I like some of Mariah Carey's song. But you cannot boast that Mariah Carey can sing really good because she can't! This was just horrible! all she does is caterwaul and screech her way through them, as though she's afraid to just hold a frickin' note for once. People make a big deal about how "high" she can sing. She doesn't actually sing these high notes; she squeaks them. Any mezzo-soprano opera singer can easily hit these high notes with a REAL voice.

To me the "Big Deal" isn't her upper register chops, it's the fact that she has a dynamic backround in not only the music she's published, but the music that's been influential to her growing up and incorporating all of that to compose and execute some of the most amzing maticulously thought out melodic lines and ornamentations in modern music, some people aren't into all that, to each her/his own.

@Lerona122 First off: she's not an opera singer, she doesn't utilize classical technique, she was trained in contemporary. Secondly, she's been singing for 20+ years. If you want to analyze her voice, you better look at her earlier performances. Furthermore, when you sell 200+ million albums worldwide and inspired millions of people you can call her voice terrible. I would LOVE to see you hit a G#6 or a C5 in FULL chest voice.

She lip synced most of that performance. You could absolutely heard the album track supporting her vocals while the engineers had her mic cutting in and out. It was a blend of audio made to sound like she was singing live but she wasn't.

I've been a fan long enough to know that her "whistles" rarely sound the same way as the album. It's always different and in here her whistling sounds exactly as the Album cut.

She's not the same Mariah I was a huge fan of back in the 90's. :(
