Latest S-300 variants are top notch compared to all other SAM systems except S-400. They aren't obsolete in several decades. If a country purchased the S-300PMU1/2 or Antey 2500 it's safe simple as that.

Ground air defense is obsolete this day and age, Syria's S-300s didn't protect them against Israeli Skyhawks and the Patriot missile system has been relegated to a anti-ballistic role. The best way to shoot down a plane has always been and always will be with another plane. Low flying aircraft can evade ground radar, and agile fighters always has a chance to outlast a long range missile in flight endurance or jam them with ECM. SAMs are relics of the Cold War.

Ground air defense is obsolete this day and age, Syria's S-300s didn't protect them against Israeli Skyhawks and the Patriot missile system has been relegated to a anti-ballistic role. The best way to shoot down a plane has always been and always will be with another plane. Low flying aircraft can evade ground radar, and agile fighters always has a chance to outlast a long range missile in flight endurance or jam them with ECM. SAMs are relics of the Cold War.

@ALIG1985 Maybe you sould read more yourself. Aster the 4th round of snactions Russia announced that they would sell the S-300 because it was a defensive weapon. Then after a review of the sanctions Putin siad himself that they could not sell the S-300 because of its range and so on. The S-300 is covered under the 4th round. Iran will not be getting them. Iran has no good sam systems. LOL

@ALIG1985 I just looked up the latest news about the S-300. Iran is saying that the sanctions can't stop existing contracts. Russia is saying that the Sanctions block the delivery of the S-300. I highly doubt that Russia will deliver them!!
