venom was in Gradius V before Gradius Rebirth ^_^

and yes he is the same and also his original first appearance was in Nemesis 2 / Gradius 2 MSX ^_^

he also appeared in Salamander MSX with Nemesis 3 the eve of destruction / Gofer no Yabou Episode 2 ^_^

if you watched salamander ova you'll know why the cyber brains are always the weakest final bosses ^_^

alright i'll explain ^_^

the reason is because the cyber brain himself is the controller of all your enemies against you XD

so you're actually facing him all these moments in the game's story XD

not the entire game ... all your enemies were controlled by the final bosses ( Cyber Brains like venom in this game or gofer ) ^_^

bacterion is a cell which multiplies to complete a big fleet of cells or ships to invade any planet they want to ^_^

and this cyber brain venom is a revived brain by the bacterions to be they're new leader like he did in nemesis 2 - salamander & nemesis 3 ^_^

It's great how they manage to sneak in the NEMESIS storyline by explaining that Venom is the Bacterion. :)

nope .. venom is not the bacterion ... actually the bacterion is a different person ... you can see the truth about in my channel of an anime called salamander ova 1987 - 1989 ^_^

and venom actually works for the bacterions and they've turned him into a cyber brain to be the leader of the bacterions ^_^
