The sad thing is, the knock offs (good ones) like 250 ~350$ are actually BETTER quality sometimes than the real thing.

I have a few watches (genuine and their knock off counter parts) I prefer the knock offs because if I lose it or break it or it gets stolen .... its cheap and replaceable.

Its like making backups of your hard drive so you dont lose your data... same shit.

If the real manufacturers were smart they would just lower the price to something a reasonable individual would pay.

Went to NY for christmas, and it was crazy, especially on canal st. and 5th avenue near central park. There was soemone selling either fake handbags or watches every 5 metres, clogging up the sidewalks... Really annoying!

However, i don't think fining the buyers will really help. It will probably only scare off tourists. The police is probably better off when they punish the sellers, hard.

this officer is correct & i hope he'll walk that route to catch those illegal activities. i use to work near Canal St. lots of those Chinese say Handbags to any females. the tourists & my friend still take chances on buying them. they are @ risk. furthermore Canal Street is heavily congested & a lot of pickpockets. try avoiding walking on it.****
