DId you miss the 2000 Civic??? My point was that I have owned lots of Hondas (all bought new) and haven't found them to be any better than the Mazdas, Suzukis, or Subarus that I've also owned. I listed 32 years of experience. How much do you have? I suspect you're all mouth and no real experience.

I have owned (bought new) a 76 Honda Civic CVCC hatchback, a 77 Accord, a 94 Civic VX, a 94 Odyssey, and a 2000 Civic LX. All were good cars, but none were any more reliable than the other cars I've owned (except maybe the Alfa Romeos). None were nearly as reliable or trouble-free as the 2002 Mazda MPV ES and the 2002 Mazda Protege ES that my wife and my daughter are driving today. Hondas are no better than what the other asian companies are putting out. I speak with LOTS of experience.

I don't know what you friend's problem is, but there's something wrong. I bought my Aveo specifically as a commuter car - to save gas and to put fewer miles on my "better" cars. I looked at the Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio5, Suzuki SX4, Nissan Versa, and Honda Fit, but decided that the Aveo5 gave me the most bang for the buck. I couldn't be happier. Mine was under 12 grand out the door, and with the 5-speed manual and I've been averaging 35 MPG.
