  • Exquisite!

  • What a joy to have discovered this rare gem of a song on a live cover! Another blossom in Gord's Garden! This is a favorite. A true poet and minstral. Thank you so much for posting!

  • This has too be my favorite song the lyrics are oh so beautiful your the best Gordon

  • My main man Gord....first time I saw Gordon was 1973ish Shakespeare Theatre in CT - along the way....also there again- Maryland, NY'81, Carnegie Hall (wow!) 1975 and more recently 2010 in Myrtle Beach SC. It had been 29 years and the mystique and wonderful atmosphere he brings was still there. Of course his voice has changed - and he looks old - but the music and lyrics have not - it was as much a joy to be there as it was my first time - thank you Gord!

  • I have turned many young people on to GL starting with my own kids. Loved his music since "If you could read my mind" in 6th grade. To see this video of this song brought tears A historical treasure. What a blessing

  • This is one of my (many) favourite Gordon Lightfoot songs. They call Bob Dylan a poet, and maybe he is. Lightfoot is certainly a poet.

  • truly a master

  • Like a hybrid of the original recording and the Gord's Gold version. Fantastic!

  • One of the best songs sung by the BEST song writer-musician and singer of all time. Gordan Lightfoot can sing anything from this haunting ballad to the telling of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. What a gift he's given us all with his amazing talent.

  • my favorite artist of all time...he is haunting and beautiful.

  • INCREDIBLE poetry in his songs-they quite literally take my breath away!

  • When first I heard this in the early 70's I didn't care much for it. I could not know then that he was singing about my future former wife. I've since learned to play the song just for rememberance to stay single. LOVELY song. Better when you've experienced the pain it conveys.

  • Great......... back in time !! Thank you, from Yvon from The Netherlands

  • What a glorious video! from 1972 and live! the BBC knows how to do these things. I saw him live many times but never quite so perfect looking as this...........he is indeed a genius and I'm so glad he is still with us singing so many concerts. Amazing composer and singer!

  • I can`t stop listening to this. Anybody know if this live version is available to

purchase? It is from his Back Here On Earth album, which I can't find, but

    prefer this if available.

    Thanks for uploading this.

  • Absolutely fantastic,,,,,,one of his finest

  • Thank you very much for posting this video. I have for a few decades loved this song and believe it to be one of Gordon Lightfoot's best. Also, the production values of this video are great - the lighting, the sound, the different views. The clarity and crispness of the images indicate to me that this was captured on high quality film, rather than videotape.

  • I find this hauntingly beautiful.

  • Absolutel;y beautiful

  • I think that's his best song ever!

  • Love it

  • LOVE THIS SONG....Gorden Lightfoot is AMAZING!!!!! Thank you so much for posting! and I hope Gorden sees this to let him know how he touched so many lives with his music! He is "THE BEST"

  • What a beautiful story,if not depressing I love his lyrics.

  • Great times for real music, maybe one day they might come back....we'll have to pray pretty hard. The kids may never know a real song..sad.:<(

  • a lifetime of wonderful songs, like Dylan said, when you listen you never want it to end

  • Amazing.. I can't stop watching . Thank You so much for posting this !

  • A voice like velvet...

  • A true voice of beauty and honesty is a rare thing today

  • I've been a Gordon fan for a loonggg time, and did not know these clips existed! What a pleasant surprise. Thank you for posting them!

    Bobby

  • A gem from a golden age of music. Will they ever return and replace the barbaric sounds of today?

  • @copernicus633

That would be nice. Unfortunately, the music industry now chooses celebrity over talent. Bands and singers nowadays are treated as a product, not as musicians. I miss the 60's and 70's, and I hadn't even been born yet!

  • Over the decades Gordon Lightfoot songs have accompanied me while traveling and while closing my eyes at times to just let the beauty wash over me. He was beautiful.

I agree that it is truly a shame he (like all of us) has had to get older.

  • The Bob Dylan, early years, of Canada!!!

  • I totally ditto siany37's words!!!

  • there will never be a time where we will see talented singer songwriters perform such heartfelt songs as there were in the 70's. such a shame that gord has lost his voice, so much talent.

  • if people could find this, i know there would be a million hits

  • He's simply incredible. Thanks for posting this gem of a video.

  • 89 views! one oft the best things ever recorded -amazing, fantastic thankyou

  • thank you
