  • I hate every second watching this..too overated

  • To al the people who think they, or somebody else can do better, or that is was not flawless. The fact that Frank Zappa choose to have Terry as a drummer says enough, I guess....

  • I think he messed up just a little at 0:29 :/

  • CEASARS PALACE BLUES DRUMS

  • It ain't funky....

  • chuck norris can do the same playing with 1 hand

  • Where's the "funky"?

  • @JackKiller95 That's what I thought. Dennis Chambers it aint.

  • hey i lov3 bozzio but funky he is not!!!.........there is nothing relevant to funk here.....this title is missleading.............

  • @jordanjcm OH ok I get it know. You're a troll, lol. You probably think Lars Ulrich is the most sophisticated drummer around don't you? Listen buddy, if you wanna criticize, then you damn well better know your shit. Obviously, you don't. I will agree that a lot of Terry's videos on here aren't so great, but when he plays well, he tears up those drums. Immature faggots like you are the ones who are going to turn the world into place where punk drumming is top of the line.

  • Check out jordan's channel for the video of him one-upping bozzio.

  • Bozzio should score Donkey Kong games

  • Boring

  • Bozzio= Melodic Drumming

  • cool!!

  • Random notes my ass. This is melodic drumming.

  • @LedWilde Random is NOT necessarily a bad thing.

  • @jordanjcm No, it's not. You're absolutely right.

  • @jordanjcm Oh, and this guys used to be in a band called "the Mothers of Invention". Check them out sometime you get a few minutes. See, there was this man called frank zappa who passed away several years ago...

  • This might be off topic, but I really would like to see Thomas Lang try out Terry Bozzio's drum set.

  • I was looking all over for my empty maxwell house coffee can. Well.............

  • and he just had to join korn :-/

  • Bozzio was deemed worthy of being in Frank Zappa's band. If that isn't praise enough for his skill, i do not know what is. I'm no drummer, but the fact that Bozzio can keep that hi-hat going on a steady beat for the entirety of the performance whilst playing some pretty ridiculous polyrhythms over the top, never ceases to amaze me. Legend.

  • @IainPeters91 Listen to Led Zeppelin if hi hat control amazes you, Bonham is perfect

  • @IainPeters91 Polyrhythms, shmollyrythms. Boring and you know it. If you are a drummer and you can NOT do polyrhythms it would ONLY be because you are a beginner. .

  • @jordanjcm You should post that video of you playing Black Page. Come on, you know you want to put it up. I mean...you can do that, right? Or are you a beginner?

  • @monkfishstuff LOL. Beginners.

  • @monkfishstuff All talk.

  • @monkfishstuff Maybe I am a beginner, maybe I am not. You can insult me. I can take it. Bozzio can too .Bozzio is Bozzio. I really respect him. There is a REASON drummers do not play 400 piece drum kits with 300 cymbals in such a way. Guys that want to make all those sounds SHOULD play the fucking piano or something. I do NOT find any "feel" what so ever, to his playing. My opinon should NOT matter to anyone. I also do NOT like ANY classical music. How dare I ?

  • @jordanjcm I applaud you, sir, for your tenacity and your dedication. And I appreciate your opinion, and your taste in music, even if my ear might not always agree with you in so far as what we might appreciate as listeners. I do have to disagree with you in saying that drummers...shouldn't play 400 piece kits. A drummer should be able to make one drum sound great, musically, with feel. But if they CAN do that, then more options isn't bad. piano is, after all, a rhymic instrument.

  • @jordanjcm And for what its worth, you dont NEED to like classical music, although I DO. It is worth noting how music influences itself, coming from different cultures (and I'm more of a latin/afro lover myself than typical eurocentric classical music (although I love that too). But Bozzio does have a ENORMOUS polyrhymthic feel to it, and thats just some of what he does. He can groove with the best of them as well, trust me. But you dont have to trust me either. Like it or dont.

  • @jordanjcm And, I mean no insult, but if polyrhythms are inherently easy, or beginner stuff, than black page should be no problem. But thats the thing with polyrhythms, or music in general. Anyone can play a son clave block pattern, but where do you go from there? Bozzio has taken polyrhythms to a wild wild place (mangini too I should note), which is, in my opinion, just as wild as the way that players like Purdie took simple grooves to a new level of grooviness.

  • @jordanjcm And on that note, if you dont like innovation, or reimagining of an instrument as melodic and percussive, as drums ideally should be, thats okay. But you should remember that the drum kit is still less than two hundred years old by most standards. Imagine where it could be in another 200 years? And so many cultural standards that modern day "grooves" with feel are based off of have elements of polyrhythms within them, so to discount it entirely just seems a little off.

  • @monkfishstuff I never "discounted" polyrhythms. Some people use the word "polyrhyhms" like it is ONLY super complex. In fact drummers play them SO often without even knowing it. I mean to play the drums you use ALL four limbs. I mean maybe looking up the word "polyrhythm" in the dictionary might help people to grasp that there are simple polyrhthms, all the way up to very complex. P.S. I actually like Bozzio (when he was younger). Now he trys to do WAY.

  • @jordanjcm And work on your technique. Your stick twirling is great. Your technique needs a little work. Practice pad! Good stuff man.

  • @jordanjcm You obviously don't understand polyrhythmic playing. To say something as brief as "If you are a drummer and you can NOT do polyrhythms it would ONLY be because you are a beginner" makes no sense. There are simple polyrhythms, and then there are complex ones. You know, I read your first comment, and it's obvious that you think you know a lot more than you actually do. You seem like nothing more than a narcissistic amateur.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX Yes I am as narcissistc as is possible. You should listen to this a couple more times. This time with your eyes closed and your mind open (for the first time) Listen as though this is some guy named Joe smith playing. You will be like "yeah this is just an average attemp at playing the drums all "rythmic". If not then I guess you are right and this is a masterpice and should be learned by all? Take a pill. Fame and talent are often misnderstood.

  • @jordanjcm This is not an "average" attempt. This is a professional doing his thing. Either way, the mere fact that you just admitted to being a narcissistic makes everything you have said and will say obsolete and invalid. Well done.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX Everything I say is invalid and obsolete. You're so angry. LOL Just because everyone of Terry Bozzios videos has an incredible amount of negative comments does not prove anything. That is very true and my comments mean nothing. The fact that remains that in everyone of his videos is a display of horrible drumming.

  • Comment removed

  • @jordanjcm To call this, or his drumming terrible is just plain silly. I'm sure I wouldn't alone in thinking that your only way of winning this argument is to post a video of what REAL drumming is, as you would play it, as compared to bozzio. If you're willing to judge so harshly you no doubt are up to that challenge. So SHOW US. If. You. Can.

  • @monkfishstuff Because, I'm pretty sure there is no end to this that doesn't involve me laughing hysterically.

  • Does anyone really ever enjoy anthing Bozzio plays ? I always hear how he plays complicated "this" and he is so good at "that" and how he plays "notes" and people go on and on about his style. I have never enjoyed a single thing he has Ever played. He is supposed to be a musician but he always just seems to play random, crap. Is should be "enjoyable" to the ears. People call him "the best"? If making "random" sounds that never seem to fit together is the best then, yeah.

  • @jordanjcm if you what you hear here is random play, I think your ears need to be fixed.

  • @jordanjcm Listen to "Cairo" or "Samba Ousado", If you still think it's a bunch of random sounds, then there's something wrong with you.

  • @jordanjcm

Don't blame him if you can't follow it/ don't get it or even don't care...just move on and accept that the guys doing something worthwhile even if you don't get it, your not required to like it! He's an explorer.

I personally hear music all around and thru what he does.Maybe you just have to admit that it's somewhere your head isn't at.

  • @JNeifion I don't blame him. I don't blame justin bieber, I dont blame the people if I do not like their music. I do not judge a musician by what they have done or have not done. I know what My ear likes. Same as everyone. Obviously I should not have insulted the guy, that was immature. Have you ever insulted a musician in your life? If not, you are my hero.

  • bullshit,that aint funky

  • Limited vocabulary = limited communication.

  • but this stuff is still cool jus hard for the average person to feel it

  • he sounds better when he uses smaller kits

  • For the same reason a car guy wants a 500HP engine in a street car - It's fun.

  • @ssureshot Yeah maybe its like having a car with 550hp, but He would lose a lot of races to guys driveing smart cars. Thats the point you may be missing

  • I agree Terry Bozzio is one of hte best players in the world but i still think, Why the fuck he needs all of that drums and cymbals

  • @newbiepl because everyone of those drums and cymbals has a diferent tone... its like those little keyboards that have like just 3 octaves and still you can play an entire song... that would be like normal drum set. but you could also use an entire piano with more tones.. that would be like terry´s drum set

  • @newbiepl more notes, more toys to play with. it's like asking an artist why he buys 100s of different kinds of canvases, brushes, paints, pencils, etc. because it gives you more stuff to explore, express, and have fun with.

  • Such a great performance!
