Lucky you. You managed to have a medical condition that was covered by some insurance company that the doctors could actually treat. There are hundreds of thousands of people without medical coverage and chronic conditions that don't get proper treatment.
People use videos like this to mock those people who are still challenge and without support. NO there isn't support for all who need it.
@mageac So those physical therapists we saw working with him were what? Extras? Sorry bud but your irrational belief in miracle cures is still irrational. Oh, and this guy will be a goddamn mess by 50 because recovery from nerve trauma can be awfully temporary.
@Pangolinx1 can be, but only if you dont take care of yourself, he was a mess, over weight and depressed when he could not walk. he fixed that not anyone else
@Pangolinx1 Right, after the the paramedics, the doctors, the nurses, the pharmacist, the physical therapists, the prosthetics tech, drivers, cooks, housekeepers, teachers, family members and strength coaches dragged his ass up a huge hill......he was able to walk a few steps by himself through his own effort..............then sit his ass back down in a wheelchair.
You can pretend this was some miracle of self-will all you want but it's a lie.
In the 1950s and 60s, polio survivors were encouraged to walk with braces and crutches, and the majority were able to do so. Now--so called "rehabilitation hospitals" actually discourage that practice, instead convincing those with spinal cord injuries which cause disabilities similar to polio to be wheelchair dependent.
Fortunately, a few defy them and learn to walk again.
6 months ago I had a accident, damaged my spine in various places, but what left me paralyzed was the injury to L1/T12 (complete), your story helped me understand what to expect,
I now walk with difficulty with crutches, but it is a start, keep giving others this encouragement.
Unreal dude, its really great to see a person become stronger even when you think it the end of the road... The end is up to you and you have proven that. Very inspirational man!
that was awesome!!!! I am very inspired by you..I was born paralyzed from a few inches below my waist, watching all you went through, inspires me with what I have to deal with as do you, on a daily basis..keep up the good work man!!
OMG you rock and what a transformation your body has gone thru. Very nice looking man. And very inspiring for me to see. I am a bilateral aka. thanks.
this is a very very inspiring story of Nick Scott. I too, and a survivor of a spinal cord injury. in 1987 i fell 50 feet breaking my back and was told i would never walk again either. It was one very serious time in my life. Watching Nick Scott, brought back some painful memories, but they are also inspiring as well. Good job MR SCOTT. I hope you stay in touch, and for anyone in HIS position, interested in learning martial arts, IT CAN BE DONE.......
god bless you and all people !keep going Real iroman!
