@JessOnTheRun- well.. visit an Aldi, or any German grocery store, and you'll realize they are nothing alike, Americans need stimulation and a great deal of color and aesthetically pleasing things to shop for anything. German stores are typically low frills, item driven places that would remind you of spending time at the DMV.. True the Aldu brothers own the Trader Joe's company, but they simply make sure the chain continues to be a profitable venture and don't meddle with it..

@TeamBaugher You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about... have you ever been to a Kaisers, Edeka Rewe or Reichelt? Of course you havent as you have never visited nor lived in Germany. In fact, Edeka was the first grocery market in the world who first had the idea of setting up a "self serve" market in the late 1800's... basically what all grocery markets are based on today. Germany was also the first to ever have a chain of 'health food'/organic ("bio") stores as well...

@TeamBaugher furthermore... the standards of food, produce, drugs, etc. (a comparible agency to USFDA) is known world wide for its having the highest standards and quality... they dont put dangerous chemicals like MSG as "natural seasonings" like they do here in the USA. That is considered criminal... but because of the corruption of officials in the gov., its more important for companies to make a very cheap massed produced product for a higher price than worry about the health of americans

I live in germany but I often have been to trader joe's in california and there's a major difference! there are only very few grocery stores in germany that one can compare to trader joe's- for example "Alnatura" (which isn't owned by the Aldi-brothers)... it's as well as TJ all organic and a lot nicer than the typical "ALDI"-stores you find in germany...
