  • guy 0:33 where did his orange rod go !!

  • @thebigboss972 , Look at the front, right quarter of the kayak and you will see an orange rod. Is that what you're looking for?.

  • This guy has fucking balls^^

  • Hey jceviche, I have a question me and my buddies are planning on going out into the SF bay and along the coast near Pacifica, and Santa Cruz California. Do you know what it is like fishing out there? What supplies will we need to reel in a shark, our main goal is to catch and release three sharks off the coast and in the Bay. Thanks.

    - Mike

  • @SentUpInSmoke Mike, I have not fished in Pacifica or Santa Cruz area but but like any water in the West Coast when water temperature are between 52-72F degrees and when the bait fish are thick it's bound to be predators around. Go find some bait ball I mean big bait ball that's boiling, slow troll a CD-14 Rapala in Mackerel, Sardine or Mullet pattern should do the trick. Use 30lbs or better main line, a swivel between main line and a ten feet fluorocarbon leader 40-80 lbs.

    TL Johnny Ceviche

  • @jceviche Thanks partner! Tight Lines!

  • awh. just wittle guyy!

  • "T's a Makooo," as he gently brought the shark up from the water "YEEHEE!" He shouted in excitement. It wasn't long until he plunged the beast back into the sea.

  • "It's a Mako, yeehee!! *spalsh*"

    Made my day hahaha

  • Cool video man! I'd be so scared lol!

  • Comment removed

  • That's crazy. At 3:40, he bites the kayak to try and get free. I'm glad you released him.

  • THanks for releasing that beautiful shark. I have a tattoo of a mako, so they are my favorite. :)

  • cool

  • thank you for releasing him! but dayum, THERE IS no ROOM TO MOVE ON THAT LITTLE THING!!

  • WOW!! GREAT CATCH!

  • glad to see that you released it

  • Nice video. It looks like that shark may have had a some sort of tag on its dorsal fin.

  • catch and release is obviously better than killing everything, but what happens to such fish is unclear. That Mako was probably physically shattered by the experience of being caught, given that animals are always only a meal away from death perhaps it will have died shortly after. Not being critical of the video though, just something that occurred to me.

  • Cool videos. How far have you been pulled while fishing in a kayak?

  • @juice12369 I've been towed three miles by a Thresher Shark weighing over hundred pounds.

  • Anyone know where that was shot?To me- looks like Newport Beach,Ca.....

  • Beautiful fish!

  • i love how he yells hehe and then throws it. lol nice vid!

  • r u sure thats not a baby great white the markings and the the mouth it has that pure great white smile and the perfect coloring u r a very lucky man and so respectful of nature thank u

  • Ernest Hemingway use to throw grenades at these guys to get them off his line.

  • i like this guy. nice work.

  • Just awesome - think yall are insane going open ocean but something I am looking to try just looks like a blast - tight lines

    J

  • i like this!

  • @kayapierlu86 Thanks mate.Tight lines johnny ceviche

  • Mako sharks are awesome... the fastest of the sharks, and they look like miniature pissed off Great Whites!

  • i would laugh if he lost his rod

  • @TheMeowmixeater sorry to disappoint you but if you look closer you will find out that all my fishing rods have leash attached to them at all times. Have not lost a single fishing rod in over a decade of kayak fishing.

    Tight lines,

    johnnyceviche

  • did he get wrapped around the line or something cuz it looked awkward there

  • Nice! People don't realize how difficult even small sharks are to handle, let alone in a kayak. Props to you, man.

  • Excellent Job.

  • Omg! The shark has such a cute face with big brighty eyes!!! -3

  • Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • catch and release...that's cool

  • @Andy14 Thanks for watching

  • nice mackerel to live bait with!!!

  • What's your background mate? Polynesian?

  • @tienefuego I'm from the Philippines

  • @jceviche wer was this caught?

  • @GoneDeathMode LaJolla Socal.

  • Have you ever dropped one of your tools in the water?

  • @tienefuego So far to date I've lost 1 gaff,1 bonnet 1 flashlight and a sunglass in 10 years of kayak fishing.

  • @jceviche Hats off! You're a cool MF! All the best.

  • They call that there the Nantucket Sleigh Ride.

  • dude on a kayak u just hunt for mako. You're hardcore ay!

  • wow you're a nice guy cause you let it go :)

  • je to kokot sadista čurák

  • to je fake jako sfiňa, ten borec je na kajaku, ale ten kajak je upevněn k lodi, se to vůbec nehoupe. Je to normální zkurvený sadista, čurák !!!!!

  • ohhh jajaja this dude have no afraid to be alone in the middle of the sea in a kayac and fish a mako shark jajajaja

  • must be a baby mako, right?

  • out of your mind

  • Sharks need to be admired for their beauty and elegence, not for their flesh and fins. Kudos to you for keeping the shark safe and for catching such great footage of it. Keep up the good work!

  • turn your clicker off

  • @zakk4u ,

No I don't fish for sharks up North, only rock fish around Big Sur area.

    TL,

    Johnnyceviche

  • Johnny is the man. I'm trying to catch my first shark (thresher/leopard/mako) from a yak. I'll see you out in LJ Johnny. For those who have negative comments, you can watch fluffy kitten videos instead.

  • i think you need a bigger boat

and great dude u let it go..

  • excellent, nice catch, and well handled!

  • Dud e this guy is THE MAN!

  • you have some balls

  • Your very lucky you didn't get bit. Those little ones can turn completely around and bite you. Good video keep at it THUMBS UP!!!

  • good effort...i cant wait until i catch a shark on my kayak :P

    thanks

  • Aw, Its adoreable

  • @mak3myda3 YOU CALL THAT A FISH LOL I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS GUY DO SOME MARLIN FISHING ON THAT LMFAO THE GUY WOULD OF BEEN PULLED OUT ABOUT A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES BEFORE HE WOULD LAND IT LMFAO

  • @thebearjewkiller1976 Well, all i said was "Aw, its adorable" I implied that it wasnt very impressive. Not sure if you caught on to that or not...

  • thats really really good....

  • Does anyone have an intelligent answer to why this is not unnecessary cruelty?

The hook is left in there, and is makes for an excellent entry for infections. Many months before the hook slowly is repelled while turning into a rusty crooked nail. Hopefully is't not going down the digestive tract. No guarantees.

I just don't see how this is justified at all. Go fight a bunch of drug dealers, if you want top be a man and make some use of it.

  • @impalaSS65 Most hooks used in saltwater fishing will rust completely out in a matter of a couple weeks and are completely human and cause no harm to the fish/sharks.

  • @impalaSS65 for catch and release they often use a a plain steel hook instead of a stainless steel so the hook desolves from the saltwater within a week yes it still rust but the salt water keeps it clean and sharks rarely get sick

  • @dragondancer2004

First - this is for sick pleasure only.

Second - A week? No. Please don't waste my time by guessing wildly. A hook from carbon steel that has to with stand fierce twithces from a several 100kg Shark needs to have a certain guage. I've found nail decades old in salt water...

True that sharks has a higher resistance to illness - but on the other hand, we do know very little about sharks compared to humans and other mammals.

  • Just don't like how you get him back to his element.

I suppose you know better than me how to threat shark!

  • That looks like a lot of fun.

  • Thanks for letting it go.

  • @spatulapancakepork ,

    You're welcome,

    Cheers,

    Johnnyceviche

  • lmao that is an awsome vidieo thats crazy that u do that in a kayak, here in new york i wouldnt go striped bass fishing in one of those things man

  • fishing from a kayak does not look convenient at all ;)

  • they grow way bigger then 10ft buddy

  • Im With you on that one! They actually caught one that was 18 feet!

  • They grow to about 10ft and are the fastest shark in the sea they swim at speeds over 60mph

  • @moneymack69 wrong they grow up to 15 to 20ft and swim 35 mph

  • 15 to 20? The biggest ones would have been 12 feet. Great Whites grow 15 to 20 ft

  • @ag5311 maybe13 or 14 but yea thats about right

  • makos are not tiny

  • wats a mako shark? its tiny ok. but how bad are they?

  • Hey Johnny Ceviche, would you be intrested in going on a fishing trip with me in San Diego, I could use a few tips on how to catch Big Game fish in the area.

  • i never want to fall off a boat...those little demons are scary.

  • you do not know how a fish should bite suits hahaha

  • you're crazy man!

  • What a perfect little specimen.

    5stars

  • nice

  • lolz at the EEEE HEE!

  • It's a good development that ever more sharks get released after they got caught.

But unfortunately they still get harmed during that process.

But still thanks for releasing it because there are so few of them remaining.

  • HA so few sharks. i go spearfishing and almost every dive either i or my brother see a shark. today he saw a 6ft mako

  • you do see them so often while spear fishing because this activity attracts sharks in a radius of 10km

If you are not shooting fishes you won't get to see sharks so often.

  • its not like they are swimming to me to see whats going on. i usually come up behind them

  • dudes nuts

  • Boss, I think if a great white did latch onto that mac, either the line would snap, or he'd loose his pole instantly. He's in nearly no danger.

  • thats a solid woo hoo

  • Where did this happened...california? new zealand?

  • silvertatt,

    San Diego Ca.

    Tl,

    JC

  • Nice distressed fish you had there... gulp!

  • Looks like off the cove. Fun stuff, good times

  • Be careful bruh, if you catch a baby mako there are bound to be some adult mako around. Fastest sharks around they could tip that kayak and be a mile away in a matter of seconds. Still an amazing catch.

  • I bet the sark was like " put your hands off me bitch, come in the water and see who wins in a fight"!

  • dude you are crazy as fuck but that was a damn nice catch

  • Awesome video buddy l would love to do that myself.great to see you release him l cant wait to get out on the ocean again, check out my videos and let me know what you think, my method of catching fish is quite different ....cheers mate

  • VERY NICE! If you would of fought it out a little more - it is uaually alot easier landing and releasing.

  • Good job for releasing that cute looking baby shark.

  • JohnnynCeviche:

cool video, beautiful fish. Nice flying ending to the vid.

I wanna go fishing with you in LJ someday!!

    SCAllen

  • very cool! congrats!

  • Thats respect for the ocean! a lot of shark catchers can learn a lot from this guy. He doesnt kill this little fella but instead throwing him back into the ocean. Thats the way to threat a living creature. (of course the small fish in the beginning also is a living creature)

  • Awesome footage.

Not sure how you mounted the camera, but it worked great.

  • now this is what i call a real fisher!

throw it bak just like u did is great!

i mean how would u like it if i would stab u in the head with a knife for dinner?

nice done man ur a good fisher =)

  • so wtf happends when you catch a 500 or 600 lb mako and not a little one on a kayak????

  • sfpd109, The answer to your question my friend is caught on video titled eXtreme Kayak Sleigh Ride. Check it out!

    :-B

  • was that foul hooked it seemed strange that it came in backwards
