  • thank you Pastor John. amazing words spoke to my heart.

  • The love of God:

Not: when God makes much of you

But when: at great cost to Himself, gives you the inclination to make much of Him and the joy of making much of Him

  • God mightn't always give me what I want, but He definitely knows what I need.

  • @EvolutionXPfeiffer I hope I wouldn't be wasting my time. I feel strongly that something has to be done about the very immoral and vindictive teachings of the religions, and these US preachers (hypocritical money-grubbing charlatans that they are) are spreading poison.

Look at Christopher Hitchens on YT, or ZOMGitsCriss. Hear some rational propositions, instead of this superstitious nonsense.

There are no gods, no afterlife, no magical beings or actions.

The world is wonderful, not magical.

  • Prayers are never answered; things happen or they don't! Those who believe that there must be a god to answer prayers for their own needs are the most hypocritical people it is possible to be.

Luckily, they are wrong - because there's no one listening; there are no magical beings - but just think of the utter selfishness they are showing: "Help me! My needs are greatest."

Anyway, it's as childish as believing that Santa visits my house and gives me exactly what I want.- it's the same thing!

  • Thanks bro John, thank You LORD.

  • So mind over matter piper? Have enough faith(optimism) and something will happen? Let me say it clear everyone PRAYER DOES NOT TRUST GOD'S WILL FUTURE PRESENT....IT TRIES TO CHANGE IT!!!! Ironically, it is goes against what god has already set in motion. Whatever god does is good. The bible tells us to except prosperity or calamity. Why try to change that if god does want people to die of cancer cause god ordained it there time to die? If someone is sick just say whatever happens it is good.

  • @dave1122drum Because the same Bible also says to pray for and lay hands on the sick for healing. Your presupposition that God is good therefore whatever he does will be good is correct, but God also commands prayer, and answers prayer. "Whatever you ask of the Father, in my name, He will give it to you" & "You have not because you ask not"

This kind of imbalance to the nature of God and scripture (fatalism) can become quite a problem, I've been there, God bless you and stay in the Word.

  • Found on internet~ The karma approach to confidently interacting with other people: how you do unto others controls what you think others will do unto you!

  • Nicely said Pastor

  • This video was exactly what I needed right now. Thank you very much.

  • The fact is you want it to be "like the rock" because it excuses you from dealing with Him. Thats sad really, because if you ever gave faith a chance you might discover there is a LOT more to gain than lose. I sit by the bedside of folks like you when leaving this life they usually seem tormented as if trying to get away from something. Its sad, I hope before your end you meet him and come to peace.

  • MY GOD speaks. I know more than luck. And after nearly 30 years of following him, I can not only see his fingerprints in the guidance he gave... I also see it in others leaving this life. Re: mental breakdowns, health, marriages, etc. I'd say you don't know your stats very well. Google church attendance and health. Further, I can show you validated street people who have better lives now because of God. I understand why you'd want it to be like the rock...that way you need not be accountable.

  • Yes, I agree, you are sorry. :) Seriously, though as a chaplain in hospice I sit by the bedside of many who pass from this life to the next. I can tell you there is a spiritual difference, even when it is no longer cognitive. All in all your argument is pretty baseless. If I went by your statement above, then I could say because there were so many counterfeit 100 bills, there were no real ones either! Just because nuts claim to have heard God doesn't mean I don't. The fact remains, I KNOW

  • Try this:

Go to the river and pick up a rock

you can bring that rock home and pray to it every day.

    It always answers your prayers!

Mind you, sometimes the answer will be YES,

    sometimes it will be NO,

and sometimes it will be WAIT,

but it will always answer your prayer.

    Just like God.

    Just exactly like God.

  • What that "rock" will not do is speak to me about life, give direction or guidance, tell me how to live my life, walk with me in the difficult days when the answer was "no." Encourage me when the answer is "wait" its coming... Nor will it show me how to handle the "yes" so I don't screw things up. Your statement reminds me of something Jesus said, "You do err, not knowing the scriptures... nor the power of God." Your reasoning above is very good, IF God did not have relationship with us...

  • but he does and those who've walked with him over time see his fingerprints all over the circumstances of their life. Maybe not in the moment, but as you look back, eventually you can see it. In the midst, his voice is often very clear - and he says a LOT more than Yes, No, or wait.

  • Did you realize that even Jesus' prayers were not answered? He prayed that the cup of crucifixion would pass from him, that God's will would be done on earth, that God's kingdom would come, and that his followers would be "one" even as he and his father were one. But he was crucified, Satan is still the god of this world, and his followers have split into nearly 40,000 (forty thousand!) official denominations, each of which thinks it has the truth and that all others are in error. Wow.
  • "What that "rock" will not do is speak to me about life, give direction or guidance, tell me how to live my life, walk with me in the difficult days when the answer was "no.""

    Of course not.

As I said, exactly like God.

    Just exactly like God.

  • Not "like" God at all. God speaks to me regularly about life, gives me direction, giuidance. Tells me how to live my life, walks with me in difficult days, celebrates with me in the yeses, and helps me when he says no. Not at all like a dead rock. You know what the funny thing is? The Bible compares the living God who DOES interact with us to a dead rock in several places and laughs at those who put their hope in a dead rock idol. He very MUCH does say more than yes or no. A lot more.

  • "God speaks to me regularly" Yes, I'm sorry. I am a retired paramedic and I met quite a few folks who received messages from God, from the Starship Enterprise, from Lucifer, you name it. A couple of months on Valium usually made it go away. The fact is that christians do not have better health, better marriages, better incomes, better relationships with their neighbours or with themselves, fewer traffic accidents, or fewer mental breakdowns than unbelievers. Just like a rock. Really.
  • I ask God to heal my body, to get rid of the scars, and close-up the pores on my face every night. The prayer is not yet answered, but after this video, i am going to pray, pray and pray. I WANT IT BAD. You have to be patient with God, and you have to be faithful at the same time. I ask God to improve my grades, and let's hope he does so after the final this week, I'll keep praying.

  • One pair of hands actually helping

is worth more than a million pairs of hands clasped in prayer.

Prayer is an excuse to stay comfortably at home

while feeling like you are helping others.

Prayer is nearly always a substitute for getting involved.

Or, in the case of praying for the sick,

    a substitute for common sense.

    If you want to help,

unfold your hands and get involved!

Stop eating sugar and start studying!

  • read your Bible man, that's a lie from Satan.

  • "who want it so bad!"

May the Lord help this generation want Him so bad.

  • Love it!
