  • Brian. buy a short sleeved shirt. Its amazing how undistracted and how focused he his. There's a lesson in itself. What an incredible musician.

  • is that Dave Chappelle on drums ?

  • @helenlundeberg brian blade:)

  • his sleeves...

  • sick stuff

  • its that a vintage Sonor set?? sick!

  • Nice quote of Richard Davis at the end of the McBride's solo.

("Parisian Thoroughly", The Jaki Byard Experience)

  • thats how you play a bass

  • Blade looks like a Janitor with a hidden talent that is his drumming with that suit.

  • What a relief to see on Youtube the Art of drumming, Brian Blade's ideas....invention.....dynamics....skill.. instead of the usual macho technocrat pissing competition.

  • very nice ! です.

  • fantastico!!!

  • any other definition of walking*

  • yeah haaaaaaaa nice walkin!!

  • Brian el manco!!!

  • dio porco!!!!spacca

  • Brilliant! i love how they go into a country feel at around 1:45

  • Sorry... Brian's*

  • Ha. With Brains Sleeve over his right hand he looks like he just got his hand removed and had a brush permanently installed...

  • @Jazzman303 I think that'd be the best plan of action if you lost your hand! Captain Drumstick!

  • @Jazzman303 Sounds like it too...

  • one of the best brush solos ive seen for a long time ...go there brian

  • aewsomw!! but, notice how brian blades shirt is covering practically his whole hand, haha

  • the name of the toone is "straight ahead" by kenny dorham on his "una mas" album. beautiful phrasing here by both . . .

  • whats the bass players name?

    brian blade is sick

  • Thats the one and only Christian McBride, and thats a badass walking solo

  • that's all you guys can talk about after seeing this video? What kind of drums he's playing?-- what about all the bad shit he's throwing down? come on

  • Holy balls... Thats some bad shit! :D

  • Sonor circa 1970 . I have a set just like it in 18/14/12 sizes and different finish . Fab drums .

  • now thats musicianship....

does anyone else get the feeling that jazz musicians are just really nice people? for some reason that always strikes me...

  • nope, ive met so many asshole and obnoxious jazz musicians. ive also met alot of nice, helpful, and encouraging jazz musicians. I dont think the asshole/nice guy ratio differs much from one musical genre to another

  • uh.............wynton marsalis : )

  • Anyone know what make of drums they are? loe the solo as well.. cool.

  • Those are 1960's era Sonor drums

  • I looooove his bass drum

  • Both McBride and Blade has sick chops!

  • great video!

  • I'm positive that's his 14x5" Black Beauty...

  • no way, its a 6.5 at least, no matter what it is.

  • Yeah you're right, of course it is. I dunno what I was thinking when I posted that.

In which case I have no idea what snare that is. I always thought he used a 5" BB.

  • why?

  • Comment removed

  • That's a Leedy snare drum

  • Really? To me it looks like Gretsch's 6.5.

    I'm not sure though.

  • I'm leading "Leedy...." The rim is flanged, not die-cast, as it would have to be were it Gretsch.

    Not to get too nerdy.

Anyway, the drummER is nice. So fresh, not at all "choppy."
