  • I really think his old friend Stuart Adamson influenced DS a lot.

  • just great....wonderful lyrics...

  • He's a Kentucky Boy... what else needs to be said?

  • It is great to hear music like this after all the nonsence that is being played today. I can't believe I havent heard of him till now.

  • Anyone know where I can find the charts to this?

  • real music right here

  • Great Tune.............

  • Live within means of my own two hands. Inked on my ribs from this song

  • Lol.

  • The guy from dos equis comes to him for advice

  • This is Robert De Nero's brother.

  • I am not sure this man is really singing about a river. I know troubles of this degree. Go Darrell, Go!

  • I would sell my soul to sing and play like this...

  • What a beautiful performance. He makes that acoustic vibe. Very crisp. Amazing voice. Man's got it all. Great genre -- agree with you guys.

  • Agreed

  • ive just been re inspired by folk music. what an amazing scene to be a part of.

  • I Saw him a few years ago at fhe Kerrville Folk Fest, out of my seeing many artist at the Kerrfest for several years, he and Jack Williams are my two favorite performers at the festivals. They both are also very nice to answer questions and talk to.

  • This is a terrific song froma terrific storyteller / songwriter. Another favorite is "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive." Darrell Scott is a wonderful real time songwriter singer, the likes of which I haven't heard in years. Thanks for posting!

  • saw him with the band of joy at wanee. he rocked it!

  • Saw Darrel and Band of Joy two nights ago. Their version of "A Satisifed Mind" makes you cry when you hear what five voices can do together. He is an incredible talent on guitar, banjo and mandolin. I look forward to learning more about Darrel and his music. Check out Robert Plant and the Band of Joy!

  • If he had been born 30 years earlier he'd be as big as Willie. Unfortunately we live in an age of prepackaged talentless (but pretty) record company cookies that we're told to enjoy. Lucky for us people like Darrell write the songs for the pretty boys to sing.

  • the 2 people that disliked are either 1.deaf or 2.made of stone. or both!

  • @DoorMat444 its more likely that they just have bad aim when it comes to clicking a mouse

  • fucken awesome wooooo :)

  • There needs to an additional three zeros added to this view count. So glad to have tripped across this incredible artist...all because of the Hummingbird song

  • Is this, by any chance, about the flooding in the coal fields?

  • @SuperNotSerious retracted, I figured out what it was about.

  • Thanks for posting this...!!

  • Ouch! Darrell you are SO right.

  • what an amazing artist!!! love his singing and playing...he's "real" .....

    10* fabulous post!!!!

  • Who is this man, really??? I write what I know about.

  • Fantastisch!

  • d scott is THE man

  • fantastic! who is this guy?

  • It doesn't really matter what type of music you like. Good music is good music, and this brand of shit is something we can all relate to.

  • That's a fine sounding guitar, and looks to be nice playing. I covet it.

  • You like this? Check out "Live at NC" by far the best cd I've ever bought.

  • Man, so much soul, and feeling, in those words. Pretty damn good!

  • Wonderful!

  • seriously, why am I just now hearing of this man? incredible.

  • @fearthetube

    How True!

  • @fearthetube For every 1000 underground performers out there, there are a few who are this good. It's a shame that they don't get properly recognized for so long, if at all...What a treasure, I could listen all day!

  • Beautiful. Saw myself 100 times in those lyrics.

  • christie bratherton is a moron

  • wow, i also write/sing/play/record folk music, and i loved that jam. impressive guitar work very nice

  • F C G Am

  • Anybody know the chords?

  • Great song--lovely guitar--what type of guitar is this--greatsound

  • It's a Taylor K20

  • @Goldie450 Taylor all Koa wood dreadnought

  • What amazes me most about Darrell's performances is how each time is significantly different. I saw him this past weekend in Fort Worth, and each song was different from the recordings on youtube. Truly one of our generations greatest musical talents. Raw and refined in the same package.

  • NAME THAT GUITAR

  • Yes well put - raw and refined in one package. That makes for exciting variation so much more interesting than the smooth and the terminally formulaic.

  • TOPS

    thanks for sharing Nancy

  • Great stuff!

  • One of my favorite songwriters. Thanks a lot for posting this great song. You captured him at his best.

  • Anybody know the chord progression. I love this song, check out Sam Bush's version.

  • Wow, that was awesome!

  • This voice and this guitar playing is all you need - bare bones awesome!

  • I love his voice!!

  • underated is the best word to describe darrell scott and even that is an understatement

  • agreed

  • A masterful performance... one of the strongest solo pieces I've ever had the pleasure to witness. Control, dynamics, and a vocal that tears right to the soul of the listener. Poetry. Period.

  • Absolutely

  • <3 This is amazing.
