  • it doesent have to be banned but every has to pick there stuff up and take it home !!!!!!

  • Not all fisherman are irresponsible with fishing line and hooks. I fish at the park frequently and I always clean up after myself. I think your "ban fishing" rhetoric is a tad on the extreme side. Quit being such a debbie downer!

  • If fishing gets banned I pray to GOD that you and your dog are both hit by a car...and the lake isnt just there so your dog can swim in it you selfish fuck.

  • @Feedback518 , Lovely. You make me so proud of my species.

  • Why is your dog off the leash swimming in the lake? Oh because you know your dog won't kill ducks? If unknowing bird lovers saw that, they would think you're disgusting.

  • @coolvid , dogs are permitted offleash in this area, and they are allowed to swim in the lake at this specific location. Our dogs do NOT disturb the ducks, geese, swans, and other wildlife.

  • okay listen the fish were stocked in the pond so people could fish there. The purpose of the pond is FISHING! It is not meant for your dog to swim or play in. Also saying fishing should be banned is completely ridiculous i have seen many people leave garbage behind while grilling such as food and coal. Coal kills trees so lets band grillers. Also people leave garbage behind so lets ban people too, also if it wasn't for all the garbage left behind in the Lake fishing lures wouldn't be left behind

  • @jjmcjesus , actually, they purpose of the lake was not for fishing, but for the beautification of the park and the nurturing of wildlife. While fishing is (unfortunately) permitted, most people don't do it responsibly or legally, using barbed, and in some cases double-barbed hooks (which rip out the fish's insides, giving them terminal injuries, in what is supposed to be a catch and release program), leaving their fishing wire all over the lake and surrounding area, and eating the fish..

  • @jjmcjesus, also, please don't try to justify fishing wrongs by citing picnicking wrongs. Didn't your mother ever teach you, two wrongs don't make a right? Picnickers have NO respect for the trees, other park goers, or the park in general, and the rangers have to start enforcing the rules, but that's a separate issue.

We are talking about fishing here.

  • you know that the hundreds of people everyday that go there to look at the wildlife liter so y dont we ban people to go in the park i go there a lot and i see it all and what about the fish if u love animals the water is very dirty y dont u say anything about that

  • and yeh i say what the fusk with people when im fishing an they come and feed the duck fucken people

  • @petroFDR , your sentence makes about as much grammatical sense as an infant's chatter.

  • good !!

  • first of all all the birds that you worry about now have been gassed so dont worry about them getting tangled in the fishing line second of all freshwater fishing is something people love doing and prospect provides that to prople who live in brooklyn which is very rare so just lay off the banning stuff

  • @cooljoe50, the extermination of geese, which was heinously cruel, served no purpose since they were resident (not migratory) geese, and stayed in the park all year round. In the month since this disgraceful deed was done, over 100 geese (official count by Anne-Katrin Titze, for DEC), have returned to the park. In addition, there are swans and ducks.

  • @cooljoe50 (continued): And, as a matter of fact, my collegues and I have documented in print and pictures swans and geese caught in fishing line and impaled by barbed - illegal in the park - fishing hooks, which Anne painstakingly removed. We have documented some of these on NY Bird blog, and it has been covered by several networks and newspapers. Everyone (hundreds per day)comes to marvel at the wildlife in the park. No one (0) comes to marvel at the fishermen.

  • I was just thinking about the safety of your dog and then you said something. I hope you can something done about the situation.

  • If you are in NYC, please call 311 and voice your opinion about fishing in Prospect Park.
