I recently received a G11 for Christmas and it is amazing! I would highly recommend getting one... If, like me, you are starting a photography course, it is far better than an SLR. A descent SLR costs around £1200, which is probably not in budget for most people. So in its price range it is the clear option. Also the SLR's you get in this price range are huge and hard to carrie around! this is compact and light.

I implore you to get one!

@ClemSamuel its not necessarily better, but yes, quality point and shoots are an awesome value especially considering the lens--these canons are SHARP.
