  • that one mexican chick in the back of the class is hot

  • I don't care to see this movie.

  • by her father wtf

  • the movie is good

     but it's a sad story

  • i got to see this. i think everyone has precious in them. and some have marry in them as well. its not at all about race but people

  • I HA TE MICHAEL PHill

  • @wugufugu So much hatred. From just one person. Maybe one day, when you grow up, you'll like yourself enough to say something nice.

  • 1:32 that was mariah carey!?!?!?! i didn't even notice 0.0

  • lol, i watch the whole movie and didn't notice.

  • Good movie, but i must admit its depressing as fuck.

  • all this movie is about is rape and incest... TERRIBLE movie...

  • There are people in this world who do lash out and abuse like the parents of Precious, people who are extremely frustrated with life and permanently harm the innocent. It may seem like an impossible nightmare, but it happens... It's an important movie to tell this untold story. Perhaps many victims will never totally triumph over their abuse (as is the case here) but hopefully this film will teach the rest of us to tap into our compassion and humanity.

  • only 3 and a half

  • I think that this movie was really sad, I have a son of my own and I would hate for him to grow up in an environment like the one Precious lives.

  • This guy just basically told me the plot and which actors were in it. Not really a review. Oh yeah and black families were very biased towards in the 80's

  • I dont understand why she is so fat from the way she lives.....she must of stoled lots of buckets of chicken, really! oh eats that much. She threw up the whole thing, thats what the bitch gets from eating to damn much!..........but great movie though! you guys show go see it!

  • @MrPipp23 she threw up because that is a side effect from pregnancy.

  • I would of kicked the moms ass and then called Child Services. Very sad movie. Think about the scenes they weren't allowed to put in the movie that were in the book Push.

  • @Homestar951

    On that note, enjoy prison

  • 3.5? What was the highest micheal has given a movie... and what movie?

  • I met Gabby! She's so cool!

  • why she got to be gorilla, we she's not a size 2

  • This is easily one of THEE most depressing and DISGUSTING movies I have ever seen.

And for goodness sake! As an african-american, I thought we were passed the Aint Jemima sterotype of black women.

I hate looking at that bloated, over stuffed, fat, potato Bitch, Precious. I got sick just looking at her.

I don't feel sorry for her, all through the movie I was hoping someone would drop a bomb and incinerate them all.

  • Wow its amazing that you can say that i cant even get angry at you that comment was very ignorant you must not understand that stuff similiar to this really happens and for you to look down on the story the way you did is incomprehensible it's not a sterio-type its truth things like this happen to whites, blacks and all diff. kinds of races. People like you need to experience true pain so that you can understand not every one lives in a wonderland like you.

  • Go Coliwood Go. people like u can abuse and rape their own kids. feel bad about ur friends and family. too bad they have to live with someone like you.

  • Movie was disappointment. She doesn't overcome anything. She's worse off at the end than beginning. Movie itself makes light-skins seem naturally good and dark skins seem naturally bad. Gab's acting was alright, for a girl who doesn't do much. Mo'nique's character seemed like just another tired out stereotype that shoudln't be so easily accepted in post-obama world.

  • @DodgerRiley u r the only stupid one.

This is real life not some disney movie were she all of a sudden becomes rich.

    BUMB ASS

  • @comedycreator1 This isn't real life, it's a mockery of it. The movie constantly promoted the idea that light-skinned blacks are good and dark-skin blacks are flawed and evil. She is poor and has AIDS and she is going to die. That's how it inevitably is going to end. What exactly did she overcome? Instead of reading at a 3rd grade level she now reads at a 5th grade level?

  • The best film in years, and the girl Gabby Sidibe has a lot to do with it.

  • Rented the "Hurt locker", "Up in the air" and "Precious". By far "Precious" the best film, and Mon'Nique deservedly one the Oscar. "Hurt locker" was weak, too long. Probably veterans liked it. Clooney is always the same guy in different roles, likeable yet the same.

  • The opening just disgusted me. I could not continue the movie. The ridiculous amounts of cursing was terrible.

  • @er1k93 someones a little weak....if you cant go through that then you havent learned about the real world hun...

  • I'm only 12 year old and my mommy said I couldn't watch it.

  • @er1k93 well then you should say that in your comment...it makes you sound like an adult that cant even watch a rated R movie....

  • judging bye the 93 in your name your 16

  • @er1k93 how old r u 10 ???

  • @er1k93 Um..... seriously dude "too much cursing" were u expecting the movie to be happy-go-lucky.

    Its called real life.

  • The ending of this movie SUCKED ASS!

It leaves you with some many unanswered questions.

  • I haven't seen the film, but the trailer sounds like it's The Color Purple set in the 1980's.

  • @Dmacho78 if u havent seen the movie then u need to get out and see it now! lol. it is the best film out there. u are missing a lot. good thing is they have it on dvd and blue ray as of yesterday

  • This movie is all about stereotypes .

  • I like yellow...lmao o02 funny

  • Hope this wins Best Picture. What a story.

  • 3 and a half stars thats plain bullshit 5 stars man get fuckin real

  • the teacher asked her to name her favorite color...u dumbass!!!!!!

  • @hardcorejjfan Hardly a dumb ass, I havn't seen it and I didn't hear that. I thought she might of been asked about herself.

    Dumbass.

  • @telkevolon the teacher gave them as an example to whats their fav color..you got to watch the movie to understand

  • So I have heard.

  • this was a great movie there where times that i felt cloes to her because i delth with some of thoses issues

  • I didn't get that at all. Yes, there were black female characters portrayed negatively. In any movie, the antagonist has to be of some race or gender. There is nothing at all in the film that suggests "[they] are all trying to get government hand outs [sic]."

  • Comment removed

  • Agreed w/ skumrin.... Ppl really need to stop caring what other races think, this is NOT an archetype of ALL Black families: if someone doesn't get that, let them wallow in their own sheltered ignorance bc smart ppl of ANY race already know that movies are a NOT 100% accurate display of one race's situation. But even still, it DOES happen.

Just like films w/ Yt characters have their jackasses, evil men, clean-cut ones etc., so do films w/ Black characters. im just tired of this "portrayal" ish

  • @rtoriq yo im from chicago and undeducated black people are exactly like this.

  • THIS WAS A TRUE STORY!!

  • Comment removed

  • To be honest that was the most biaste and defensive opinoin I have heard in a while. First of all the story depicts the life of an evil, lazy, unfit mother not the average African-A merican woman. If it was a depiction of that the movie would have been pointless & annoying , and who cares what other people think do you really care that much? Besides they probably belive that anyways if they ever were going to and we cannot change someones perspective from one insight on the Black Community.

  • did you mean to say 'bias'?

  • @heavenwardbound What I saw was a statement for living through adversity. I saw Precious as a scared girl who grew into a beautiful and proud woman. I did not see anything negative about the black community at all. I saw society. I saw life and I saw it portrayed honestly on screen. I'm sure people will see it the way you say they will, but they don't deserve the beauty of this film. This is a movie about humanity and triumph and many people were and will be inspired by it.

  • @IamJACKsYTpage Good point. I agree. Thanks for responding

  • 3 1/2 is fair review I believe, like a comment below I believe it is overrated. Not all it's hyped up to be, but hey, it's not a big Hollywood entertainment movie for everyone so decent rating

  • @Shinaah "big hollywood movie". Excuse me, thank god it isn't. BIG hollywood movies are mostly not the most interesting movies.big windbags. Period.

  • Well that's what I was saying... I'm glad it's not FILMED like a Hollywood movie, even though it is one. So what's with the attitude? lul

  • Fuck New Moon

  • this movie was the most depressing movie ever......

  • @MelanieLouM

scumbag, piece of trash, you just stick to your fucking barbie and ken dolls. goodness knows what you do with them in your dirty bedroom, you dog. get the FUCK OUT OF HERE, you did'nt even see the movie.

  • Hey fuck you...I did see the movie...but don't take my word for it...it's your money you are wasting...not mine! This movie is WAY WAY WAY overrated!! >:p

  • @MelanieLouM

then your intelligence is lower than the KKK's. you are just a racist idiot who clicks on black videos just so you can leave you HATRED. FUCK YOU shitbag. lowdown, good for nothing, run-over shoe.

  • Just because I gave a bad review of this movie, I'm a racist?? Why are you so ignorant?? >:(

  • Comment removed

  • Bite me! Who pissed in your Cornflakes this morning?? >:P

  • @MelanieLouM

just go and play with your white icons, barbie and ken, you fool. maybe you should just GROW UP instead, trash.

  • Whatever, "little man"... ^_^

  • @MelanieLouM

GROW UP and leave the dolls for babies, fucking HATER. evil, evil, evil. hate, hate hate all you like but the black train is moving on.

  • Okay, whatever you say...remember...those men in the white coats coming for you are your friends! O_o

  • . . .

  • Why did you think it was horrible? I thought it was excellent.

  • I just feel that it could have been a whole lot better than it was. :(

  • i actually was expecting a better ending..but i liked the movie overall

  • good movie i enjoyed it much.

  • Okay wat exactly do u kno about being ghetto..i mean plz tell me tht

  • Umm...let's see I grew up in it and I still see it everyday I see young girls that know how to have sex better than basic math my beautiful black female classmates become prostitutes I had friends murdered seen childhood friends become enemies and shoot at each other and continue to watch my people die foolishy at the hands of violence daily that's what I know about the ghetto

  • okay ii feel u but tht still givs u no rite 2 cal her ghetto

  • i feel ya...Precious is everywhere where i'm from, in different colors too!

  • you're disgusting. and a coward. i bet a million dollars you'd never say this awful things to anyone in person.

  • I wasn't going to reply but you don't even know what my comment was based on or in response to mind your business and don't judge me or my character someone asked me what I know about the ghetto and I shared things I experienced that hurt me and continue to have a cripling affect in urban communities if you must know but next time know what you are talking about before you randomly insult me

  • The movie is overrated. The only thing good about it is the realism of the characters.

  • So what your saying is....there is absolutely no poor African American home in the whole of the USA, where this happens? Child protection has every single poor corner of every single black neighborhood in every single American state covered to the full?Wow....Child protection are just amazing then aren't they?Seriously I mean they must have like Charles Xavier locating every single oppressed child and pointing them out...coz thats a pretty BIG deal. They should get an award for it! I'm IMPRESSED!

  • WTF??? only 3 1/2 stars???

He has to be a retarded.

I don't care this is one of the best movies i've ever seen in my life.

  • WTF? only 3 1/2 stars?...wow

  • Why only 3 1/2 stars? Why is it so hard to give a good BLACK movie their rightful props that it deserves but wouldn't hesitate to give a movie that's assanine 5 stars? smh

  • This helps you understand why some persons are the way they are.I saw the movie tonight,I loved it .Moniques acting deserves an Oscar,as perhaps so does the young startlett Gabby"Precious".Finally a movie with substance, and true character.

  • Same old shit jsut a different day. She "gotta find her a light skinned bf with good hair"

  • Just saw it. This movie was very good and moving.

  • This movie is sad

  • This movie was funny and sad. I think they did a great job balancing it!

  • I take it the parts that you thought were funny were the scenes where people were calling her big ass, big bitch, whore, etc...it wasn't funny at all...it was terribly sad and just because some douchebags in the audience thought the name calling was funny doesn't mean it was.

  • Well pardon me for thinking the Jamaican girl, precious slapping the guy's head when he talked shiiit, the girl saying her favorite color is florescent Beig, etc was funny. Now who's the real douche when u didn't find out for yourself what the audience were actually laughing at b 4 passing judgement. Just to make things clear, none of the things u mentioned above merits a laugh btw and I witnessed no one laughing at those specific scenes. Again, I thought the movie was both funny and sad.

  • what was so funny about it?

  • i want to see this movie so bad

  • Best movie of 2009. Easily.

  • good movies make you feel. I really want to see this movie so I can do just that.

  • I am SO looking forward to seeing this movie.

  • The ratings are X out of 4 stars, so 3 1/2 is pretty damn good.

  • It's 3 1/2 out of 4

  • only 3 1/2 out of 5? Reading the book, and with Oprah and Tyler Perry behind the funding, this film is gonna chew me up and spit out emotionally, I simply cannot wait, but I have to say, I can already feel a 5 star rating for this movie.

  • I'm looking forward to this movie!

  • 3 1/2 STARS? I hope that is based on.. between 1 poor and 3 excellent!

  • The star rating system used by film critics is * (poor), ** (okay), *** (good), **** (excellent).

  • This year's Academy Award hopeful. I've heard it was toned down for the silver screen thanks to Oprah Winfrey & Tyler Perry who'l produced it. It's more like Steven Spielberg's movie version of The Color Purple rather than it's original dark graphic tone of the book Push. It'll open wide on Nov,20 the same day as the much anticipated Twilight, sequel "New Moon" opens. so enjoy it .if you have the strong stomach for the horror of Precious's family life.
