I've had a similar virus on my old XP, because XP lacks the Windows 7 confirmation system (where you have to click yes every time you install something etc etc.) programs find it easier to make there way onto your system without you noticing, they can install with just a simple accidental click while browsing..... They are basically a program acting as an antivirus which spam you with viruses till you buy the fake software. Once bought, it doesn't go, it's a scam, only way to stop is to.....

Be warned, scan your portable hard drive the second you connect it to a another pc as (depending on what type of virus) can have been copied along with your files.

Ok so if you want to download something from, lets say a pirate site, well it's best if you use a free life saving pro program called "sandboxie" I suggest you read the manual cause it is a bit long to explain all of it, but what it doe's is allows you to put your download into a closed in safe box so if there is a virus it will not effect any thing out side of the box, it's how programmers test there programs and how hackers test there viruses :D hope this helps you people become more elite XD

First of all most of these comments are super wrong, I highly suggest putting Free Ubuntu on you computer with you current OS, doing this allows you to clean windows through Linux, since the virus is no longer running your chances of deleting goes up 1000%, and to clean it using Ubuntu just get a free copy of AVG it does the same as all the rest for virus protection, I will also explain in the next comment on how to protect your self while downloading things....

6) Install as a separate partition

8) boot into what ever OS you like

Yeah, I had this a while back from installing a fake codec linked to a toolbar, I forget which now but it was a pain in the arse, would'nt let me open anything, here's what I worked for me:

Shut Down

Boot into Safe Mode (hold f8)

Go to uninstall offending program (codec+toolbar for me)

Run antivirus
