  • What strikes me about this is how dead on his pitch and sense of melody is. This is a LIVE recording.

  • Where and how did you get this?

  • Wild drumming and guitar solo. This sh-t is awesome!

  • Sure, they all "survived" but not in live performance.

  • @ThomasWL1 Actually Sails survived on Elton Johns Empty Skies.

  • Empty Sky is such an underrated album. One of Elton's very best, but so few people have ever heard of it.

  • Agreed.

It has a number of gems.

  • There's nothing like his early stuff. He was so brilliant, devoted, hungry with an intense and rough sound. I love Empty Sky to pieces.

  • @strangefruit42 Best EJ Albums: Empty Sky and 11-17-70 (or 17-11-70, depending on which side of the pond you live).

  • @cdawg4391 Gotta throw in Tumbleweed and Madman with those. Great stuff!

  • Caleb!

  • Fantastic. I always wanted to hear this and the Lady Samantha BBC recordings. Both run a little fast though. (which is why EJ sounds funny). Shouldn't be hard to slow them down to proper speed.

  • This f..ckin ROCKS..Why didn;'t Elton ever play this song live after 1969? I love this song...it is the second best track on Empty Sky after Skyline Pigeon....and this version is really HOT..too bad there is no exiting VIDOE of him playing this...or MUCH off EMpty Sky is ther?

  • I don't believe Elton performed anything else on this particular BBC appearance.

  • wow... where di you get this from? Brilliant!
