Kaka's second goal was world class, but for a fabulous team goal, Rooney's first is just stunning. AC Milan's defence left flat footed. Then that second Rooney goal... 90th minute... Kaka got all the praise from this, but Rooney matched him in this game. Runs between two Milan defenders, sprints onto a great through-ball and hammers it with his first touch in at the near post. The goalkeeping wasn't exactly world class, but the ball had dip and swerve on it. That second goal was top drawer. And Rooney isn't over-rated, look at his performances last season.

@987costa Frank Lampard is a fantastic midfielder. I'm not going to argue about that because it's fact, that's why he's on £130,000 a week. He's not there for commercial reasons, he doesn't have any contracts. Cristiano Ronaldo is a fantastic player, but he's on so much money because he's also a brand. It was the same with Owen and Beckham. And I didn't say Beckham was a better player than those, in fact I'd never say that, but he did keep Figo out of the side.

@Munty102 Also, Spain and France have only won 1 World Cup. Holland have never won it. All three still have world class footballers, and great histories. I take it you just read the newspapers and believe everything they say? England have been consistently better over the past 10 years than almost any other team. The only teams who have bettered England's consistently are Spain and Brazil. Italy, Germany, France, Argentina, Portugal... England have finished above them in most major tournaments.

@987costa The first Rooney goal is through reading the game. He was in the right place at the right time, as all good strikers should be. The second was a fantastic goal. Runs between two Milan defenders, sprints onto a great through-ball and hammers it with his first touch in at the near post. The goalkeeping wasn't exactly world class, but the ball had dip and swerve on it. That second goal was top drawer. And Rooney isn't over-rated, look at his performances last season.
