Thank you so much! I was so frustrated with this factoring stuff, you made it so easy to understand. You are a great teacher and you helped me out more than you will ever know! Thanks so much!
right now i am doing homework on factoring quadratrics, the 2 binomials have to match right? what if they dont, does that mean you cant factor the problem, or is there something i have to do, pleae tell me becaue i am serously freaking out because i really dont understand factoring pplynomials
I factored by grouping like this: 4 - 2x + 9xy - 18y and got (9y - 2) (x - 2). When I FOILed the check my answer it came out correct as well. Why is this? Thanks!
i cant do factoring by grouping.my teacher keeps explaining dis to me , but i still didnt get it but when i see dis vid, i can do ma excercises:D thankssss
You're probably going to be my guide through this next month. I took Algebra I in 7th grade and Geometry in 8th grade... so now I'm going to have to take Algebra II this year, and I've forgotten a great deal :P
@maijib2009 No, don't change their signs. Whenever you reorder terms in an expression, keep the sign in front of a term with that term when you shift things around.
@crl027 Yes, because (2-9y) shows up twice in 2(2-9y) - x(2-9y), we can un-distribute it to get (2-9y)(2-x). It's the same process as un-distributing the "b" from something like 2b - xb, which gives b(2-x).
@crl027 look at the clip starting at minute 3:30. 2(2-9y) - x(2-9y) have (2-9y) as common factor, therefore you can factor out (2-9y) from both terms and using the factorization we end up with (2-9y)(2-x).
Thank you. This helped A LOT. I was out the day we learned this lesson in school, and my teacher could only help me the day of the test, so I had to find a way to learn it and fast. It's ten times easier than what I thought.
on problem 25, how did she change the sign to a positive (3w+r) and not change the -5t to a positive 5t??? Don't you have to make the entire thing opposite?
OMG I love you! I didn't understand this for the whole 2wks and I have a test tomorrow and I watched this so now I finally get it. Thank you, thank you!!
Everything I look at doesn't help me at all, :|. I hate math, I wish it would die in a fire. I havent taken a math class in over a year, and I'm just now put in algebra 2 with a bunch of fresh minded underclassmen... WTF -- I'm so pissed...
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. My teacher assigned this homework without lecturing about it...not sure if she noticed, but I sure did! :/
thank you! i kept getting confused about the part at the end (with the GFC and taking it out) and you were the only person on the internet that could explain it to me. thanks!
screw this dude.thanks for TRYING to help but these commenters are lying to make you feel better or something.or maybe im just add.but this DID NOT help. ha wow.
The whole problem would be easier if you group "9xy-18y+4-2x" so you can factor a "9y" in the first group followed by "(x-2)." Secondly, factor a "-2" from the 2nd group and get "-2(x-2)." Since "(x-2)" is common, factor that out and you are lefe with "(9y-2)(x-2)." Note: (9y-2)(x-2)=(2-9y)(2-x), check it by plugging in x=3 y=4, the answer will be 34.
"[you're] gunna wanna rearrange things so that both groupings are gunna have something to pull out...so lets switch the positions" Now I understand.

in 3:52 why (2-9y)(2 - x) is the answer? is't because (2 -9y) is the same?

12p^2-6qr+4pr-18pq is the question to factor
Ans A: (4p-6q)(3p+r) or
Ans B: (6p+2r)(2p-3q)
which of the above is the correct answer?
Can I have more than one answer?
