The only difference between two of those pictures in the "different" segments was that one was wearing a bridle. You took a few images of people riding that were "bad", as in, the horse was tossing it's head and looked scared.
Why would you creat this honestly I think the beginning is ridiculous I don't think that anyone wants to see what horses look like after they are abuse I'm sure most of us all know what it looks like and knows what happens. And if u knew what dressage was and is its not like they are in pain and we don't yank on our horses mouth i know that because I have been to allot of different barns in my life and I am telling you that is not what collecting is once you get it its the most amazing bond.

@WesterntheRider i respect riders that don't harm their horses (intentionally or not) wanted to become a barrel racer. studied veterinary medecine specializing in horses. i refuse to contribute to our wonderful horse's torment. once you learn the truth it's differrent.
I hate the way dressage riders yank their horses heads to be bent. If a horse doesn't do that for 1 minute in nature why make them do it for a a 10 minute competition?
@StreetCorner100 Excuse me if you knew what real dressage was you wouldn't be saying that right now u need to realize that that aren't like that i know that because I ride dressage and i sure as hell do not want to yank on my horse because that is cruel and avery dressage trainer I have been with has never done that you need to get your story straight because that its just crap your talking...I am sure u wouldn't want people talking crap about what ever discipline you do.
@StreetCorner100 True, horses wouldn't do that sort of thing in nature, but if we didn't use horses for these kind of things, we probably wouldn't have many left. Taking England as an example, many animals that we couldn't find a use for have simply died out in the wild (bears, wolves etc). There are a few semi-wild horses over here, but not many at all.
@01rdizzle Actually, sorry, I may have got the wrong end of the stick here. If you were saying that you don't like the style of riding where force is used to make the horse do what the rider wants it to, then I completely agree with you.
@StreetCorner100 They condition them to do that. No one ever said it was natural. But a horse won't do it if they don't trust. Some people have heavy hands. But I know someone who trains for dressage kindly and doesn't 'yank'
this is actually what happens when the horse don't obey it goes to slaughter because it is a "problemhorse" but in fact it is us humans that destroys the horses make them fear us don't you get it? the horse want's to run away from danger and we humans we hunt them when we want them to do something as they fear they can't do it and try to tell us, but nope the horse goes to slaughter. when humans get angr and punish the horse it fears for it life´in horses nature there is NO punishment
I beleive in natural horsemanship. Why does so many people disagree? WHy is it so hard to see that a horse is one of the most loyal, friendly and protecting creatures if given a chance to extend that friendship? If treated with courtesy and kindness. Who would want to be treated any other way?
thoroughbreds love what they do when they run, so in horceracing, yes some do die,but they die doing what they love, but i agree the whips shouldnt be used
i could not wacth the rest you are a liar and your selfish i cant belive you,you are total liar if i knew you i whould tell your parents and what if you were a horse whould you like i dont like u
@123maxiewe i knoowww, this video i made 4 years ago. i didn't know some thing about it i just made an video.. i think different about it now, but i cant delete this one, because i own a new channel now and can't log in on this anymore:) but if you hate me, i should tell you i don't care at all:)
Its people like you that shouldnt own a horse, if you have one you probably baby the crap out of it. Which inthe long run is not good for the horse or yourself.
You are VERY confused about what natural horsmanship is... The definition of natural horsemanship is the process of understanding and speaking the horse's language. Using that skill to bond with the equine based on using his herd mentality and instincts. NO WHERE in that definition does it say that you cant use a saddle or bit. @ 4:52 its called RIDING, WORKING YOUR HORSE, DRESSAGE. the horse is setting its head, it means its collected which is a GOOD thing. @ 4:57 They are just messin around.
Oookay... This is totally NOT how the horse world works if it uses a bit and saddle. A: Just cuz we use a but, does NOT mean we beat them. B: A lot of those pictures are exaggerated, and they were taken of people who do not know how to use a bit and saddle PROPERLY. My horse LOVES riding, bit, saddle and all. You should see him jump! If I tried natural horsemanship on him, I would be on the ground, and he surely would be confused. He is enjoying life, even without natural horsemanship.
fact riding bareback is actually bad for your horse, if you do it too long or too much it hurts them fyi, your butt bone inst meant to rub all over their spine! .. saddles distribute the weight evenly over their back, love your horse and use a saddle, also love your horse and let them work a lil, how would you like to sit around all your life eating carrots and bowing?
you're right , people get so obssed with money they forget about how the horse feels and they just think about themselves. I've trained my horse to go bridleless and he's very happy about it.
some horses are abused.. but most of the horses who are taken care of at ranches are well taken care of and loved by the people around them. (at least all the farms i've ridden at) its wrong to ride horses at a rodeo. i think it must be very hard on the horse to be in a race. But its different for every horse. they're unique and individual, just like humans.
thumbs up if you love horses and would fight to save them <3
i disagree about some of these comment about teaching your horse to bow and ect is cruel!
one day i was in the sand school with my horse and i was walking round and he started to follow me, so i started to run and he started to copy and when i stopped he did a slide stop and he has never done any of this in his life and he can bow and i never even taught him and he loves doing all these things&now i have started to teach him tricks&he is a stubborn pony so if he disliked it he wouldn't do it
Natural Horsemanship... What do you think is natural about horses living in stables, carrying people, be fed 3 times a day in stead of eating grass all day long? There is nothing natural about a domesticated horse. Certainly when you learn it to bow for a cookie even if you do that without a halter.
I agree that some people are very cruel to there animals. Dont starve your animal just get rid of it. But what annoys me is the uneducated people that think riding horses is cruel! We race standardbreds. Do you think thats cruel? Its what they were bred for. There bodies are made to handle what we do with them. You think people are cruel now go back 500 yrs and see how poorly they were treated then!
@BubbleGumGirl1819 i'm educated & experienced on the subject. humans breed horses -an example of domination- this is not really arguable. horses run- it is their desire, i don't refute this. i must ask you, when a horse is born, is it born to race? i am not so sure it is made to handle what you "do with" them b/c what you "do with" them is cruel - you use force by inflicting pain. the horse wouldn't perform if you didn't. instead of looking back 500 years, look forward 500.
@marsmick im not saying every person who has racehorses or tbs or competiting horses are nice to them. Some people are really mean to them. There are two type of people that have standardbreds though, the ones that care about there horses and the ones that just care about the money. There are rules though that go with horseracing. Such as indiana you are not allowed to hit the horses during the race. You can't hold one incident against all horse trainers. Not all are mean.
i think natural horsemanship is the best. A horse that i know is just so scared of al things even so afraid she kick and bite people just so hard people can be!
Natural Horsemanship isn't riding without a saddle, or a bit. It's how you and your horse connect. The bit may be uncomfortable, but its how you and your horse work together.
if I had a horse I would spoil him rotten, all those people miss treating them dont think of how much we would love to have one and how hurting them will wase a life :(, I know a boy who used to go to school with me, he is desprate for a horse and spent all night at him local stable looking after one of the ill horses, he would make a great owner but cant afford it
i don't use a harsh bit or train my horses to freedom dressage, but i don't abuse my horses. Just because you use a lunge whip, or a bridle doesn't mean your mean to your horse. I have the most even tempered horse, and i trained him with a stick and a rope. I do ride with a hack, but is that cruel too.
at the begining its so sad, how could anyone do that... they must have a mental disease or something becasue who could;nt read they hurt the scared terrifed look in those horses eyes
well, not everyone who doesn't use natural horsemanship is abusive. Your saying that people who ride bareback, with no bit, or just a halter, or nothing at all are using natural horsemanship. Wrong. Natural horsemanship still applys when your using a saddle and bridle. For example; I'm a rider, I do western pleasure, and just started jumping. I don't use the reins a lot and their usually loose, so I've never had a problem with my horse gagging/gaping it's mouth because of the bit. Still natural.
@HorseKrazy23 a horse is not born with a bit in his/her mouth. you place it there for training. your methods imply pain upon resistance to training which is not natural, and considered abusive.
the funny thing on this video and on the others is that people want that the horse puts his feet up or rear for them.... thats not natural!!! and do you want a natrual horse let him run and hope he's scared for you! because real horses are scared for you! think twice before you do something!!
@razorsharpbubble it just implies that there's a less harmful way to engaging in the human-horse relationship. on the other hand, it is pretty cruel and abusive to break a horse.
@horsetrainer530 Cruel 1. Disposed to inflict pain or suffering. 2. Causing suffering; painful. tell me that breaking a horse (even the word "breaking") is not cruel.
@marsmick "breaking" a horse is not cruel if you do it right. When we break our standardbreds we spend at least a month doing it right and we only go as fast as the horse can handle it.
@marsmick We need to break them so they can do what they were bred to do, race. I think break is i cold term. Bc were not hurting them. We've actually had quite a few horses who LOVED to race. Our one retired broodmare aboustly loved it she didnt want to do anything else. She knew her job and loved it.
@marsmick I train horses naturally, and i can say that horses are trained in a very natural way, by using methods that reflects how a horse learns. your opinion is like saying that a cutting horse is taught something that is not natural to it, or that race horses don't naturally race each other but the opposite is true horses that have not had ANY formal training cut cows, and colts race each other in a feild, that have not even known a halter, face it, horses are made for this stuff
@horsetrainer530 how does a horse learn? you are imposing your anthropocentrisms upon an animal - your own human thought patterns, your human rewards and human discipline methods. a cutting horse is being taught *when* to cut when you want him/her to. race horses don't race in the field like you want them to race on the track. it's your interventions that are the heart of the issue. it starts with the first lead line, the first bit, and the first crop, whip,or ankle to the ribs.
@marsmick I dont use a crop, whip, bit, or a kick in the ribs. Me and my horse are so well connected, its like I don't have to do anything for him to respond. By the way, a hack is short for hackamore, meaning i use a cowboy hack, which is just a leather band across his nose, and is like riding with a loose halter. All I have to do to get him to run is cluck to him, and he goes. Also, if you were to see a cutting horse cutting, you would note that the reins are loose.
@marsmick the reason i don't use a bit is because my horse doesn't like it at all, and i don't like to hurt my horses mouth. I love my horse, and he loves me. I only tried a broken snaffle bit ONCE EVER
@horsetrainer530 but what did you do with a stick and rope that you mentioned a few posts ago? i will assume your horse is smart, and that it understood at one point in your training that those were tools of establishing who was in charge? tools of domination. he/she feared being in - even the smallest amount of - pain, so he/she listened to you, the one with the tool. it's not just the way you use the tool, it's that you have it at all - it's a symbol, you see?
@marsmick no not fear, respect. Think about wild horses, they kick and bite the HECK out of each other to estabish dominance, and you think a tap on the butt is bad, you've seen NOTHING. Besides, all i need now is the coiled end of the rope in one hand, and to hold the rope closer to the horse in the other, and have you noticed how much padding there is on a horses butt.
@razorsharpbubble Well, if your sticking a bit in their mouth and using a whip on them or slapping them if they get stubborn, then what the heck is not abusive about it?
I had to skip to the good part after the first 30 seconds or so.. I couldn't watch it. How terrible! There should be a **HEARTBREAK** alert tag on youtube.
That was really beautiful! The beggining made me cry! I love horses! I live on a 7000 acre ranch in Montana and we have many horses! I beleive horses should put in what they wanna do ( Saddle or no saddle) i always ride bareback! :)
you, your boody great im so happy that at least some onne sees this THEY dont care THEY dont look at the beautyful nature of horses the songs from spirit sung by bryin adams well done my freind, well done!
this made me cry :(( i love horses and i have grown up with them they are the kindest and most forgiving animals and there is no need to treat them like a piece of meat to get trophies or money or anything for your own personal gain... i swear to god i hope those pple that mistreat these beautiful animals go to hell!!!!!!!!!
the first bit is fucking harsh as it made me want to cry and i did they wouldn't like it if we done that to them so why do it to animals like these ones there's no need but when people treat there horse nicely the better the horse gets just look after your pets and respect them no need to tern your back onto then for no reason xx
@georgia123377 yeah your right but what goes around comes around right? Maybe reincarnation is true and they will come back an animal that gets treated 10 times worse than a horse then they will know what it feels like.
Oh and I believe in god and Jesus 100% but I am just saying what if they were both true it could be a punishment from god....lol
I think if you treat your horse right and go a huge bond with your horse and you take go care of your horse i dosent matter if you use a bit or crop.but do not hurt with them.i jump and show my horse but i think that you should oonly ride if you realy love your horse if you dont you shuldent have one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a bit angrey. Just because some people don't know how to ride their horse the right way with a bridel that doesn't mean that everyone are mean. Of course I can see that it's more natural for a horse not to have anything on when we want's to ride it, but you can also ride your horse with respect even if you but a saddel and a bridle on. Just saying that't you are putting this up in a wrong way so some people may be a bit angrey, because your video is saying that they do everything wrong :)
Umm... we own bucking stock and we take excellent care of our horses! they get regular vet checks and top notch feed, i think its kinda bullshit to say that broncs are 'mistreated' their treated like kings! would you rather them be slaughtered? maybe some are mistreated but that doesn't go for all mustangs, some people are so misinformed, it ridiculous!
i have horses but i love them todeath and would never do anything to cause them pain or discomfort. i love my babys. it hurts me to see this. makes me want to cry
Going way back on an earlier comment. From Wikipedia: Yet between 10,000 and 7,600 years ago, the horse became extinct in North America and rare elsewhere. The reasons for this extinction are not fully known, but one theory notes that extinction in North America paralleled human arrival.[
Horses are amazing beautiful animals, they have carried men on there backs for generations. I dont understand how people could be so cruel. These people disgust me.
Horses never do anything to deserve what they get and I think it is really really wrong I would do anything to put a stop to this. I wish people could see how beautiful they are!
I hope this video makes a difference in the world!! Horses everywhere deserve a good life and as many chances as they need. Always love your horse to death! I've never touched mine with anything more than ball spurs. No whip no nothing, and I thought I was the only one that saw horses as beautiful creatures who have feelings, but you do too, and I am glad!!
I hate horse racing, its an actual fact however that horses will go faster without whips in Horse Racing! The RSPCA in Australia and in many other countries are trying to get that across. Its been proven!
horse riding should be a gift ..... a sport and fun ...it should also be fun for the horse or pony , all horse slaghter's should be fired and sent to jail!! horse's should have a free life with there owner , not pushed to hard or abused they should be riden and loved 4 <3 like if you want this to stop!
@taetae223 they dont beat the horses with whips... they r padded whips and they are only allowed so many hits of the horse with the whip.... so the horses hardly feel it its more for encouragement not beating them into submission
Hi guys.. Most of the ppl around da world say they love their horse or pets & BY GOD they do love them,by grooming&feeding them da best they can afford,ETC...&EXPECT da animal to OBEY their COMMANDS in return of thr love...i guess they dont know what love is...they r being selfish& r just doin a favour to da animal.."LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL"Which they have for their masters no matter how bad u treat them..(THEY FORGIVE US)..& HORSES R DA MOST FORGIVING CREATURES...PLZ BE GENTLE WIT THEM..GOD BLESS
arena to practice ride then putting a saddle(or not) back on and riding back home. The horse is not misused and isn't fearful of the rider. As a child I rode on my Uncle's horse he used for Bronco training n I rode her(@ 3yr)with no bridle or saddle along with 2 other cousins my age all over the family ranch and we were perfectly safe with her.She wouldn't go above a trot with children on her back saddle and bridle or not.Horses respond to their owners the same way a dog does. Reap what is sown.
ok,I'm sure someone has stated this and I'm not about to read alll the posts made so far but PimpMyHorses is right. Broncos are only used and only allowed to be used for 8 seconds every rodeo. Once ridden or turned out they aren't used again and go back to their corrals until taken home. MOST owners wont allow the use of spurs on them because they don't want a valuable animal ruined. Also a lot of bronco riders use their regular horses for training.. riding them (with or without a bridle) to an
some people abuse horses others don't many are mean and i don't like that in any way it's abusive and upseting it should not be done in any way others on the other hand though are kind love horses and only that
@heartbreaker21212 no, I happen to ride an old famous showhorse who I am training to become a good lesson horse. His ears are forward and he loves being ridden. Some people ride to dominate an animal while other's seek a partnership. Please do not assume that dressage is terrible because 1, a snapple bit is completely comfortable in a horse's mouth, 2 saddles are necessary, though I know many bareback riders, 3. so many horses LOVE to be ridden :)
But this nor the comment covered by CowgirlGoneJumper covers the point of natural horsemanship. Anybody, through almost any method of training, can train a horse to be ridden bareback, to sit on his back, to bow or to lift his leg, it's not just natural horsemanship that can do that and it's not the treatment of the horse, either (at least, not exactly). Natural horsemanship is a method of training horse, not a result or outcome. It's the method of communicating in his own language.
HORSES DESERVE THE BEST WE HAVE TO OFFER THEM THEY ARE SUCH A GIFT TO US... WE LOVE THEM THEY LOVE US RIGHT BACK. THEY HAVE PERSONALITIES JUST LIKE US THEY NEED TO BE ABLE TO BE THEMSELVES & TREATED WITH RESPECT SO AMAZING WHAT THEY CAN DO ..SO SMART & BEAUTIFUL!!! I WISH EVERYONE IN THE WORLD COULD SEE THEM THE WAY I DO ESPECIALLY THE PEOPLE THAT ABUSE THEM..
What dude; you think we all took a BR break when the latin american showed how much he loved his job?Why wud you think anyone misssed that..My 2nd insite, we all have the potential but lack .....fill in the blank, to BE natural horsemanship. Maybe we want what we want, we want it now and if we cant have it well hurt the one refusing us. Ahhh imediate gratification. Whats crazy is NH & NHE can be instantaneous,
i dont feel that using a saddle or a bit is cruel. i have always used a bit and a saddle. the only time i dont use a bit is when im just walking him and ill just use a halter and ride him bareback. with my horse all i have to do is is say whoa and he will slow down i just use the bit more for security for when im running him or on a trail... he can be stubborn, but i dont abuse it, i dont yank on the rains i just use a little pressure to slow him down.
@ponymadalex1998 ikr! like seriously the horses are like "dear god i love you and hope my death isnt as painful as they say" and the douche is like all stab and then gods all like ohoohoh your going to hell!! and im all yeahhh!!! lol i love horses:D do you know who snikers and willy are?
ok, so yes i ride with a saddler and bridle, but i dont use harsh bits (my standy has an eggbutt snaffle and my tb has a frenchlink snaffle) but i also ride them bareback using a halter and leadrope, heck i used to gallop on ruby (my standy) bareback in a halter and leadrope without a helmet, that's how much i trust her and how much of a bond we have! yes there are some cruel people out there, but not everyone that rides hurts there horses
( one of the pictures you put up has a dressage horse demonstrating rolkr it has been a outlawed in the horse world) many of the older bits have been removed. i do believe that some of the methods used are cruel but i have found that to the wrong eyes anything can look cruel. and the broncos are treated very kindly. In fact most of the only work eight seconds an entire rodeo. and are well groomed, fat, and some of the breeder will not allow spurs to be used on their horse. think about it. :)
i'm not trying to be mean or awful. but what you need to understand is some horses need bits. there is often no alternative. I have trained many horses. I have ridden all my life. While bits can be cruel in the wrong hands (see next post)
@PimpMyHorses the only bit needed is a bit of savvy. exspensive equipment is a good excuse for bad hands and a lack of knowledge. even if you have been doing something all your life maybe it's what you learn after you know it all that counts!
i dont have my own horse, there-fore i cant learn to ride without tack. i once cantered bareback and it was one of the best things that ever happened to me... im dieing to feel that again...
I have been Die-ing for a horse but my mom always says no , but i try to tell her we could soooo take better care of one then half of the people that have one.
I personally think bits, aren't necessarily bad, but some people abuse the bit. I don't use bits, I use bit-less bridles (less tug on the horses mouth) Saddles are not abuse. but yet again some people abuse saddles and bits. I would love to rid bridle/saddle less some day, but I'm only a beginner. I love horses to death, seeing horses like this kills me :/ I wish I could save them all, But I know I can't D;
i hate seing horses like that itr just makes me want to take them all home sort them all out give them to a nice owner then punche the peaple that did it and do what they did to the horses
2:04 is why I don't watch Horse Racing & steeplechasing. I love barrel racing though, people say it's cruel, but not if you don't kick and beat the mess out of your horses, or force them to run, it is perfectly humane and not cruel. If a horse didn't want to barrel race, it wouldn't. Race horses are forced to. They are whipped and have their reins jerked all over the place, & if they don't they will be hit, sold to slaughter. I don't know if they do that to barrel horses, but I HIGHLY doubt it.
i <3 horses they are my life and pride ! <3

ILoveDrimi 3 weeks ago
MrGummybearluver 3 weeks ago
fact riding bareback is actually bad for your horse, if you do it too long or too much it hurts them fyi, your butt bone inst meant to rub all over their spine! .. saddles distribute the weight evenly over their back, love your horse and use a saddle, also love your horse and let them work a lil, how would you like to sit around all your life eating carrots and bowing?

DerryGirl1983 4 weeks ago 7
you're right , people get so obssed with money they forget about how the horse feels and they just think about themselves. I've trained my horse to go bridleless and he's very happy about it.
MsCavalia 1 month ago
some horses are abused.. but most of the horses who are taken care of at ranches are well taken care of and loved by the people around them. (at least all the farms i've ridden at) its wrong to ride horses at a rodeo. i think it must be very hard on the horse to be in a race. But its different for every horse. they're unique and individual, just like humans.
thumbs up if you love horses and would fight to save them <3

i disagree about some of these comment about teaching your horse to bow and ect is cruel!
one day i was in the sand school with my horse and i was walking round and he started to follow me, so i started to run and he started to copy and when i stopped he did a slide stop and he has never done any of this in his life and he can bow and i never even taught him and he loves doing all these things&now i have started to teach him tricks&he is a stubborn pony so if he disliked it he wouldn't do it
spuddersXx 1 month ago
Natural Horsemanship... What do you think is natural about horses living in stables, carrying people, be fed 3 times a day in stead of eating grass all day long? There is nothing natural about a domesticated horse. Certainly when you learn it to bow for a cookie even if you do that without a halter.
Karentje89 1 month ago
I agree that some people are very cruel to there animals. Dont starve your animal just get rid of it. But what annoys me is the uneducated people that think riding horses is cruel! We race standardbreds. Do you think thats cruel? Its what they were bred for. There bodies are made to handle what we do with them. You think people are cruel now go back 500 yrs and see how poorly they were treated then!
BubbleGumGirl1819 1 month ago
@BubbleGumGirl1819 i'm educated & experienced on the subject. humans breed horses -an example of domination- this is not really arguable. horses run- it is their desire, i don't refute this. i must ask you, when a horse is born, is it born to race? i am not so sure it is made to handle what you "do with" them b/c what you "do with" them is cruel - you use force by inflicting pain. the horse wouldn't perform if you didn't. instead of looking back 500 years, look forward 500.
marsmick 1 month ago
@marsmick im not saying every person who has racehorses or tbs or competiting horses are nice to them. Some people are really mean to them. There are two type of people that have standardbreds though, the ones that care about there horses and the ones that just care about the money. There are rules though that go with horseracing. Such as indiana you are not allowed to hit the horses during the race. You can't hold one incident against all horse trainers. Not all are mean.

Natural Horsemanship isn't riding without a saddle, or a bit. It's how you and your horse connect. The bit may be uncomfortable, but its how you and your horse work together.

i don't use a harsh bit or train my horses to freedom dressage, but i don't abuse my horses. Just because you use a lunge whip, or a bridle doesn't mean your mean to your horse. I have the most even tempered horse, and i trained him with a stick and a rope. I do ride with a hack, but is that cruel too.
horsetrainer530 1 month ago
@horsetrainer530 training with stick and a rope is implying pain upon resistance to training. your methods are still considered abusive.
marsmick 1 month ago
at the begining its so sad, how could anyone do that... they must have a mental disease or something becasue who could;nt read they hurt the scared terrifed look in those horses eyes
MegaShoppoholic 1 month ago
well, not everyone who doesn't use natural horsemanship is abusive.
HorseKrazy23 1 month ago
@HorseKrazy23 a horse is not born with a bit in his/her mouth. you place it there for training. your methods imply pain upon resistance to training which is not natural, and considered abusive.

horsetrainer530 1 month ago
@horsetrainer530 Cruel 1. Disposed to inflict pain or suffering. 2. Causing suffering; painful. tell me that breaking a horse (even the word "breaking") is not cruel.
marsmick 1 month ago
@marsmick "breaking" a horse is not cruel if you do it right. When we break our standardbreds we spend at least a month doing it right and we only go as fast as the horse can handle it.
BubbleGumGirl1819 1 month ago
@BubbleGumGirl1819 why do you need to break them?
marsmick 1 month ago
@marsmick We need to break them so they can do what they were bred to do, race. I think break is i cold term. Bc were not hurting them. We've actually had quite a few horses who LOVED to race. Our one retired broodmare aboustly loved it she didnt want to do anything else. She knew her job and loved it.
BubbleGumGirl1819 1 month ago
@marsmick I train horses naturally, and i can say that horses are trained in a very natural way, by using methods that reflects how a horse learns. your opinion is like saying that a cutting horse is taught something that is not natural to it, or that race horses don't naturally race each other but the opposite is true horses that have not had ANY formal training cut cows, and colts race each other in a feild, that have not even known a halter, face it, horses are made for this stuff
horsetrainer530 1 month ago
@horsetrainer530 how does a horse learn? you are imposing your anthropocentrisms upon an animal - your own human thought patterns, your human rewards and human discipline methods. a cutting horse is being taught *when* to cut when you want him/her to. race horses don't race in the field like you want them to race on the track. it's your interventions that are the heart of the issue. it starts with the first lead line, the first bit, and the first crop, whip,or ankle to the ribs.
marsmick 1 month ago
@marsmick I dont use a crop, whip, bit, or a kick in the ribs. Me and my horse are so well connected, its like I don't have to do anything for him to respond. By the way, a hack is short for hackamore, meaning i use a cowboy hack, which is just a leather band across his nose, and is like riding with a loose halter. All I have to do to get him to run is cluck to him, and he goes. Also, if you were to see a cutting horse cutting, you would note that the reins are loose.
horsetrainer530 1 month ago
@marsmick the reason i don't use a bit is because my horse doesn't like it at all, and i don't like to hurt my horses mouth. I love my horse, and he loves me. I only tried a broken snaffle bit ONCE EVER
horsetrainer530 1 month ago
@horsetrainer530 but what did you do with a stick and rope that you mentioned a few posts ago? i will assume your horse is smart, and that it understood at one point in your training that those were tools of establishing who was in charge? tools of domination. he/she feared being in - even the smallest amount of - pain, so he/she listened to you, the one with the tool. it's not just the way you use the tool, it's that you have it at all - it's a symbol, you see?
marsmick 1 month ago
@marsmick no not fear, respect. Think about wild horses, they kick and bite the HECK out of each other to estabish dominance, and you think a tap on the butt is bad, you've seen NOTHING. Besides, all i need now is the coiled end of the rope in one hand, and to hold the rope closer to the horse in the other, and have you noticed how much padding there is on a horses butt.
horsetrainer530 1 month ago
@marsmick Our ideas on cruel and abusive clearly differ greatly.
razorsharpbubble 1 month ago
@razorsharpbubble how do you define cruel?

IS Dressage cruel ?
heartbreaker21212 2 months ago
