  • What the he'll just happened lol

  • What the he'll just happened. Lol

  • I barrack for Essendon. I think SOS touched it.

  • How it's called this game?

  • I believe you SOS

  • Keep dreaming SOS, you never got anywhere near that ball.

  • LOLOLOL my name is Michael Long and i just wanted to see what came up if i looked my name up...cool apparently according to the top comment, i am a legend lol

  • Fletcher still looks exactly the same. I love how animated Silvagni is and then he slumps in resignation.

That was an amazing run and goal.

  • He just lived out every young boy's dream. Spine-tingling.

  • lol at the moron goal umpire, was clearly touched

  • @leisurelydinner LOL, you want some cheese with that wine?

  • @leisurelydinner even if it was ,it was behind the line,,fucking whinger silvagni should,ve just got on with it. i had no doubt we were going to win after that goal. just one of those moments in a G.F a bit like last year when reiwoldt was run down by shaw ,,or ottens tackle in 2007..

  • Lovin the 18 year old inspector gadget

  • lol carlton had a team of legends of their club playing that day and they got rolled by a bunch of inexperianced kid...GO Bombers..

  • Nice long kick by the stick insect at the start but fell asleep after that...very boring

  • OMG What a legend

  • Suck on that SOS, you came nowhere near it.

  • thats why he is a club and afl legend thats when afl was a true hard hitting sport not touch football like todays game

  • another funny thing... 0:14, Carlton's answer to Michael Long was putting Mark Athorn on him? He gets crunched to the ground by Denham of all people, the smallest man on the field, disgraceful effort by Athorn and Carlton.

  • That was touched on the line by Silvagni. Point.

  • @zenmoon3 If SOS says he touched it, then he touched it. A rubbish kick from 15m out either way.

  • @blueandrewblue ok. so the dons only won by 38. loooooooolllllzzzzzzz!!!!!

  • Brings a tear to my eye every time I watch this peice of play! A champion if I've ever seen one!

  • I've met Michael Long a couple of times and not only is he a great footballer but a great human being, a really decent bloke. All respect for Longy, but as a Carlton supporter, I have to say that SOS touched that ball. {If you give me a red thumbs down, I'll assume it's for the SOS part of my comment}

  • @MrDaveLogan He probably touched it, but was probably over the line anyway. Hard to really judge it from the camera angle. Watch where Silvagni lands on the ground, i dunno.. will be one of those things in this wonderful sport that will live on forever, much like Waynes Harmes in the '79 grand final, knocking the ball back from the boundary line to the goal square.

  • lol, he tore Carlton apart that day.

Funny thing is he would probably get dragged in modern football for that, he had Bewick and Mercuri just standing by themselves at the 35 metre mark, Long just had eyes for the goal, bit selfish really :P

    Awesome goal however!

You just knew he was on a mission to blow the game apart, right from the very beginning.

  • nano

  • mmmmmmmmmmmm essemdon

  • Shove it up your ass, Silvagni!! Haha!! Top Notch Stuff!!

I can watch that over and over!!

  • WOOT GREAT WIN BOMBERS

LOL @ Carlton thinking there finals material

  • It was a fantastic goal by Long, but what about the mammoth kick from Fletcher, it was nearly 70 metres!!!

  • carlton fans are still crying over that grand final, beaten by a bunch of kids, how do you feel'

  • a kid i know who goes for carlton said essendon cheated that year, they didnt deserve to win. carlton is gay and essendon will fuck them up this week

  • BGE!!!!!!!!!!!!! for anyone whos retarded and doesnt know what that means it means Best Goal Ever

  • i was 12 year old then watching that game on my own, i dont remember much from that game but that goal always sticks to my memory, 1 of the best running goals in a grand final but i think the best goal in grand final history is gary ablett's goal from the ruck in the 89 grand final which just lost to the mighty hawks.

anyway great goal mr long and go hawks in 2008 :)

  • oh that looked touched to me...how close was the result?

  • fucken good kick for a school boy by fletcher!

  • u are an idiot

  • what kind of sport is that??

  • rugbee

  • are you serious?

its football aussie rules foootball not rugby league not rugby union not soccer not gridirion but football.

  • I think he was taking the piss...

  • its golf duh.....

  • Nice shorts SOS.

  • Does anyone know the name pf the Carlton player who made the last ditched attempted tackle before Long runs into goal?

  • sexton

  • i remember everyone was talking bout that one, and i was only a kid! :P fucking great player

  • i reakon the goal that aussie jones kicked on the run in the 97 grand final was better than that one

  • Still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up to this very day. The best day i've ever had at the footy and a moment i will take to my grave.

  • touched from the full back of the CENTURY

  • MIchael Long - legend

  • thats unlucky for silvagni but still an ausume goal

  • Almost identical goal to Matty Knights' goal in he 1995 second semi final. Long was a great player and always a great person - he's bigger than footy.

  • Met Michael during the Long Walk in support of reconciling all Australians with eachother, particularly the indigenous peoples. A thorough gentleman & leader. A great footballer. Brilliant, rarely better than during the 93 finals. A moment where he had the ball in front of the members' stand with Justin Madden and another Carlton player coming at him. He mesmerised both of them, by standing still! Then, shot the ball down to Chris Daniher for another goal. A true inspiration and Essendon great!

  • what a waste of money i shouldve stayed home dat day. :(

  • He ran rings around us that day.

  • haha and look at silvagni

  • one of essendon's greats

  • Great goal. Is that the famous long run from the 93 granny?

  • Yes, and I watched the game on TV in America! Essendon won by 44 points.

  • Was absolutely untouchable that day.

  • WHAT A GOAL!
