  • No es una respuesta, es la segunda parte.

  • Isn't the gavotta the same as the gavotta from Romeo and Julia?

  • The flutes are taking some those D's down an octave. :(

  • It sounds like an accordion at 1:51. Strange, I've never heard this detail in other performances:-) Gives it a Russian sound.

    Thanks for the upload!

  • It's my favorite symphony =) 4# movement is great

  • I played this. They sure are better than we were. :]]

    Very pretty and happy.

  • I much prefer this to the newer conductors....this seems faster than the Toscanini versions, but I adore Koussevitsky...

  • What do you mean by "the newer conductors?" What do they do that you don't like?

  • interesting how the beginning section is the same as one of his gavottes

  • This was one of the first 'neo-classical' compositions - Prokofiev took Haydn for his model. One feature that comes through in this performance is the fantastic sense of rhythm which one often finds with the Russians; Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky are other good examples. Small wonder they rule the world when it comes to ballet!

  • Never heard this before, but I'm very taken with the melodiousness and joyful energy of the writing (and performance). The video is well-made too - I like the inclusion of paintings especially! Anticipating more to come...
