@Temuldjin every number in the bowl was not under a seat, so no matter what he could enter on stage. and if it had 408 on the card all he had to do was write it before he stood up

since he didnt show us he had the number 408 he just need to make sure the number of the disks are not on the audience papers and to get up when they say what ever number they want

@ShaharShtern He DOES have the number 408. You can see it in his hand around 1.10 when he stands up. It's probably that he had an entire deck of those cards under his chair in numeric order. While everyone else was opening their envelopes, he was quickly searching his deck for the correct number - and his deck ALL had Malaysia on the back.

A thing that all of you haters havent noticed, is the extremely hard work to time the video, that it looks like a live view, thats pretty amazing i think.

and why the hell do penn always say his and tellers ideas loud, hes destroing magic. I mean, this isnt magical anymore for every one who saw it live, on tv or in the internet.

Anyways i think it is a great effect for a laymen audience!

i believe he had a blank card then wrote the nr on it, i guessed all of it, abit rubbish the fact he revealed himself, he had malaysia on the back, but he wrote the nr himself

The numbers in the bowl weren't sequential. There's not 1000 people in that audience, but all the numbers on the chips are three digits. 'Leroy' was going to stand up no matter what number was called, because no number in the audience matched a numbered chip.

If you'll notice, Leroy didn't have to hold up his envelope to prove he had number 408.

tl,dr: He didn't have 408 on his card, but nobody else did either.

I thought it was weird at first how the guy had his sunglasses on inside. But I don't get how Penn choose the number at random... the number the guy was holding was printed out... not hand written... you can see him hold it at 1:11 - he would have had no time to write this. Obviously Penn reads the numbers at the end and none match anyones cards. But I just don't understand the matching the card already printed when choose at random.

I actually had a completely different idea on how both the country reveal and price reveal were done until the final reveal,

I did think something was slightly strange about the man but just pushed it away

But does the secret mean he had all of those hundreds of numbers on his person ?
