@fsxgamer1 okay bud heres what you have to do: be centered (as best you can) to the ILS (that green arrrow thingy) and then as you get closer use your altitude to slowly drop your altitude and then when YOU GET IN THE ILS ZONE ONLY thats when u can take off the altitude hold adn hit APP, but usually it does it itself, also, make sure u have both a horizontal and vertical glide slope (the vert and horiz. line next to the attitiude indicator) if you have just the horiz, it will crash, u need both

Now to really bring things to life, try something called "Multi Crew Experience", voice control for FSX and FS9. You get to ask your virual co-pilot to turn the dials for you, and you can talk to native FS ATC via the microphone. Goolr it up LOL :-))
I love that approach. I used to go to the Starbucks that was right at the end of RWY09. What a good sight of the planes from there...Ahh...good memories.
How do you know what airports what and where you are? I'm pretty new to FSX and the forums are pretty dead. So I have no idea how to read the initials or the fancy terms for anything.
The reason you may want to retract flaps upon landing (short field) is because it maximizes braking effectiveness. Retracting flaps decreases lift which causes an increase in weight... this weight on the wheels is a good thing for braking power!
well i think that by most reason you should leave them as down as you can so making a landing as slow as you can and in the runway the flaps make speed low faster, as you know on air you need more engine power as you turn more and more down them
its track ir u can buy it but its a lot of money i want to get one i might get one u get like a headset with a sensor and u can zoom in by moving ur head into the screen and u dont use a hatswitch on a joystick you move around with your head like as if your there
It's always interesting to watch a sim pilot with no skilz set up the autopilot / autothrottle to fly an aprpoach and then take over at 300' above the runway. Good job!
so true, in RL. i always go down to the airport to watch the planes and i have never, NEVER in my life seen a plane land or takeoff on runway 9. always on runway 27
im really confuse... i know it may be a dumb question... but do we always have to use ILS when we land... or do we do it manually it what scenario do we use ils. Do we always have to use ILS or manual?
you don't have to do an ils i do not know how to do an ils im trying to find out how i do manuals for now pilots use both but mostly mixed like at 150 feet when doing an ils most pilots turn off autopilot and then land it itself for a smoother landing if everything in the plane is alright working correctly an autoland/ils is as safe as a manual land
It is understood that in these more sophisticated NAV systems that it does more things for you than just a portable GPS in a Cessna. However I do have a question... When you tune to the ILS NAV frequency and turn it to active, do you still have to dial in the heading of the runway or is it automatically done for you when you use the approach hold switch? Also, what switch allows for auto-descent for the correct glideslope?
You have to dial in the runway heading in to the "CRS" (course) window. Once that is dialed in, you can select "Nav" to join you up with the localizer. once established on the glide slope you can hit "App" for approach and the plane will maintain the glideslope and localizer all the way down to the runway!
it's when an aircraft practically lands by itself, when the setting on the ILS NAV frequency is properly configured. ILS stands for Instrument Landing System.
hello, why did you removed the flaps so soon as you touched the ground? when you activate spoilers, flaps work as a air drag. i believe... am i right?
Smoth landing by the way... are you using only keyboard or a yoke?
hey everybody when im trying 2 do an ILS landing the plane sets it to ID and loses control does any1 kno what i have 2 do i tryed this with loads of planes thanks very much ,this will really help alot i apprecieta it
(Continued) You can't have your heading on whilst having the approach hold on because it will over-ride the approach hold and it will have no effect and you will keep in the same line.
Also, I mentioned in the 1st comment about it having vertical and horizontal. You can have your altitude hold on but when it reaches the glide slope it automatically disengages. Leave it disengaged, it helps your plane descend to the runway. Hope I helped.
I don't know how to zoom in like he did in the virtual cockpit but however he did he should tell us.
You put on APP hold when they tell you EXPECT VECTORS FOR ILS, instead of following their route, which would be constant fiddling, you use ILS landing to automatically go to the middle of the runway.
You must always turn off the heading when captured the glide slope. The glide slope is both horizontal and vertical.
You can't have your heading on whilst... (read my second comment, out of space)
He's using TrackIR, its a sensor you attach to your monitor and it tracks your head movement so that when you turn your head ect. it moves the camera in the game. I want one but i don't have a spare $120.
I am just wondering, when you set up an ILS/landing, I see for a runway there is a ILS frequency and heading. I understand that you put the frequency in Nav1 buy where do you put the ILS heading, in the heading or the course?
You don't have to put it anywhere. When you put the heading into Course it makes it easier to read the ILS. The heading is just telling you in which direction the runway goes so that you know how to approach the ILS
on the Plates, upper-left top, will be the Mag.Rwy Approach course. exmp: rwy 24, could be 244 degree's, etc... that's what you have to enter (scroll) into your HSI or VOR instrument to see acurate rwy and Localizer guidance. i also understand you can get the rwy.course from inside the FSX Fllight Planner, but you have to Pause your flight, and go into the Map, and click on the Airport. i don't usually do this, i enter my flight with all paperwork in hand, just like in the real world.

You press the nav button normally, about 30nm away, or when you are on final.(for an ILS landing)
The app button is used for IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) flights between Climbout and Descent. It is the button that guides the plane from beacon-to-beacon.
If that didnt make sense, pretty much its the APP button that guides the plane to the destination in midflight.
sorry for the late reply. U press the app button after you takeoff, until you press the nav button. This is on IFR flights tho, Instrument flight rules.
often, the actual magnetic runway course heading is slightly different than just the Rwy Number. for instance, rwy 24, might be 244 degree's. or rwy 8, might actually be 083 degree's. understand? the reason is, the FAA designated rwy Numbers are "approximate"
values in Magnetic Degree's. i believe they can be "rounded Off" to within about 10 degree's. Ok, all that said, you aren't going to find the true rwy course number to set in your HSI, in the GPS. you must use approach plates(see next)

ehh, so you see all real pilot's landing with full flaps set until they stop or get off the runaway, he put the flaps up straight away the landing gear touched down at least wait for the plane come to a reasonable speed..
thats to maximize breaking capabilities. taking off flaps, reduces the the lift produces, thus making breaking more effective. its not "wrong" to do that

You computer sim geeks are all the same, you know NOTHING about flying a real commercial plane. All you know is computer crap, learn about real aviation before you stick this shitt on the internet. I am a pilot for your crappy information and you make me sick with your crap technique. LEARN to fly you prick
By the way, did you happen to read my disclaimer quoted to be "It is hard to see what I am doing, so I am providing a time line of my actions. I do not offer this as the proper way to do anything, it is just how I did it in this video."
kbola2 : No, thats why we do it in a flight simulator you idiot. And flight simulator gives you a feeling of how it is to fly, thats why its called a SIMULATOR! Atleast when we fly drunk, we dont got any souls onboard, whats your excuse? All hindwarf did was give a tutorial on how to do a ILS landing in Flightsimulator, and thank you, it helped me alot. I have been reading much on how to do it, but its nice to see it in action.
just to let you know asshole flight simulator is dam close to realistic and the only thing different is your not in a real plane now dont go talking shit real pilots are cool and this is the next best thing for ppl who cant be a real pilot so you dont need to be rude
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Do you know any real pilots, are they cool to you? Do you masturbate over pilots you fag? What a shithead you are. Go to an airport and pick some homo pilots up in the toilets you prick and leave the rest of us alone.
your a cock bag. its a game. you really think its guna be as good as real life? and btw. in my opinion he does know how to fly. ur retarted so shut the fuck up.
ey bro! r u serious that aircrafts can automatically descend itself when it reaches the glide slope?!?!? :o I usually manually put in the alt myself. That'd be a cool thing to learn.
theres only 1 problem when i do wat u do, like when im getting close to the glideslope, i hit APP, then im really high up liek 3000 feet and the runway is really close to me, maybe a couple of miles, ilke it just wont decend, do i need to control the dcent by using alltitue hold or do i take off alt hold when i hit APP or wat?
ok, i was at like the middle, this was me: ->, that dash is me (the plane) and the arrow is the start of th glide slope. so ill try to hit the app right when the ATC says"descend to 3000 and maintain till established on localizer, where is the localizer and where will it establish or say?
how do U move the pilots head? do u use munlock keys or a hat switch on a joystick or do u have that special camera that when u turn ur head to the right in real life, the camera in the cockpit turns to the right?
why did u raise flaps on landing they help u slow down

Tonny0909 3 years ago
No not really, to increase drag.
RoY45678 3 years ago
That didnt work for me
PhilipDK5800 3 years ago
ehh, so you see all real pilot's landing with full flaps set until they stop or get off the runaway, he put the flaps up straight away the landing gear touched down at least wait for the plane come to a reasonable speed..
manchesterbob92 3 years ago
as soon as your main landing gear touched down, you put the flaps up straight away when your were going fast on the runaway? thas wrong
manchesterbob92 3 years ago
thats to maximize breaking capabilities. taking off flaps, reduces the the lift produces, thus making breaking more effective. its not "wrong" to do that

It seems like an ILS speed approach is faster than normal, is that true, and if it is what speeds did you use?
jbaldwin343 3 years ago
can you please explain how to set up autopilot for landings and takeoffs thanks

You computer sim geeks are all the same, you know NOTHING about flying a real commercial plane. All you know is computer crap, learn about real aviation before you stick this shitt on the internet. I am a pilot for your crappy information and you make me sick with your crap technique. LEARN to fly you prick

sure thing good buddy

By the way, did you happen to read my disclaimer quoted to be "It is hard to see what I am doing, so I am providing a time line of my actions. I do not offer this as the proper way to do anything, it is just how I did it in this video."
hindwarf 3 years ago
kbola2 : No, thats why we do it in a flight simulator you idiot.

Yeah, as for you Sniken101, do not judge me as this. I am stronger than you can imagine.

just to let you know asshole flight simulator is dam close to realistic and the only thing different is your not in a real plane now dont go talking shit real pilots are cool and this is the next best thing for ppl who cant be a real pilot so you dont need to be rude

Do you know any real pilots, are they cool to you? Do you masturbate over pilots you fag? What a shithead you are. Go to an airport and pick some homo pilots up in the toilets you prick and leave the rest of us alone.

ey bro! r u serious that aircrafts can automatically descend itself when it reaches the glide slope?!?!? :o I usually manually put in the alt myself. That'd be a cool thing to learn.
syn2smart 4 years ago
when you put up the flaps when you land you could damage the aircraft so wait till you exit
xangba23 4 years ago
2 things you should do to be the perfect landing:
- Flaps: you should just bring up when your speed is less than 50 knots.
- Reverse: active on touchdown, deactive when speed drops less than 50 knots.
Anyway nice landing, easy and smooth.

you dont pull upp the flaps when touch down you do that later...ex when you turn in to the taxiway

Hi hindwarf this is FSXFAN from gamefaqs.
This is a nice approach I just flew it a couple of days ago.
Anyways, you did a really nice job on the approach. Perfect touchdown on my opinion.
FSXFAN2007 4 years ago
just beforelanding do you have to turn of APP cause if i dont my plane goes into the vertical. seriously. plz respond.
ossiengoldhill 4 years ago
theres only 1 problem when i do wat u do, like when im getting close to the glideslope, i hit APP, then im really high up liek 3000 feet and the runway is really close to me, maybe a couple of miles, ilke it just wont decend, do i need to control the dcent by using alltitue hold or do i take off alt hold when i hit APP or wat?
swpilot2494 4 years ago
YOu need to be below the glideslop before you hit APP. Be far away from the airport when you hit it.
hindwarf 4 years ago
ok, i was at like the middle, this was me: ->, that dash is me (the plane) and the arrow is the start of th glide slope. so ill try to hit the app right when the ATC says"descend to 3000 and maintain till established on localizer, where is the localizer and where will it establish or say?
swpilot2494 4 years ago
Decend first to 3000ft, at the intercept angle they tell you at the same time. Then with alt hold on, hit APP.
hindwarf 4 years ago
ok thanks, ill try that then
swpilot2494 4 years ago
how do U move the pilots head? do u use munlock keys or a hat switch on a joystick or do u have that special camera that when u turn ur head to the right in real life, the camera in the cockpit turns to the right?
