  • 2:56 scares the shit outta me

  • the music is great but she looks like a fucking ghost

  • Beautiful

  • bellisimo...

  • what u pretentious priviliged cunts dont realise is that people without great cultural backgrounds can really enjoy this music without you lot prattling on... she's a working class bird but she loves this guy even if he is a bastard...............! It relaxes me before i have to serve my punters

  • This soprano has a delicate, sweet voice...but I fear she doesn't have much reserve...tires easily...and isn't strong enough to sustain this enormous role.

  • Having seen Ms. Racette sing Cio-Cio San with the San Francisco Opera, I can say she is easily one of, if not THE, best singing actress in that repertoire. Yes, her voice is maturing and has harsh edges, but her commitment to the acting was stunning. An absolute triumph in that regard. I've never heard/seen Ms. Domas live, but her voice certainly sounds suited to Puccini.

  • Just saw the Met performance with Racett standing in for Gallardo-Domas, whata disaapointment. I agree Gallardo-Domas is by far the best Butterfly singing today. Her acting is superb and the voice is perfect Puccini.. The Met staging was pretentious, full of distractions, striving to make an artistic statement with nonsence Ie: using a puppet for the child with three men manipulating it behind the singers.

  • I'm sorry but I saw that performance too, and I think it was excellent, ok I admit that Patricia Racett is not the best Butterfly but she did an extraordinary job there. And Marcello Giordani was superb. And i think that the use of a puppet instead of a real child was amazing, i know it was a bit distracting to have three guys behind it, but you got to admit that the puppet was extremely real, something htat a child of that age will never do. And finally I think that the stage was beautiful.

  • Having men dressed in black running around with lanterns and confetti falling on the singers during the love duet was the height of foolishness. Puccini would throw rotten tomatoes if he had seen what they did to his opera.

  • Why was she replaced at the Met? I was waiting for months to see Gallardo-Domas, I don't think she was`sick, something else happened do you know?

  • She cancelled all of her March & April dates. She has an arthritic neck which may require surgery. She had limited mobility and great pain. I also waited long to see her. Hope she recovers well. Maybe next season???

  • I'd much rather go for this Cio-cio-san than any of the past greats--I won't name names--who were nonetheless just too matronly to portray a teenage geisha girl, no matter how great actresses they were. Gallardo-Domas truly cuts such a beautiful character--believable, for once!--and still manages to sound quite substantial.

  • Think I'm gonna have to see this woman at the MET so soon !!!

  • Where the hell do I get a copy of this!!! Some one please tell me!! LOL

  • She's the best Butterfly in the entire world, her characterization it's superb, nobody can sing in the real Puccini spirit like she does....Great!

  • She is fabulous!!!

  • I don't like her as Butterfly.

  • Terrible.

  • why?

  • thank you for singing this as puccini wrote it instead of screaming the soprano high c.why so many tenors find it necessary to sing the high c with the soprano at the expense of the beautiful harmony that puccini wrote puzzles me.

  • @njtenor57 coz it's end of the act and the audiences normally like to hear a big ending... just like the La boheme duet, Tenor sings the unwritten high C often... and the audience loves it!

  • They are terrific!! I love the way she moves.

  • what worse than her over presured singing is the staging...good grief.

  • why do you think she is horrible?

  • The Pinkerton is pretty awful be she is GREAT. A review of Leontyne Price's recording with Tucker said that her voice was so sensuous you wondered who was seducing who. The same is true for Gallardo-Domas in this clip. With her voice and acting she's ensnaring him, not the other way around.

  • I love her voice. It sounds a bit like the Voice that I love most, and unfortunately there's no possibility she could sing Butterfly now... although she would... and Cristina, - she is mesmerising, great artist. I love the voice...

  • Love this production!!!

Was working in ROH Covent Garden at the time she sang there and saw it live twice. This scene got me both times...

  • Bravo Marco!!!!

  • Of course, she's a great singer. What I find impressive is the way she moves. She's obviously gone to a lot of trouble to get the physicality right. That's a real artist.

  • Great!! Can you post up Io so che alle sue pene?

  • You post some great things; bring some culture up in this piece. Keep bringing the good works.

  • Is this production for sale on DVD or CD? I love it!!!
