See a lot of people judge rusty by his lessons and stuff, but if you actually listen to Outworld, he NEVER plays this fast, rarely does he play that fast, chances are he's just warming up.

You see with the Major scale and the modes you have different moods with each shape because there are more notes to use. The major scale is happy aeolian is sad and so on.
What's the point of just picking fast if you can't get acrossed moods. Playing fast is cool and all but playing music is far deeper than that.
I don't think Cooley is a poor player. The man just uses the same scale shape with eight notes in an octave all but two separated by whole tones. Far too simple. The major scale scale and the modes are diatonic as well but more complex so there are far more notes to use. Plus Rusty like Mike Batio is locked into that choppy alternate picking sound that can't work with softer notes in more complex chords
