • for such a big truck the tray looks so small

  • I thought the RH400 was the biggest.

  • Ive lived in south east queensland all my life and ive driven past many mines but ive never seen the biggest exavator go queensland!

  • That's a Bucyrus, they have twin booms and a single stick....P&H has single boom and twin sticks.

  • Hate to tell you but there is bigger ones in Queensland Australia

  • @deanandkerin

Probably is, but at the time they made the video of it construction for a TV series it was. I believe it was made back before 2006.

  • @jkallinen That's a Bucyrus 295 BII, it's never been the largest. The P&H 2800 was introduced 3 years before the 295, weighed around 300 tons more, and swung a bucket that was larger by about 4 to 9 yards depending on how it was spec'd out.

  • @alco424 At the time of the filming of the TV show Extreme Engineering, the show was filmed in 2006.

  • @jkallinen Yeah, but the point I am trying to get across here, is the 295 is not a really large shovel, and it has never been the biggest. When it was introduced, there were already bigger shovels. In 2006, there were considerably larger shovels than that 295, so whoever told you that was the biggest, sold you a pile of trash. I run a shovel built in 1997 that weighs more than twice what the 295 weighs, and swings a bucket that is more than twice as big.

  • @deanandkerin hells yeah! Bowen Basin!

  • @deanandkerin Try the two at Century mine 1999 Bucyrus 3 models up in size still great to look at

  • @deanandkerin Hate to tell you but he sayd "" Almost """ rsss

  • @deanandkerin This is not an excavator at all so it can not be the worlds largest excavator,. tHIS IS WHAT IS KNOWEN AS A SHOVEL. an excavator pulls its load to it like a back hoe. a shovel pushes its load away then lifts it.

  • Hard to tell what it is; P&H or Bucyrus rope shovel?

  • Going to get wet if he isn't careful. Thanks for the video.
