Don't buy them. I have a betta and i read if their cheeks like pop out, that means their saying i love u and i know that because my fish does that to me
@KimmyS1028 lol thats posibly the dumbest thing ive every heard. the fins under a bettas gills "when his cheeks pop out" is a dominance thing. they flare up (the correct term) when they feel threatened or when expressing their dominance. it's a violent reaction not an "i love you" reaction.
@Jackyhkable dude, in my country (somewhere in Asia, a tropical country by the way) these kinds of bettas are sold for even less than 6 dollars and just by the side of the street almost everywhere.
@thekillerboys100 alot of the bettas you get in fish stores are in bad health/not the best looking creatures out there. There's bettas that sell for more than $20, and they're quite beautiful
the 20 dollar bettas are quality bettas w/ good genes bred to look nice and aggressive. ur 2 dollar bettas are mass produced w/ their brothers and sisters, not caring what genes they have, for stores like petco, petsmart, walmart, etc to sell quick. quit acting like you think you're so smart by buying a 2 dollar unhealthy, poorly bred betta that is most likely already 1 year old rather than a healthy, quality, 3.5 month old betta.
Is this a good one to train for fighting. Me and my bros like to raise and then fight our betas when we get drunk. Problem is my friends Ole'Blue keep beating the shit out of everyones beta. I wanna stick it to him this time and get a sadistic murderous beta.
@valijay they aint fighting because one is female.. and the other is a male DUH! so they wouldent if the males and females did.. how in the world are they gunna breed! lool they be all dead hahaa, p.s ever though of that? :L
Your Bettas cost 1-6 dollars because they are store bought, in other words... Crappy :P REAL bettas, shipped and bred in Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia cost much more because, they are HIGH QUALITY, and many times very rare. Copper Dragons are quite hard to find, and Super Reds are pretty rare aswell. Not just normal halfmoons
@SuperFoxspeed True, both are in separate containers. And in nature, they wouldn't fight to the death. One would simply realize it's losing and "run" away. But yes, in a tank they probably would. I know people that fight betta fish, they dont let them fight to the death. They DO however determine a winner. And they DO HEAL the fish after fights.
Betta tank? More like Betta PRISON... you do realize mr. Fish killer that Betta's require filters and heaters just like all other tropical fish. I wouldn't pay you 20 dollars for mistreated betta's. I got my half moon for 7. And I bought a "Betta tank" for 12 dollars too except mine was ten gallons!
@LizSagara Betta's DO NOT need Filters. They have a labyrinth organ, which allows them to breathe air. And they also DO NOT need heaters if the room's temperature is atleast 74-ish. Those are definately not mistreated. Granted, that doesn't mean you can neglect Betta fish. You must do daily to weekly water changes, like any other fish. I keep my betta fish in small containers aswell, they are happy and healthy.
@VolkswagOwned Just because they have a labyrinth organ does not mean they do not need clean water. And they live in tropical habitats where the water is in the 80's all year round. "Room temperature" will make for a lethargic ill betta. They need five gallons not "small containers". They are not happy. They're desperately trying to keep another betta out of their tiny living space.
@LizSagara I never said they didn't need clean water. My betta are very energetic and lively in room temperature. If it doesn't see another betta it wont have a need to keep one out. I LOVE betta fish, but sometimes (like now) room is an issue. If I had room to house every single one of my bettas in a 5 gallon, hell I would. The thing is you dont buy bettas that are used to 80 degree temperature. Ones you buy are usually domesticated and are used to room temperature.
@VolkswagOwned And I suppose you change the water every day several times a day to keep ammonia at zero. That's what a filter is for. To house nitrifying bacteria that have severely retarded growth or none at all in small containers. They live in giant rice paddies measuring meters of shallow well filtered, by rain and the plants, warm water. Tell me how your tiny container offers them that.
@LizSagara I change the water after a couple days. I also use Almond leaves to keep them healthy. It's not like I don't care about my fish. They are alive, energetic, and happy.
@VolkswagOwned I have mine in 5 gallons heated and filtered. He's 8 years old now. I would never buy Betta's from you. Not if that's how you treat them. If space is an issue get one or two and offer them 5 gallon tanks heaters and filters. This allows you to change 25% of the water every week and it keeps them alive longer. I would never cram mine in something tiny because I didn't' have room.
@VolkswagOwned Those "enthusiasts" are wrong. That's like keeping a toy Chihuahua in a shoe box because they can fit. You wouldn't do that to a dog why would you do that to another living creature?
20 dollars i can get 1 for like 4 dollars and you can get a full aqurim for a betta for 9 bucks at walmart with everything filter and every thing even though i hate walmart
So can I put like 3 males and like 20 females in a 5 ft tank? With lots of hiding places n plants??? I'm curious not been funny just would like to know because they r nice !!
I got my blue betta (almost dead) for 1 dollar at petco put him in the tank and gave him a few hours he is revived and better than ever. Then i bought a red one from pet land for 4 bucks AND PUT a divider in the tank and they live fine next to each other.
@sam412218 Petco doesn't sell True HalfMoons. True HalfMoons have a 180 Degree Spread. Their Half Moon's are nothing but Super Deltas with no traceable lineage and are already older and put thru all sorts of torture and neglect in their raising and live less long than petstore fish. The bettas at Petco are mass imports from Thailand fisheries.

I can't see a big difference between this jar and "a shop cup" and they keep them in the cups close to each other.. just to make them react to another male with makes him look beatifull and making an easier decision to buy it but still.. they do the same damage to this fishes as you are... they have 3 square meters of territory in hes natural enviroment.. so maybe you try read saomething and to get to know better a pat that u wish to buy..
@Bobnawyjezdzie Where do you expect him to keep them? A toilet bowel? That jar is a heck of a lot bigger than the cups they are sold in the stores and buying tanks for each individual male would get pretty damn expensive.
I see alot of people complaning about the price if your a serious hobbyist than you already paid over 29.99 for a single fish before ex. arrowana, discus, pirahna, salt etc.i thought i was trippin i paid 15.00 bucks for a halfmoon dragon/butterfly at the store .NOW these are nice hm's but mine seem way more intense flaring, angry. i think its a diff. between a $3 reg.betta and a $6-20 crown tail, delta, and HALF MOON
...... I admit, these Bettas don't have torn up fins like at Walmart, but my Betta that I got from Petsmart. What matters if the fish is inbred anyways? It's not like there's an annual "fish show" on Animal Planet or the Discovery channel....
@sam412218 It does matter if they are inbred.... the captive populations of alot of aquarium fish are becoming genetically weak from poor breeding practices and some of these fish are becoming extinct in the wild..
The hell is wrong with some people? These are REAL Fancy Bettas. Not the torn-up, inbred, mismatched Bettas you get at Wal-Mart. Google some pictures of these Betta morphs, and you'll see why they're such a high price. These are bred specifically for fin shape, color, pattern, etc.
just letting you all know that different betta cost different price, the one that goes for 2-6 are normal betta, the one that cost more are different type of betta, like his dragon betta in the back( it goes for $10)
LOL I love the people who going I got mine for $2, $5 dollars and so forth. I seriously doubt they were of the Dragon veriety or to the standard in the video.
i have a female who's rather docile, and i got her at walmart for around $4 too. they don't take very good care of the fish they have there, but if you take good care of the one you buy they live a good long life :)
@sam412218 These are mostly for show/breeder fish. The fish you get for $4.00 are simply pets. The fish shown in this video have valuable genetics that can be used to further advance the genetic line, hence their higher price.
@sam412218 yeah but these are quality...most of the fish that you get from a pet store are culled for one reason or another...not knocking them as all of my bettas are pet store rescues, but these bettas are the creme of the crop as far as fighting fish go. Thats why they tends to range from twenty to sixty dollars. They are like the purebreeds of the betta world.
@sam412218 it's not about pretty it's about clean genetics with traceable history for reputable breeders, not for random dudes who want pretty tanks. That's what breeders sell Blist stock for.
@andrew32247 Yeah, but not all Bettas are the same, these are bred for appearance and probably temperment, I keep Bettas and I like the $2 variety, more "natural" in appearance, some people prefer the "fancy" type which you see here. Next time you go to the fish store you'll notice they have Bettas referred to as "Deltas" which run for $8. Also notice that a lot of those Bettas at the store are on the verge of death (due to poor care). So $20 isn't unreasonable for a fish like this.

My halfmoon was $25 and the female was $20. $45 for the pair. $20 is a normal price for bettas. I've seen some sell for over $100.

$20.00..... really.... I got my Betta for $4.00 and he's really pretty. Honestly, my fish had a better fight with my mirror....
sam412218 2 years ago 28
i have a female who's rather docile, and i got her at walmart for around $4 too. they don't take very good care of the fish they have there, but if you take good care of the one you buy they live a good long life :)
VelvetNightmare13 2 years ago
@sam412218 These are mostly for show/breeder fish. The fish you get for $4.00 are simply pets. The fish shown in this video have valuable genetics that can be used to further advance the genetic line, hence their higher price.

@sam412218 that's true i got my betta for 4$ to and its really pretty

@sam412218 i got my red dragon delta/super delta cheaply too,i think its scalling is better than the one in this video
9912699125 1 year ago
@sam412218 yeah but these are quality...most of the fish that you get from a pet store are culled for one reason or another...not knocking them as all of my bettas are pet store rescues, but these bettas are the creme of the crop as far as fighting fish go. Thats why they tends to range from twenty to sixty dollars. They are like the purebreeds of the betta world.
FiestyCat86 1 year ago
@sam412218 can't u see these betta are the special kind
The one u got at the store r not the special and rare kind
xyang9374 1 year ago
@sam412218 it's not about pretty it's about clean genetics with traceable history for reputable breeders, not for random dudes who want pretty tanks. That's what breeders sell Blist stock for.
TheTwilight 1 year ago
@sam412218 i got mine for 5 99 he is a male and i got his tank for 5 99 as well

$20 for HM bettas isn't bad at all... I've seen bettas go for $60-80, but they have their lineage and genetics traced.

$20 for a betta? I can walk to the fish store that is 500 ft. from my house and buy a betta for like $2
andrew32247 2 years ago 20
ok go and get one
sunny68495 2 years ago 2
@andrew32247 it depends on the type of beta. this person has halfmoon betas witch are more expensive
DancingPuffers 1 year ago
@andrew32247 this are real betta..maybe ur talking about walmart....this nigga is a breeder not a cheap store
RafaMacRafa 1 year ago
@andrew32247 Yeah, but not all Bettas are the same, these are bred for appearance and probably temperment, I keep Bettas and I like the $2 variety, more "natural" in appearance, some people prefer the "fancy" type which you see here. Next time you go to the fish store you'll notice they have Bettas referred to as "Deltas" which run for $8. Also notice that a lot of those Bettas at the store are on the verge of death (due to poor care). So $20 isn't unreasonable for a fish like this.
archer49d 1 year ago
@andrew32247 but are u sure the quality is the same?
9912699125 1 year ago
@andrew32247 umm yea and those are shitty bettas the bettas in this video are probably breed and are much nicer and healthier!!
