Mine has never done wheelies, might be how I have my slipper set.
In this video the battery is a stick/hump pack, if it were a flat or side by side it would have less resistance ( = more power).
Also, the stock wheels don't grip too well and just spin. I now have Proline Hammers on it, which are a softer tire meant for crawling and I don't wanna chew 'em up too bad so the slipper is set a little loose.
i got a stampede vxl for xmas good fun just roll with a 10.8v battery what a truck and wait for my e revo brushless next 4 wheel drive buzzy 2 fast to fast try 4 and we will see post some video soon look out
How does your Stampede run on a 9 cell battery? I got an XL-5 Rustler 3 weeks ago and I love it. I upgraded to the waterproof steering servo, waterproof electronics box with micro reciever, VXL brushless motor and VXL speed controller. It's quick now, eh almost 40mph with a 6 cell 3300 mah battery and geared at 26/86. But when I barely give it throttle, it suffers to budge but when I give it more throttle, it begins to go smoothly. Is there something wrong that a bigger battery will fix?
Even though that was 9 months ago, it still does it. I have since fallen into the interest of handguns but I still rock my Rustler in the desert. However, I never figured out how to fix the cogging issue. How do I keep it from doing that? I've tried running a lower gear ratio and it still does it. The only thing I have not done is use a bigger battery like 3S 11.1V Li-Po, or 9-cell 10.8V Ni-Mh. Should I insist on using a bigger battery?
I have a Rustler VXL (and VXL in my Slash) and don't really get any cogging unless the vehicle is barely moving. I also have some 6cell 3300mah packs but don't any cogging unless it's driving real slow or the packs are about dead. I can't fit my 8cell in my Rustler cuz of the configuration of the pack but I do run 6cell flat packs and 2s lipo in it.
My Rustler runs the stock spur with optional higher-tooth pinion. Some might tell you to use a smaller pinion gear, tho the only real way to fix cogging is to get a stronger pack. Maybe not just a higher voltage, might need some higher mah.
If it's more of a glitching, braiding the motor wires might help a bit.
Yeah that's exactly what mine does, at very low speeds or when it's barely moving. Sometimes I'll hit the throttle and it will do like a bunch of "micro-jerks" then finally get going. My 6 cell is 3300mah, I thought about a 4500mah battery but that only improves life of run where as voltage improves performance and reponse.
i got a stampede vxl for xmas there good fun fast as fast to fast with 10.8v its hard to drive at fast speeds but what a truck got to get the e revo brushless 1 next
It is prone to roll over on high traction surfaces if you turn hard at a decent speed. If you're not worried about scale appearance, you can use RPM rear arms on the front to make it wider. I believe there's also sway bar kits available. It helps not to have the shocks in the high "off-road" position on the arms, keeping the CG low(er). They're meant for dirt which they slide/drift on pretty good, tho they can still catch and roll over. Stiffer springs, thicker shock oil could help.
I'm down for a drag race, I got some cars that haul ass. You'll have to come down here tho.
I'm guessing the Slash in the 40mph range, but that's just guessing. I wish I had a speed gun.
What HPI you got? I forget.
I picked up a Sprint 2 Drift Sport with the Toyota Trueno (AE86) body. Painted it with 4 color chameleon paint. I got some lame videos of my noob paint skillz I'll post. Don't have ur email, gimme n I'll send u pics, the vids dont show all colors
This was the first run on the first charge of my new 8cell. It's 4500, but only charged about 3700 n change. Got about 15-20 minutes tho, mostly full throttle.
Full throttle, back and forth, stop/go driving will drain faster but there's no fun in going slow.
After the packs break in, usually 5 or so charges, it should have more kick and longer run times.
I have a vxl system in mine with a 3s lipo and mine dissent even think about lifting up well maybee cause I have big bores also
ilikefire90 2 years ago
@ilikefire90 big bores help lifting up but the slipper being loose could be it

that thing should be doing wheelies. mine does with a 5000mah 7 cell

@phattacorider i believe this is called "cogging" something to do w/ having a non sensored motor.... its normal
s3rv1z 2 years ago
yeah, that's cogging and you should try not to do that. it's normal for a non-sensored motor but isn't exactly good for it.

hhmmm get a lipo. 3s will kick you up to about 65 if you can keep it on all 4's.

Hi, with the velineon brushless system in the slash, will it still be waterproof?
CantoOrigin 3 years ago
no the vxl is not waterproof, but the stock xl-5 system that comes with the slash is waterproof
RCdude33 3 years ago
yeah.......i found that out after i ran it through water....thank god it didn't ruin it.
KurdtKobain51 3 years ago
actually the vxl esc is water sealed
rcvxl24 3 years ago
According to the Traxxas website: Water resistent case design uses rubber seals and o-rings to protect against damage caused by water and moisture.
I'd still be cautious. It's an expensive system to replace. Wet pavement might be okay but I'd avoid puddles and submerging it.
spliffnwesson 3 years ago
but now in their new catalog it is now classified as waterproof just thought you might want to know that
mountaingoatboy1 2 years ago
is this setup really worth it even w/o lipos
kevin1032v 3 years ago
Brushless is a big improvement over the stock motor/esc.
6 cells is ok, but I'd suggest running 7 or 8 cells.
If you can, get brushless and lipo.
spliffnwesson 3 years ago
does that thing blow over easy becasue im not sure if it is worth the money to get it.

A lot has to do with how you drive it. If you take into consideration it's reactions to surfaces and how it corners, it should be fine.
Some people can't get around it and sell theirs, others love this truck. It's definitely fun to watch it run around.
spliffnwesson 3 years ago
how much dose the vxl motor cost??
benderbenny20 3 years ago
The motor alone is $85
The ESC alone is $140
If you buy them together, it's $165
These prices are from TowerHobbies.
It's probably cheaper if you look on eBay.
spliffnwesson 3 years ago
how fast and what are your gearing on that
RCdude33 3 years ago
Stock gearing, I think it's 18/86
It was the first charge on that pack, didn't reach full 4500 mAh
But I'd guess like 40-45?
spliffnwesson 3 years ago
i think that you need to change your shocks so that it will turn easier
and dont run it in sand like that
i know it looks cool, but it fucks up your engine trust me
