It was called "LE TUBE" and was the most widely used utility vehicle in France in the 50's up tho the mid / late 60's.

Many people (regular people, no hippies at the time) furnished it to their taste and spend their vacations and traveled with it.

Otherwise, the postal service, country butcher and bakers, all sort of trades (even the cops !…) drove with Le Tube, a Citroën UV, not unlike the 2CV.

Erg leuk zo'n HY, zag je in de 70's veel rijden.

Kan me donkerrood, wit, grijs en donkerblauw herinneren maar déze kleur blauw is volgens mij geen originele HY kleur?

Grootste probleem was roest, mijn god wat konden die Citroen's roesten [8 jaar en 3 Citroens ervaring].

Maar gemakkelijk te restaureren, alles is makkelijk demontabel en vervangbaar.

It also provides too much acoustic isolation.

I had tried it on a Peugeot J9 inner engine hatch door (It is just a simple toast-molded 3mm pvc vinyl as original) and most of engine noise have been supressed.

My father had 2 when I was kid. 1 of the 50's. You had to turn in the front to make engine starting. The other was from 1975, a stretched version with contact by key, and engine stard by pushing on red button. Both were grey. I loved it.

Easy and simple engine. 4cyl, 2 litres, 3 gearbox, easy to reach. Some vans have a lot of rust, but parts are easy to get at HY clubs in Holland, Great-Britain, France, Germany, Denmark and Finland

Cool! There are only workshop manuals in French and Dutch that I know of. You can order them from French online stores or HY clubs. The horn will sound if you push the light switch...
